The front desk cannot speak English. There was an event of room mantainance for door locaker exchange, but all done when I am away and without permessio. The room have very bad smell. Cleaniness is acceptable. Sound proof is weak, as can heard the step walking from outside. Don't provide refrig.

Prostitute name card and dust welcoming you in your room. The internet connection was very slow. Upon arrival, I was told they cannot find my booking. I had then to pay again. I was charged for my first booking, and again by the hotel. After an horrendous night (window was open, it was cold, dirty, and had prostitutes name card... More

Filthy place, full of mold and the smell of cold cigarette smoke in the room. We arrived very later after we made a booking via ctrip. As we entered the lobby we we're welcomed with a woman shouting NO, NO, NO at us, trying to tell us there was no room available. After like 1 hour of discussion we got... More

Stayed here for a one night stop-off in Shanghai before heading back to Pudong airport. This motel is conveniently situated near the Bund area sights and eating places. Good value for the money and great free WIFI. Room adequate, surprisingly quiet and bed was comfortable, though don't expect any luxury. Plenty of hot water but shower floor very slippery. Electrical... More

I stayed in Motel 268 (still don't get the 168 vs 268 thing). Good value for money, certainly a good practical choice if you just want a small room with shower etc., but don't care much about atmosphere. Don't expect fellow backpackers hanging out in the lounge, which doesn't exist. This is basically a chain hotel for Chinese people. Reception... More

Room with AC and attached bathroom for 208 RMB. (Room 632). Very close to the Bund and at the end of the East Nanjing Road, this Motel 168 is a good option for that price. The building is horrible and the rooms were not as expected. However, we are not sure if it was our room (special internet offer) or... More

I do like those chain motels/hotels, like 168, home inn, hanting, that have popped up in most major cities in China ... you always kinda know what you get, no bad surprises, book online and - pretty important when on a business trip - quite reliable free internet connections on the room. i do stay in 168 motels a lot.... Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
