Detailed Reviews
The hotel is kind of vintage- the rooms were okay-ish. We upgraded our room as the pictures were not matching based on what we had booked. The geyser hold very small amount of water thus you can refill bucket and wait for more water if needed. The breakfast was good. Didn't get to try the rooftop restaurant though. The staff are cordial.

Rooms are very small. Beds also small. Safa was small and only person can sit at a time. No proper ventilation. Lighting very low in room. No window. A door was there for balcony but it was locked and very dirty outside. Breakfast was below average. Toilet average. I stayed for one week during 6-11 Mar 2022 on official trip but I was not satisfied. But yes, location is good, safe for family travelers and roof top restobar is good.

Pros: Close to Park Street, Esplanade & exactly opposite New Market. Also very close to tourist destinations Victoria Memorial, Birla Planetarium, Indian museum. Breakfast spread was less, but very good. Mr. Imran at the reception & other staff were friendly & courteous. Good for family also.
Cons: Room interior was clean, but not clean up to the standard.
Toilets - Sanitary fittings were leaking & not operating properly. Also floor & wall tiles were old & require renovation.

Showing a very premium room picture during the booking, but in reality it doesn’t match even 30%. Reception faces are not smily and not cooperative so far. Bad smell comes from the room & lift. Not providing any slipper on the wash room, not providing any facial tissue which is so annoying. They just joined 2 beds and made on kingsize resulting severe back pain. Mattress doesnt fit on bed.. Not at all recommended, worst service ever i got though paid a very smart amount!!!
But, location is awesome truly.

This might be in the top five worst hotels I have stayed in in over 30 years of travel. Filthy, no hot water my first day and just like staying in a public toilet. I upgraded because their executive rooms have a lovely view of a brick wall and the upgrade barely any better. At almost one hundred dollars a night this place is absurd. No compensation for no hot water - just more charges to upgrade to another junk room. Stay away! The only positive is the staff and the bar.

The Lindsay has been a landmark in 'Chowringhee'. We stayed in april and celebrated our first anniversary, our stay at the property was pleasant and comfortable. Basic facilities and guest amenities were available. Smooth check-In, the gentleman at the reception was welcoming and professional. Lindsay has a prime location which is very convenient to visit the nearby historical sites and buildings. Unfortunately we couldn't experience the famous rooftop restaurant on our last visit, however, on our upcoming stay we would try to do so. I would recommend the lindsay, for a comfortable short staycation with good restaurants and basic amenities. Looking forward to our next visit soon..........!!

+1
The rooms are small and though I had requested a room with enough natural light, we were given a room with a small window. The runner on the bed was dirty. The fittings in the bathroom were old and semi rusted. Electricity went off twice with no battery back . Breakfast is charged at Rs 354 per person. We were charged Rs 3500 for the room for two of us with no additional benefit. Except for the location, the price is far too high. They should not charge more than Rs 2000 per room per night. I had recommended this hotel to my cousin for day use and the hotel charged them Rs 4000 for two dirty rooms for about 10 hours usage.
Also as far as possible please do not use Agoda because they do not have an Indian office and you are left in the lurch for any assistance.

The Lindsay is a landmark near New Market with a memorable history. We stayed in October and discovered best places in kolkata by foot. That is the best way to get to know a place. Our stay was very comfortable. Basic facilities and guest amenities were available. It was a Hassel free check-In, the gentleman at the reception was warm and professional. Breakfast was very satisfying. Lindsay has a prime location which is very convenient to shop, visit the nearby historical sites and buildings. If you are a shopper, I recommend the lindsay, for a comfortable short staycation. It is centrally located with diverse options of travel - taxi, metro and bus. Looking forward to our next visit to kolkata.

It is situated in a very commercial market area. It is even very difficult to figure out the location. There is no hotel like feeling in the entrance. It is just in the midway of a market. It may be good for sole business visits, otherwise not preferable for family with children. Rooms are old but its okay. The housekeeping and complementary breakfast are satisfactory. The good part is that it is adjacent to famous Hoggs market which is crowded all the time. The price is bit overrated.

There should not be any problem, atleast in a good reputed hotel, as long as you both have your govt.Id's. Your marital status is none of his business. Low range hotels do have some stupid concerns which are embarassing, so better avoid them.
