We had a queen size room which was nicely fitted out, good size and great shower. The main issue was the noise from the street outside! The windows were not double glazed and would not close properly so you could hear everything from outside. Being a busy street there is constant noise and people beeping their horns late into the...

I came for a week work in China and was booked in this hotel by my office so that I could enjoy two weekends in Shanghai. I usually trust tripadvisor but for this hotel the mixed reviews were very misleading. First many reviews date back from 2010 and before and while there are different kind of rooms, some older and...

7am every morning including Saturday workers start renovations on the 3rd floor. Loud and annoying. Not the way you want to wake in a hotel. On a weekend. Or any other day. Ridiculous. Toilets that block routinely. Kids running around the floor at 12 midnight yelling and screaming. No staff bother to remedy. Poorly managed, could have been great. Nice...

This hotel has a good location and reasonable price. I specifically asked for a non smoking room and when we initially got the room we did not smell the smoke until we turned off the air conditioner. I then noticed the ashtray in the room. Chinese hotels are notorious for smokey rooms, also the carpet was dirty. The service there...

The location for this hotel is very good, it's just by subway station People's Square. Good for transportation. Also not bad for going for a walk to the Bund. There are some food stalls around there, you could have a really good and cheap breakfast. If you need anything for life, there's a convenient shop by the hotel. If it's...

We booked two double rooms here for our family, mainly because of location and price (esp. during National Holiday week). After 1 night I went searching for alternative rooms. The hotel is very old and badly needs a renovation. Bathrooms were terrible. Air con old and useless. Lift slow. Free breakfast pretty poor, even by Chinese brekky standards (only boiled...

We were looking for a restaurant after our massage session and saw the ad. Entered the hotel and went up to the third floor to find a nice restaurant with posh chairs. We had a table at th window and ordered from the thick menu book! The goose was delicious, veggie were excellent and the pepper beef tender and peppery,...

The main reason for me choosing Li Jing Hotel was it's location, just next to the metro and Nanjing Road (the two main criterias for this trip). Additional benefit about this hotel is that the police station is just next to it. We were glad that we were able to check in even though we arrived early. Also there is...

I came from india and stayed inthis hotel for a couple of days. I found only one girl who speaks english and guided me how to go to sight seeing. If she is not there it will be very difficult for me to talk to the hotel staff and to go around the city.

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
