I visited goa in July for a workation and stayed for almost 2 weeks at this amazing hostel. We reached the hostel at around 6 in the evening, the staff was absolutely welcoming and helpful, they went an extra mile to help us settle down. The hostel is very well maintained and beautiful with a vintage and homely vibe. It is located close to Curlies and Artjuna, there is a view point near this hostel which I absolutely loved. There are a couple of amazing food trucks nearby which you should absolutely try. We stayed in a 6 bed mix dorm which was clean, had good air conditioning, large lockers, and a lovely common area to chill around. The food is absolutely amazing, every dish we tried was very tasty and it always felt like homemade food. Most of the time we had our breakfast and lunch at the hostel.
They served amazing cocktails and were more than happy to customise them as per our requests (PS: Shoutout to "Shraddha" #cutestbartender). Special mention to "Vandana" (she is a sweetheart) for bearing with us and helping us out with literally everything we needed. I would also like to thank "Rohit" for all the crazy jamming sessions and "Musir" for all the help. Thank you soooo much guys for serving us with all that love and making our stay sooooooooo amazing.
It was indeed a wonderful time spent there.

Recently, I stayed in Funkey Monkey Hostel for my workcation. The hostel is based in Anjuna, which happens to be great location to explore nature as well as famous party places like Shiva Valley, Curlies, and Hill Top among other famous pubs and clubs. People managing the hostel are really helpful and take all the efforts to make you feel like home. I would like to appreciate and give my regards to Rohit, Vandana, Shraddha, Musir, Chef and all the remaining staff to make me feel like I am not away from home during my whole stay. The hostel has combination of dorms and private rooms, whole property was clean as well as the rooms are spacious. The food at this hostel is like 10/10, many people from other hostels use to visit Funkey Monkey just to get their breakfast, lunch or dinner. I wanna thanks Vandana (restaurant manager) to help me with all the special and customised order. Last but not least, do try their awesome and customised cocktails made by Shraddha (bar manager), she has serious talent and her own way of making alcohol taste more delicious!!
Overall, I am gonna rate my stay 9.5/10 based on my experience of more than three weeks. I feel like I actually found second home in Goa and any trip to Goa will be incomplete without The Funkey Monkey Hostel 🥂

When I visited Funky Monkey there was a 10pm curfew in place in Goa, imposed by the government. This meant no excessively loud parties or music outside after 10pm. Whilst this was a little surprise initially, we quickly realised this wasn’t so bad at Funky Monkey. Myself and a bunch of fellow solo travellers ended up staying much longer than planned! I believe that is testament to a lovely hostel and those who work hard there.
The staff managed to facilitate plenty of fun despite the restrictions, and we had a great time. There seems to be a good balance between all aspects of the hostel experience here - you can have a good time with your new found pals, go exploring, eat some good food at the hostel or somewhere nearby (fish thali at Sahil’s is out of this world and only a short walk away), or chill out and generally just have an awesome time.
The communal bar and lounge areas are big but cosy with plenty of room for several groups. It’s very inviting for socialising and functions well. There’s an abundance of rescued animals lounging around, soaking up the affection offered to them! Otherwise they just happily laze around in the sun, or sing along during open mic night.
The dorms are as expected and serve their purpose. The ladies dorm shower did require a particular nack to activate the hot water but this was easily resolved by a query to staff.
The staff are so friendly, accommodating and helpful. All super chilled but attentive - nothing is too much trouble. Big up to the kitchen staff for making delicious food. Staff really make the difference at hostels, and these guys are a cut above the rest. Big up Shraddha for the lovely morning coffee chats, Musir for the amazing cocktails and endless smiles, and Rohit for the fun guidance and impeccable vibes.
This place is perfect if you’re looking for a relaxed but fun place to stay in Anjuna.

Located in a cozy corner of North Goa we found the beautiful and serene property of "The Funkey Monkey Hostel", with the beautiful Anjuna beach only a few short steps away. As welcoming as the hostel is and its great vibe is, all thanks to its awesome caretakers Shraddha, Vandana, Rohit and gang who made me feel right at home. I have found a lifelong friendship in the folks at the hostel as well as with my fellow backpackers who stumbled upon this beautiful property. Never before has end of a hostel stay made me not want to leave, but the Funkey Monkey family has changed that and I cannot wait to meet my friends there soon.
To the more materialistic things, the hostel's chef Nikhil is a maestro with the most delicious yet homely food I have ever had in any hostel before. If you are staying in North Goa then Anjuna happens to be at the center of it and rest of the N. Goa is easily accessible in all the directions, which makes your decision to stay at Funkey Monkey a no-brainer. Needless to say the hostel upkeep and cleanliness was way beyond what I had experienced before at other hostels, so kudos for that.
In conclusion a stay at Funkey Monkey is absolutely recommended if you are looking for a chilled place with a great vibe.
P.S. Try Shraddha's signature watermelon-gin cocktail or hot-toddy (you can find her and Vandana rocking the hostel bar).

Funky Monkey Hostel is truly my home away from home! As a solo female traveler, I always feel comfortable, safe and welcomed here. It’s the perfect hub to meet amazing people and make lifelong friendships. The staff is incredible—always helpful and kind. There are fun activities every day, creating the best vibe, yet it’s also peaceful at night, ensuring a great sleep. It’s the perfect balance!
A huge thanks to Rohit, Shrada, Sofi, and others for being such a lovely crowd. I’m so grateful to have experienced this place again and again, and that’s why I always return—there’s just no place like it!

This was my first ever solo trip as a backpacker and I was highly anxious before coming to goa. When I looked up Funky Monkey on the Internet, something about it made me calm and made me feel safe. And trust me, I was not disappointed. The location is obviously beyond perfect and the rooms are cozy and comfortable. But the people I met there makes it a place I wanna keep coming back to. The staff is super friendly and warm and they are always ready to help you out in whatever way they can. The best kind of people to chill with and at the same time party with. I learnt the value of good hospitality with this hostel and the value of excellent human connection. The vibe of the hostel is a unique experience on it's own. I wanna keep coming back to meet all the other regulars in the hostel and be part of the family of backpackers that call it home❤️

Staying at funky monkey is an amazing experience. The hostel is clean, green and has a great vibe. It’s a five minute walk to Anjuna beach. There are some good cafés nearby. Hostel also has its own in-house menu which is homely and freshly made.
The best best best part is they have dogs and cats in hostel which they’ve rescued. It’s a beautiful sight to see them being cared for. I loved seeing the cats and dogs lazing around in the Sun and being doted on by the staff and guests.
Rohit, Iqbal, Shraddha and Vandana run everything smoothly and are always there to help. You’d meet a lot of diverse people and hear their stories.
Don’t think my stay could’ve been more awesome than it was. :)

I had a wonderful time at funky monkey hostel! the whole crew sophie, dk, mushir and all the others are doing their absolute best to make you feel as comfortable as possible! nothing is too complicated for them and I really had the feeling they act from their hearts. Had been here for a week with friends. The room was clean and well maintained. The best part about this place is the people here, everyone right from the working team to the guests are wonderful people. Had a great time and made some good friends.
