Nestled in the heart of Kolkata, ITC Royal Bengal is lauded for its central location, making it a convenient base for city exploration, though it's not without its detractors. While the hotel's value proposition receives mixed reviews due to some unexpected costs, the opulent amenities including luxurious dining and leisure facilities generally impress guests. The service is typically characterized as warm and professional, despite occasional lapses.
Cleanliness is a strong suit, with commendable housekeeping. Moreover, the hotel's elegant ambiance and spacious rooms are consistently appreciated, adding to its charm.

Over the week we tried all restaurants in the hotel was excellent did not have one meal we could fault, the staff around reception area’s was faultless ringing taxis even telling you the price even escorting you to the cab to tell drivers where you was going .all in all we had a superb time. Last of all kartiek from house keeping thanks for looking after us and the big smile every morning.

By living in Sydney I have experienced the western style and quality of hospitality and all I can say is ITC goes way beyond that. I have visited many countries and it has honestly been the best 5 star hotel experience across the board. As my family and I were celebrating my father's 60th Birthday we decided to spend a night at the hotel. As we approached the entrance we were amazed on the architecture of the place and the Royal welcome we got. We were greeted by smiling staff members at the gate and all throughout the common areas. As we were checking in I iterated the reason for staying at the hotel to the desk staff member Albert Michael, he was so kind and helpful he offered my parents an upgrade hearing it was my father's birthday and then he went beyond what he should do and upgraded my partner and myself to a bigger room as he noticed that I had just celebrated my birthday as well. He explained that he will be the point of contact for any issues during our stay. We were absolutely amazed at the decor in the room and spent hours just admiring the interior decor of the ensuite. For the price you pay you get 5 times more value. Not to forget to mention both my father and I were greeted with complementary birthday cakes in our rooms. The food at its restaurants were as good as some restaurant here in Sydney and I do rate the food. The breakfast and lunch buffets were so much more than how much you pay, it's lavish spread will make your mouth water even after 5 serving. I am normally a bad sleeper at hotels but I will admit I slept like a baby. Probably the only issue I faced was the length of the stay as checkout time came too quickly. As they have so many amenities I was only able to avail two of them which was the massage therapy and the pool. The massage made me feel like I was floating on clouds and the pool after made me it even better. Overall a 6 out of 5 star rating. And thank you again to all the staff there from doorman to cleaners to desk staff to restaurant staff and everyone in between. And thank you again to Albert Michael who made it such a memorable birthday experience both for my Father and myself. Will be back soon!

ITC Royal Bengal is a lovely Hotel in Kolkata. We prefer to stay in their Service Apartments, as they are very spacious, self contained and provides everything which is required in a kitchen and the laundry washing cum dryer machine. Another added advantage in the hotel being large open garden area for a walk. Koushikee from the Front Desk has been quick in providing the services to us. Grand Market Pavilion provides a very wide variety of options in breakfast as well as buffet. Neeraj and Islam at the Grand Market Pavilion provided great services to us during our dining. Skypoint Rooftop Bar is a nice bar at the top floor of the hotel. Partha and Rahul at the Skypoint Rooftop Bar arranged a lovely setup for our Holi Get together with our friends. Everyone who provided services to us needs appreciation but the ultimate credit goes to the Director Foods - Harsh Shenoy, who has been generous to organize our Holi Celebrations in a perfect manner and make our stay memorable.

I had a very mixed experience. On the good side: very nice common areas, very good spa and superb Italian restaurant. Some rooms nice and modern.
On the negative side:
Arriving after 8 pm I had to find the room not ready and to wait for more than half an hour. The “ luxury suite” booked, supposedly their best category, turned out to be rather dark, worn and smelly place. The smell reminded of smoking even so they did put it to their cleaning chemicals. I opted to change the room, logically resulting in a downgrade. They did offer to change the pricing for the one of an extended room and gave me my gold membership upgrade. This seamed to be fair. Unfortunately, only until checkout when I had to find out that they did take not the rate of the situation I did to my booking, but the very current rate. Since they were fully booked with a wedding, rate had grown up like 180%, which meant that the charge they were applying for the standard room was super close to the rate I had booked for the luxury suite. Giving a 10% discount on the spa (which would have been normal for my original booking as well) did not change much, but was the only thing they were saying they could do when I made them aware of this rather strange handling of the issue
So as a matter of fact I ended up paying more than if I had booked the room I ended up at the time of my booking and in addition at the time loss and hassle of first waiting for the room and then changing it.
Another thing was that the keys for some reason were deactivated the second day. If you have to find that out being in the bathrobe going back from the spa, it’s a bit difficult to just go down to the lobby… if you then call them and ask them to send someone to open the room and you are waiting in the bathrobe for almost half an hour (27 minutes) after your call, it’s not so nice…
And that you feel like being inside the sewage tubes, when the people in the room above you are using their bathroom, should also be taken care of.

