We visited this place during our kolkata & sunderbans tour back in March,2014. Thumbs up to this hotel, locality wise, since it is centrally located, close to Park Street, the Metro is easily accessible within a few minutes ride to most of the attractions.

However, the good things end there. The rooms are pretty cramped up, congested. The toilet was ok. There is a restaurant downstairs and the food there is pretty average. The staff here is dont care about the guest much, don't expect much in this front.

You can think about going to this hotel only if you are looking for a hotel in terms of close proximity for all the attractions for sightseeing.

I have been using this hotel for the last 17 years.
Staff are like family now. They look after my needs well and are very reliable.
Location is good for shopping and communication.
Hotel food is very good, plus lots of restaurants nearby.

we are four friends went to Kolkata for some official work, we decided to stay in Kolkata for two days and visit the places. so we booked hotel Esplanade Chambers from travel guru got confirmation from travel guru and on the way to hotel we called the hotel to inform we are reaching there but surprisingly hotel guy said there were no rooms available. After one hour struggle with the Travel guru call center. They arranged 2 rooms at Hotel Heera and promised that was good deal than the previous hotel. This hotel is very well located in the heart of the City very near to Esplanade in the lane beside of DGP office on grant road.
Hotel is surrounded with the shops. Hotel entrance is very small once you enter the hotel reception is good. Hotel manger was help full and nice guy. Hotel rooms are clean and comfortable. There was a refrigerator in our room I think they haven't cleaned it from long time but because its winter there was no need to use that. Hot water is available 24 hrs.
I definitely don't suggest this hotel for families or official meetings, but I can surly suggest the hotel is good people travel without their family like with friends traveling together for a trip...
you can walk to Esplanade metro station so you can reach any part of the city in less than half an hour. They doesn't have in house restaurant so they do room service for this,Food quality is OK according to the rates(Found Rates are very less than Pune's smaller restaurant) ,
they will take orders for food till 10.30PM so you can roam around the city and come back and order your food.

over all OK to stay for 2 nights, if don't expect too much from a hotel.

Whilst being located in a quiet lane but good walking distance to markets, etc., my five night stay there was greatly marred by the unpleasant, unfriendly and at times (a little stalker-like) staff. Management were outright rude and unpleasant at all times. Staff felt they had the right to enter our room, whenever they liked (WITHOUT KNOCKING). Who does this???? New fresh towels didn't look like they were washed at all. Stayed here as part of an Intrepid Tours trip and wrote to Intrepid urging them to drop this hotel from their travel itinerary. Would NOT recommend this place at all.

Hotel Heera is located in one of the many of the secluded by lanes of Kolkata, as a traveler who would want to get a cheap place, this would suit best.
The rooms are pretty decent and big, they have good interiors and the bathrooms are clean.
However, the management is less than friendly, the front desk wasn't very hospitable, but the general ambiance is worth the money.
This a good place for the traveler on the move looking for a hotel for 2 or 3 days.

To begin with; I am a budget traveler, a flash packer of sorts, and look for hotels in the $30 USD range. If I go over budget, no worries and if I find really cheap accommodations that suite me that’s an added bonus.

I’m currently on my second tour of India (February 2018 - March 2018). I find that all the hotels I have stayed at are pretty much the same. No matter what price I paid (500 - 2500 INR) at any given hotel, I found the cleanliness to be substandard, the rooms outdated and in need of serious remodeling and maintenance appears to be non existent. Typically the bedding, linen, pillows and towels are worn, stained and should be replaced. Hot water and water pressure can be an issue and I have at times skipped a shower. Amenities are totally lacking, mostly you get a roll of toilet paper and a bar of soap. Most budget hotels do not clean the rooms on a daily basis, seems to be upon request. Wi-Fi is hit or miss, some places it was quite good, others not so much. Never found much in the way of English language channels on the television so I did not watch it. A visit from a mosquito or two was a nightly occurrence at just about every hotel I stayed at. India is noisy, and I found most hotels to be as well, from a combination of street sounds, staff and guests. In all honesty, none of the Indian hotels that I stayed at deserve more than three stars.

Now to the review:
Hotel Heera is a typical Indian style budget hotel; out-dated dirty rooms, grotty linen and towels, no amenities etc. I had a deluxe room which had a walk in price of just under 2500 INR, the booking.com price was basically the same.

The positive :
The Wi-Fi worked very well, plenty of hot water, English language television channels including a few news channels and a convenient location.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Hotel is clean but NOT spacious. The 'Economy Double Room' was AC but very small (10x10 approx). The stair and the lift were too small. The staff were helpful but very much eager to take tips in every step! The hotel accept Debit/Credit cards for payment in the reception. Wi-fi signal was available in the room.

I was charged more than the price mentioned in the 'menu card' for food. The person in the 'reception' denied to provide me any 'receipt' during 'check out'.

I stayed here with friends for over a week.
Great location to explore the streets, markets and sights of Kolkata. We paid around $2100 rupees per night for the whole room which is good value for what you get.

Our room was on the top floor. We had a double bed, a single bed, bathroom, television, air conditioning. Shower gels and soap provided.

Rooms can be cleaned free of charge each day.
Staff were very friendly and most spoke English. Food is delicious, cheap and can be ordered to the room for no extra charge.

Wifi was at times sporadic but in my experience this is common across many hotels and cafes here. The router was accessible on the top floor so we could reboot it by turning the power off for 15 secs and back on. After doing this the speed was much better and more consistent.

It was easy for us to get Uber's leaving and returning to the hotel. Sometimes the Uber's park a minute away so you have to find them if they don't get closer.

PRO TIP: when getting taxis or Uber's make sure you don't set it to hotel heera international. That is a different hotel. This is Hotel heera with no international in the name.
