Gas lanterns line the beautiful cobblestone road with the exquisite mansion as its masterpiece and focal point. A stroll down the historical street, nestled near the waterfront of downtown Mobile, sweeps you back to a time when life was simple, teeming with Southern charm and flourishing with elegance. Within walking distance, the city of Mobile awaits its visitors, rich with... More

Anyone staying in Mobile needs to stay here. My husband and I stayed here with our two year old for a couple of days while I attended conferences at the University of South Alabama. Incredibly kind staff and our room could not have been more immaculate. We stayed in the Spear-Barter Executive Suite which was perfect for my family. It... More

What a place! Gorgeous to look at (don't be put off by the street or how close it is to the highway - it's an absolute haven!) and we experienced such a warm welcome. The bedrooms are modern and traditional at the same time with cosy touches and plenty of space too. Very quiet and spotlessly clean. Just a simple... More

Easy to check in. Good breakfast. Comfortable room with large bathroom. WiFi was reliable if not on the slowish side. Can hear other patrons in the adjoining rooms when they are loud. Good location to downtown (walkable).

We enjoyed everything about the visit and the ambience was uncanning! We were in the main house and it has a very antebellum feel. The innkeeper was nice and courteous and the room was clean. We will definitely stay again.

We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed the area, close to the city centre and restaurants, right next to the Fort. We stayed in the converted carriage garage, ground floor, large room with a small kitchen area, mircowave / sink and fridge. The courtyard area outside had chairs and tables, perfect for an evening glass of wine. Two... More

Stayed mid week in this beautifully restored house within easy walking distance of the town centre. It transpires that it is a popular wedding venue with 42 taking place this year which means that weekend bookings might be at a premium. Traveling through Mobile we found this Inn in the historic part of town. We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful old style home and very comfortable room. for a weekend getaway, wife & I picked this inn out, due to its appearance and romantic look and feel. The entire hotel has been refurbished and no detail was left out or taken for granted, from wonderfully comfortable bed linens, bathroom fixtures, and very quiet. great breakfast, but biggest selling point is the nice atmosphere.............just great!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Fort Conde Inn, Alabama's only 4-star, AAA four diamond rated boutique hotel and bed and breakfast, is a luxurious facility exuding the style and feel of nineteenth century Mobile. Requiring two years of meticulous workmanship, the Inn has now been restored to its original Victorian splendor. Built in 1836, the Fort Conde Inn (Hall-Ford House) is Mobile’s second oldest house and its interior and exterior finishes reflect its architectural vintage from original heart pine flooring and custom-milled stairways, moldings, and window and door trim to marble fireplace mantles, plaster walls, 12 foot ceilings and crystal chandeliers. The Fort Conde Inn, located in Mobile's historic Fort Conde Village, has recently expanded to include four newly restored hisorically certified homes: The Antunez House, the Spear-Barter House, as well as the Blakely and Gonzalez cottages. Walking into the Inn today, is like taking a step back in time to when these homes were originally built. The Inn sits on a quiet street in Fort Conde Village surrounded by Victorian homes restored with integrity and respect for their architectural heritage. It is situated adjacent to Fort Conde, a pre-revolutionary war fort built by the French in 1720 and named after the Prince of Conde, a grandson of Luis XIV. Mobile was founded by the French and the fort protected Mobile from incursions by the British. In recognition of the French heritage of this land, the rooms at the Inn have been named in French after friends and family members of the owner. ... more   less
