I just had a 3D2N holiday with my son in Malacca. We have always stayed in 3 or 4 Stars hotels when we travel. We thought we'd go backpacking and try a no frills boutique hotel this time, just for the experience. We chose River One Residence for its location - along the Malacca River and close to Jonker Street.... More

I like the fact that its along a row of shophouses that continue to operate for locals. Nearby is a kopitiam too. Walking distance is the main street with many of Malacca's important heritage buildings. Moreover, it is clean and safe.

Clean and comfortable. Home feeling. The tauke is so friendly. Suggestion for friends and family but not for couple cause the sound proofing of the room is not satisfaction. The living area of second floor is so comfortable at night but have mosquitos, should make some precautions.

Really good location in centre of town. The hostel is clean, as were the shared bathrooms. The staff were friendly, but perhaps not too useful with buses, directions etc. Cute little kitchen with coffee, tea, and biscuits. Main issues: the room was windowless, the walls thin, the floor boards very loud, and the wifi absolutely useless.

We stayed for two nights. Guesthouse is in the heart of Melacca. A queen size bed, a table and a mirror inside the room. That's it, really basic and simple. Shared bathroom. We stayed at downstairs, so have to go up to upstairs if you wish to see the view. Or just request a room upstairs. There is a very... More

The guesthouse is well located close to Dutch Square and Jonker St. Our room was authentic, simple and adequate sized. It contained only a bed and a table. There was aircon and a fan. Towels and coffee sachets were provided. There was only one power point. The walls are thin so corridor and other rooms can be heard in your... More

The guesthouse has a cute lounge overlooking the river. Very reasonably priced, great value for money. Clean bathrooms and friendly staff. There is free tea and biscuits. A second hand book shop is located across the road.

Extended our stay for a week because the place is lovely. Rooms are nice and clean, airco and fan in the room. Nice places to sit and relax upstairs with view over the river. Coffee and tea with cookies and fresh water for free, cute complete kitchen and showers and toilets are cleaned multiple times a day. Staff is very,... More

Very strategic location, walking distance to downtown/tourist spots, very clean shared bathrooms, love the common room which located upstairs; it came with a great view & big space to chill out, front door is safe & secured, clean room, strong wifi.

For backpackers, this was great. Excellent value, room was spacious, fan and a.c.. Common area was great place to meet fellow travellers. Location was excellent, walking distance to everything! Family is nice and provides an amazing book on the secrets of Melaka. Bed was the most comfortable bed we have slept on so far.
