The cleaning badly let's the hotel down, the staff are over committed and rushed - it shows. The water marks on the walls in the bathroom, the dust behind the door and ontop of ledges. The dirt in corners. It could be terrible luck but because the rooms have NO sound proofing you can hear each step in the hall and the entirety of their conversation in the corridor getting a good night's sleep is not easy here. Staff did little to ask other guests to speak at quieter levels in corridors late at night, very disappointing indeed. The breakfast is mediocre, the breakfast room is too small and there was a queue for breakfast each morning. The wait for coffee, eggs, toast, yogurt was to much for a place that does breakfast each day - it's like they were surprised people wanted to eat. …
OK, It’s a good hotel. We have a decent stay in a premium room with balcony. Price May on the higher side as we came in Puja time. Why I have given 1 star less because of one day we did not do the breakfast from the hotel and we bring from outside and we wanted a plate from room service but room service strictly denied to give because of outside food which makes us very uncomfortable . Later they sent the plate to the room after I call the receptionist and told him about the incessant with room service. May be bad luck for us. The pros Specious room (premium). Very good location everything near by. With a balcony which is very limited option in Kolkata. Will stay again if they change some strange policies about the room service.
Excepting for the very courteous staff, everything else is best forgotten about this hotel. Was promised a large room with a balcony and 3 good beds. Was given a room that would make the best of humans claustrophobic, 2 single beds and one make-shift bed that would have you run to your chiropractor. The in-house hotel has minimum dishes and the chef is probably someone who is in his first job. Also, the entire restaurant is run with one or two people. So, phones will not be lifted, food will take forever to be prepared and served and the taste is simply forgettable. The buffet breakfast has anything worth mentioning. A room that can accommodate 15 guests will see more than 40 in the morning times. A hearty welcome to Covid. Again one or two poor guys who do their best to serve the guests. Location is very bad. Only Kolkata cab drivers can get-in and get-out of the narrow and dirty by-lane. The room had a safe which again wasn't working (no batteries). The hotel doesn't have a travel desk either.…
Breakfast and restaurant nice, room service very good. Room small but good...... Near new market, victoria Memorial, Indian museum, Eden Garden racecourse maidaan, pub disco etc just walking distance.
Kempton is a new hotel in Marquis street. There is no such hotel nearby so it is very popular among Bangladeshis. I have stayed quite a number of time in this hotel... but it is very difficult to get rooms at weekend or holiday season. Moreover they are charging for the kids in recent days. I sometimes feel the hotel is overrated! I like the Imperial room which quite spacious and the breakfast is also good
Stayed here for 5 nights while volunteering with mission of charity. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Food in the Lotus restaurant was super delicious and cheap. Ate every meal there! Rooms basic and a little dated but location, free wifi, restaurant, value and friendly staff make up for that! Thanks for a great experience!
Stayed there for 5 nights. Checked in around 9 pm, ager checked into the room, i was surprised as the room was very small. I stayed in the executive room, deluxe and standard rooms are smaller than this room as the hotel staffs said. The room looked big in the internet but in reality not the same. One thing about kolkata city center hotels, the buildings ater old, as a result, the rooms lok very tired so I decided to stay in a comparatively new hotel so I decided to stay here. Room and furniture doesnt look old but rooms should have been a little bigger. A lot of known people said to me, other hotels are cheaper and got big rooms. Another problem was, the pillows. Pillows are old and they are semi flat. Souls be changed. The location was nice. Near to new market, but not five minutes by walk as they say, u have to walk at least 15 minutes to get there. But recommendable if u don't like tired hotels of kolkata, stay here.…
I must say that this place exceeded my expectation. We arrived very late, but still got excellent service at the dead of the night. Rest of the stay was good too. I guess I will be back to this place if I stay in that area of Kolkata again. The restaurant was really really good for Kebabs and Bangali food. Enjoyed the meals thoroughly.
This hotel is in good location, room service is good, staffs are friendly and helpful, their buffet breakfast is delicious specially the desserts item. The metro station that is adjacent to hotel is Esplanade metro station. The deluxe room that we took was nice, the bed was comfortable. And there is another aspect that I liked most, that was various paintings hanging on the wall in each and every floor of the hotel. They were so nice and I spent a good amount of time seeing the paintings.
This was our first hotel, when we arrived in India. And it set a very good tone for our visit. The room was clean and fully functional, but not remarkable. However everything else about this hotel was truly remarkable. I particular the restaurant was exceptional. Evening meal wss as delicious as any food I've tasted in India and cost only about 1000 Rs (£11) fof two people. All the hotel staff, but particularly the restaurant staff, were most helpful, respectful and friendly.
