Just spent a week at Cheaha and it was a wonderful experience. This is an awesome state park and it offers so much. There are 2 museums, a overlook tower at the highest point in the state, campgrounds, hotel, cabins, chalets, a bunch of great trails, a swimming lake, a restaurant, a great store and the best staff to serve....

We stopped by the restaurant at the resort knowing that the view would be second to none, and it was! We ordered hamburgers and a sandwich. They were all average but good quality items. It was all well-prepared and tasty, though they were far from the best burgers we've eaten. However, they were probably the most reasonable burgers and sandwiches...

Located on the top of Mount Cheaha, the highest point in Alabama, this state resort is worth the drive just for the views. We did not stay overnight so I cannot attest to the lodging. We ate lunch late--buffet with great fried chicken but not so tasty veggies by then. But my grandson and I drove up for the views....

We really enjoyed the views from Cheaha State Park and the rating would have been excellent except that I feel the $5 per person charge is too much for what is there. We only went there to hike, we did not stay at the lodge. There are only three trails to walk in the park, we did two of them:...

Spectacular views, abundant hiking trails, waterfalls, wildlife, and lush scenery in the surrounding Talladega National forest make this a wonderful place for nature lovers. Unfortunately, inadequate state maintenance funding has degraded the facilities, as evidenced by the suboptimally maintained restrooms and other facilities; the staff, though pleasant and helpful, is clearly overworked and understaffed, obviously through no fault of their...

The view is worth the visit. The staff was helpful and friendly. As far a the rooms are concerned they are a bit dated, but we're talking about a state park. There isn't wifi, but there are plenty of other things to do. Be sure to check out the restaurant's view and pool.

The pictures of the stacked stone lodge look very inviting but the rooms are really run down. The pictures must have been taken when the lodge first opened. Windows were filthy, smoke detector broken, light fixture/exhaust fan in bathroom broken and only giving about as much light as a night light. Corners were dirty. Bed was clean. A good maintenance...

We stayed in April 2016 in cabin 2 First the good, since that's what most people want to read. The view was AMAZING. The cabin was completely furnished; linens, towels, fridge, freezer, with ice maker, coffee maker, microwave, stove/ oven, and even dishes. There is also a fire pit and a grill. The trails are great. There is a trail...

I hiked this from the base at the lake to the summit with my kids age 6 and 8. It is a well marked trail easy to follow but it is steep and challenging. The trail doesn't end at the summit so it comes out on a road by some cabins so we got lost for a few minutes trying...
