If there could be a disaster, this resort has become one of that. Its is a sad memory of what it was once. The only reason people still go here, is because there are no other large resorts around Kolkata, of this size. We had booked a 2 – Bedroom Bungalow for a long awaited weekend getaway after lockdown. But here go the looooong list of how this resort spoiled it for us. 1. Check-in was a pain, with shouting guests, cramped check-in counter. After standing to be attended to for 15 mins, finally someone escorted us to a non AC waiting area, citing social distancing. Thankfully, soon we were called back for checkin. 2. The so called bungalow we were allotted was around a kilometer from the main reception/pool/dining area. 2 bedrooms and a living room. 3. Dusty sofa, a late 1900 style fridge with fungus patches, and broken shelves, a living area (sofa area) with no ACs, 2 ceiling fans one of which was swinging wildly ( we were afraid it wud fall on us), stained toilets, leaking taps and a dirty bathtubs with lizards making merry inside. The room was not at all like what they show on the website. 4. The bellboy who dropped us there did not even bother to open the room, as he had to drop other guests in another bungalow. There was no electricity when we entered. We had to wait outside and call the reception before he came back with the electricity slot card. 5. After he went away, we turned on the ACs to relax a bit. We realized after 15 minutes that the AC of one of the bedrooms was not working. Then started another round of call to the reception/housekeeping who sent a few mechanics after sometime. After 2 mechanics and 1 hour of working inside and outside the rooms, finally the AC was made to work. 6. In the evening, just as we sat to enjoy the snacks and company of friends, the electricity went off. After being in the dark for 20 odd minutes, with mobile torches as the only light (no generator backup, no emergency lights), a mechanic came and the loghts came back 20 minutes after that. 40 odd minutes of darkness and mechanics moving about in the dark. 7. Once the electricity came, we realized that the AC had been dripping water inside the room all afternoon and evening, flooding our room. We had to move the table, place a bucket under the dripping AC, and call the reception again. 8. What followed was 2 hours of utter chaos in the room, mechanics going in and out, moving every furniture in the room. The room was worse than a workshop (see photos). However, I must say these mechanics were extremely polite. 9. Since there was AC work going on in the room, and we could not have gone leaving our stuff, we decided to order room service. We tried reaching room service from 7.45-8 PM. Finally, after constant no answer, finally we were able to place an order at 9.30 PM. AC work was still going on. Till almost 10 PM. 10. On calling the reception for a change of room for all of this, a certain Mr Tapobrata assured me he will enquire and call back in 5 minutes. 5 became 15, the call never came. On calling back again, he said he forgot, and asked for 10 minutes more. And then, like everything else, he went incommunicado. No answering phone!! (This point is espl for his bosses, so they know what an employee they have!!) 11. Finally the food arrived at close to 11 (thankfully!). We had already taken out our biscuit packets for dinner by that time. 12. The next day, breakfast was another mess. Chaos, empty food trays, cold sambhar, broken dosas with the chef blaming the damaged tawa!! 13. At checkout, neither did they bother to ask about the stay, not a word, not a smile, nor did we dare to complain, as the very body language and our experience of the last 18 odd hours only made us more resolved to never come back to this hell-hole. If you want to not suffer like we did, avoid this place. P.S: The only good thing was the restaurant Bhoomi, and its delicious mutton and fish.

We ( 2 families with 4 adults and 2 kids) went for a weekend getaway at vedic village on the week of 10-11th July. We had booked a 2 bedroom bungalow .Here are some of our unpleasant experiences which I would like to share.  • It begins in the reception itself. There was utter chaos and people talking about over-booking/ not getting rooms alloted. No social distancing was maintained in a small reception room .. however, in sometime a gentleman asked us to be seated in another room, far from the reception, which didn't even have the ACs on. We finally got our rooms alloted and were escorted to our bunglow.  • Upon reaching the bunglow, we found it didnt have electricity and then waited for a guidance from the person who had escorted us to our bunglow to get the electricity switch on for us.  • Once we had the electricity, we figured out the AC for room (809) was not functional. We further called up for electrician. we understood from there was some issues in the outside unit of the AC and that had to be fixed. We went for our lunch and in the meantime they promised to get it fixed. After couple of hours of struggle, they could finally fix and AC was functioning.  • Further in one hour or so, we found water dripping from the same Ac and our room got flooded with water. We had to call electrican again. this was during the evening timeframe and the team took around 3 hours to completely fix the issue . I am sharing the pictures of my room to understand how the condition of the room was.  • In the meantime , there were power cuts as well, not sure about the power backup in vedic village and how they operate such a huge resort without power backups .  • With all the repairing work/powercuts, we wanted to have our dinner and tried to get in touch with the room services . We tried to call them from 7:45 pm and could finally get them on call at 9:20 pm ( all this while the phone was on engage). Finally after multiple follow-ups, we received our COLD food at 10:30 pm.  • 2nd day morning breakfast- Again total chaos, no arrangements were made to deal with the weekend rush. no replenishment of food items in time, had to wait for every single thing. no queue maintained in live counters. To add to our misery, after waiting for 15 min in the dosa live counter, i got a broken , ill made dosa and to justify it the dosa guys curses the dosa tava for the same.  • Few generic points to highlight on the room's condition: 1. No AC in common area 2. Stained toilets and non functional bath tub taps 3. Peeling off walls and dirty backyard 4. Ill maintained fridge with patches of fungus

Beautiful place... Lovely ambience in the restaurant and really good food. However the management staff were extremely rude during the booking process. We had booked an aqua bungalow more than a week before arrival and we were given one that had no maintenance whatsoever. Fungi everywhere in the bungalow and it had a funny damp smell. There were stains on the bed, towels were dirty, and the bathroom and pool were nasty yellow and green. The toothpastes were from a year ago. We had to call up the reception and then we were given another bungalow that was better but still needed more cleaning. The amount we paid for this was definitely not worth it. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The 2 stars are for the food and restaurant staff. The place could only save itself because of them at the moment.

Nice ambience. Check in smooth. Had booked 2 suits for my family but found out that there were about 8 rooms between our two suits. Was offered an upgrade and promptly took it after making necessary payments - after who wants members of same family separated for a family accommodation. Had a feeling that not enough thought was being given when allowing accommodation. It has to be looked in to seriously - if the hotel uses this ruse to force travellers to take upgrade then of course it is different. Food is costly but well made. Room service is adequate. Activity zone is good but came back empty handed at 6.30 AM in the morning as the activity centre was unmanned. Guess, morning activities are not encouraged by management. Overall, nice family stay not far from the city of Kolkata.