I had high expectations from this 5-star hotel, but my experience was nothing short of frustrating. The front office staff were incredibly unprofessional and unhelpful. Check-in took forever, and the receptionist seemed completely disinterested in assisting us. Instead of a warm welcome, we were met with cold and indifferent service.
Housekeeping was equally disappointing. The room was not properly cleaned, with dust on the furniture and stains on the bedsheets. Despite multiple requests, fresh towels and toiletries were never delivered on time. The housekeeping staff seemed overwhelmed or simply negligent.
For a luxury hotel, the lack of basic hospitality is shocking. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay. Definitely not worth the price!

We were there for a three day stay on our way to Andamans. It’s a beautiful property with the exterior of the hotel very imposing and impressive. The lobby and rooms are also very elegant.
However the hospitality standards are not upto the mark be it the reception experience or the room service. I had a package which included 20% discount on meals which it took multiple visits to reception before they entered it in the records. The food in the Italian restaurant was nothing great and the buffet breakfast was adequate. The room cleaning was way below mark ( really needs to be supervised better)and in my three days they never replenished the coffee.
Overall did not give the experience of a luxury hotel and that’s inspite of me being a gold member.

We decided to try out ITC Royal Bengal during our visit to Kolkata this year as a friend had stayed there earlier and everyone was talking about this being the best hotel in Kolkata. Checkin was quick and the reception staff were very polite and efficient.
We entered our room (I think it was a Towers Executive room) and found it to be extremely dusty - while we settled in, a fine layer of dust settled on table surfaces and our suitcases. We had to complain the next day and ask them to do a thorough cleaning of the room. The room size was quite good though the bed seemed smaller than other hotels with a King bed. Requested for an extra bed and when we came back from dinner we saw they had given a rickety roll-away bed made up hastily with blankets etc all over the place (the bed actually had a remark on it saying “broken” :-) but not sure if it was already fixed before they gave us the bed). Called service looking for dinner reservations and they informed us that Avartana, Dum Phukt etc were all fully booked that night and only Italian was available. Well, Avartana was right opposite the Italian resto so when we walked over and enquired they said they had tables available - not sure if service even made the effort to check if there was space available in these restaurants before telling us. Asked for firm pillows and were given rock hard ones we couldn’t use. When we asked if anything else was available we were told that due to high occupancy everything was taken. Overall room very average and service quite poor.
Restaurant floor and ground floor are bright, beautiful and grand. Ottimo is great for Italian, and we loved the Darjeeling lounge (there were cockroaches roaming around but only the one time).
Overall I feel that the hotel is great to visit to dine in at the restaurants but is really not worth staying in. Next time we are definitely staying somewhere else.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I had a very bitter experience this time in your hotel. I have been a Platinum Member of various Hotel chains and have been traveling worldwide. I normally stay in Suites or apartments of the Hotels. Nowhere in the world in any hotel/s, the same Executive Lounge is being offered to the standard room guests, which is otherwise a privilege only for the Suite guests. I did not like your decision to permit all the hotel guests to jump in to the same executive lounge, making it a crowded Fish market. Due to overcrowding of the lounge inspite of the fact that few guests are asked to go to your bar 'The Brass Room', even the quality of food has been deteriorated badly and hygiene has been compromised. No proper butler service is being provided due to excessive rush in the lounge. The privileges, which suite guests should have been offered, are compromised by the hotel management perhaps to attract more standard room guests in the hotel. Due to the above sheer negligence, even we preferred to go to your Skypoint Bar at the top floor and rather pay for the privileges which otherwise we could have been offered by the hotel at their lounge.
It is my earnest appeal to restore the privileges being offered to the Suite guests in a respectable manner and do not mix it wih Standard room guests. In case you continue to offer the lounge privilges to standard room guests as well, you must create a separate dedicated service area only for the suite guests.
Your immediate action would be greatly appreciated, as I am still a resident guest in your hotel.

I am currently staying till 29th, checked in fairly late with prior intimation. First surprise no Bell boy to help with luggage. The 2 bedroom apartment is nice but towels are fairly shabby, stains in the washrooms. What really got one going was the absolute chaos in the breakfast, queue of 25-30 mins, every item takes another 30, everything on offer runs out !!!!
