Couldn't get a better location for the price. Easy to find from subway station - 10 min walk. I had a private twin room which had plenty of room. The bathroom was clean. I was on the top floor which was great as so was the rooftop bar! Amazing views even on a rainy night...

As two female travelers , we booked a private room on the 5th floor - very big, clean and neat. As with most beds in China they were very hard but ok for a short stay. The roof top bar is great , stunning view of the Shanghai skyline at night. Decent wifi, hot showers and an elevator, nice communal...

The location is perfect and the rooftop bar is fantastic, the food is a bit expensive though. Only problem I have about this hostel is the lack of commons room. The other guest where all Chinese locals with little to no English so don't expect to be doing any bonding. The staff however are great, very helpful and the wifi...

What more could you want in Shanghai. It even has a rooftop bar where you can enjoy great views of the Bund! The rooms and communal areas are clean and the staff are great. You are just around the corner from the Bund and 15 minutes walk from Nanjing Lu (main shopping street)

We, a couple around 60 enjoyed the stay in Captain Youth Hotel. We had a big room for us two with good shower for 408 yuan (= about 60 Euro), we liked the young visitors and the Captains bar at the 6th floor with view over the Bund is beautiful, special in the evening, when the lights go on.

I stayed at the dorm on 4th floor. I think it is a bit expensive for a dorm, but this was the best price and location that I could find. The location is excellent, it is very near to the Bund. you can go there every night, which I did. there is a family mart right next to the hostel....

This Hostel is very near to the Bund, and still in walking distance to Nanjing Road and Yuyuan Garden which is the most favourite tourist spots in Shanghai. The Dorm Toilet is tipically a dry toilet, but unfortunately do not have tissues. So you must to have your own tissues or walk to clean your self in the bath room,...

Stay there some years ago. Nothing special about this "international youth hostel": its like thousands of it through the world. Nice point is that you can meet a lot of people there and it's close to the Bind but it's a bit pricey for dorms bed.

The hostel is very near to The Bund area. Just a minute walk. However, it is quite a walk to the nearest subway, East Nanjing Road. It took us at least 15 minutes with heavy luggage to get to the hostel. Also, since we rely on public transport/subway for sight seeing, it is quite troublesome. The staff is ok. Can...

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.

“1.The room at the east side (when facing the Bund) is far away from the pub, better for light sleepers. 2. The hotel is non-smoking, but you can smoke in the hallway. Nobody seems to care anyway. 3. No bathroom supplies (toothbrush, tooth paste and stuff) for mix dorm guests.”
  • Walk outside the hostel for 2 minutes, and there is the BUND!
