What can i say? luxury in a mangrove area.
we are staying in a tepee with a king size bed, electricity, a fan, lights galore, warm bedding and space! each tepee has its own outdoor shower and toilet which is nearly screened off. There are only 4 tepees on the site so it is intimate and personal

Outside is stunning. The site is on the river (which you can swim in). There are big day beds under a canopy to lie on. Raj and the team make great fresh juices and the food is great. The reason the food is great is because the owner (Thibault) is french and brings some simple food standards with him! The menu caters for all tastes - taste the aubergine curry or the thali - amazing!

There are bikes you can borrow to cycle to the beach or you can hire mopeds or an enfield motorbike! the nearest beach is Turtle Beach which has nesting turtles. Visit santosh bar for a cold beer.

Totally worth coming here for some quiet adult time.

Having spent majority of our Goa trip staying in Beach Huts, we came across La Mangrove which with its Tipee Tents and inland riverside location offers something a little different and seeing the excellent reviews we thought we would give it a try.

It was a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of Palolem, a truly beautiful spot on the river with views you'll never tire of. Its a simple set up with a row of comfy beds in the shade to lounge on and a few tables and chairs, all tastefully done but not much else.

The Tippees are high quality and include a super kingsize bed, stone flooring and some nice finishing touches. We had our best nights sleep here mainly due to the quieter surroundings. We were a little undecided on the bathroom, there is no flush on the loo instead your provided with a bucket of sand and its cold showers although I think you can request hot water. Getting up in the night to use the bathroom is also a bit of a palava - you'll need a torch and your bug spray!

What we were most impressed with was the service - the French owner is super helpful, he really makes you feel welcome and his staff are a pleasure to be around. The food is exquisitely presented with some tasty dishes on offer - we would highly recommend the Pad Thai. All we would say is the restaurant in the evening perhaps lacks a little bit of atmosphere - its incredibly dark and a little quiet for us but I guess it's the tranquil nature of the place. In our opinion a bit of chilled music and some more lighting would definitely help. There is not an awful lot else to do at La Mangrove so we made use of the bicycles and headed down to Galgibag Beach one day, and the second day we rented a scooter and drove through the forests to go on a Spice Farm tour, both really worth doing.

All in all La Mangrove offered a really pleasant and peaceful stay, for a couple of days it's pretty perfect - any longer I think we'd be twiddling our thumbs!

P.S I feel bad being the first not to give 5 stars, perhaps we are a harsh critic, it came very close to 5 stars but we feel requires absolute perfection for this!

My girl-friend and I stayed at La Mangrove for 4 nights. Beautiful location right by the river, only 4 tipis, very friendly staff. Beautiful Galgibag beach is a mere 2 km away and can be easily reached by bike/scooter. The food at La Mangrove is fabulous, we ended up having dinner there every single night even though there were great options on thre beach (e.g. Santosh). Thibault, the owner, and his wife Maud are very nice. We´can highly recommend La Mangrove and if we were to go back to Goa, we would surely stay there again.

I stayed here for 2 nights in February - a solo female traveller who was looking for some time away from London. I came down from Palolem where Thibault, the manager had helped arrange a transfer - all brilliant and easy to organise.

Upon arrival, there was a whole team to greet me and show me to my "tent". They are beautiful. Compared to some of the beach huts up in palolem, this was absolute luxury. The decor, space and light was amazing. I wish I could pick up the outside bathroom and bring it, and the view home!

The river, birds and trees were amazing and a great departure from the beach huts. Thibaults Mother was staying at the time, and provided excellent conversation and company.
The day sun beds provide the perfect place to relax and soak up the atmosphere, and where wine, drinks, snacks could be ordered - all YUMMY! (The breakfast that was included was amazing)

One of the best things, was the free bikes that you can take down a couple of km to Galgibaga beach where there is next to noone around, beautiful scenery and food!

I will totally be coming back :)

First place we went arriving in Goa, what a shock! Amazing location along the river, with only 4 Tipis available we felt a bit exclusive! The food was surprising as well, nothing to fancy but very fresh and tasty! Little lounge area very relaxing, few meters from the river where you can swim. Lovely staff, lovely bosses! Thanks again

In the far south, away from the crowds that have ruined big chunks of Goa, near a perfect beach where you'll never see more than a dozen people. Very stylish accommodation, excellent food, smart sophisticated hosts. This is the real deal, a place to kick back and read a great book. I slept out on a day bed by the river, fabulous birds at dawn.

A very nice and beautiful place. Neha was amazing, we got help from her about most everything. From what food to choose from the menu to questions about phrases we wanted to learn in Hindi. The owner Thibault was also very kind and welcoming. What the group did not like that much about this place, is that during night time it was a bit noisy. The staff said it was fireworks but the sound was much higher and was sounding more like an explosion or a bomb. We experienced this both our two nights. Some local was walking in the tent area at night time making noise which didn't feel that pleasant when there was no lock on the tents. You could also hear the train from the other side of the river.

It would be really nice to be able to go on a boat in the river!

This place is quiet quaint and very quiet, so if you are looking for a place to get away from it all this is the place. They also offer bikes that you can easily ride to the beach, there are about 4 or 5 bikes so get them early! Everything we ate was amazing and I highly recommend the veggie soup and chocolate Momo's!! Staff was very attentive and took great care of us!
We stayed for two days, which was more then enough for us as we like a little more action, but I'm glad we had the experience!!

Me and my boyfriend were blown away by this place! It is exactly like the pictures (which is often not the case in india)
The french/dutch couple owning the place was wonderful and so genuine and friendly. They also hade great staff who took excelent care of us. I cant praise La Mangrove enough... we ended up staying there several days in a row to enjoy the amazing food, calm location and the sound of the djungle. Its in the south of Palolem and they helped us to rent scooters so we could get around Goa easily. It took about 30min of easy driving to Patnem. One of the greatest experience of my life was when visiting a spice farm close by. Ask the manager about it and he will help you out.
I will definately be back sooner than later.
JUST GO! (Except if you are looking for party, then this is a bit far from the busy streets and restaurants)
