We had a great stay at Calcutta Bungalow, the hotel is fantastic. The staff were incredibly helpful, the included breakfast was tasty and plentiful and our room was large and well decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was good too. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Kolkata.

We found this hotel to be a perfect place to stay. Staff at the front desk and at the breakfast bar were super friendly and efficient. Breakfast was the highlight of our day. Any requests were dealt with promptly Beds are comfortable and the room was a good size and vety clean. Great to see an old building restored and repurposed. Good value for money.

It was an excellent stay. The stuffs were amazing. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast spread was phenomenal and the portions were huge. We could almost skip lunch everyday; we were that full. I'd definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.

Me, my sister and my mum stayed at Calcutta Bungalow for a day and it is an experience I will carry in my heart for a long time. What a unique place. Right in the heart of Shyam Bazaar, in the midst of a bustling market, walking distance from Vivekanand’ house (which worked perfectly for my mum), a house so esthetic, and hospitality that matches the best. I wanted to eat at the local market but on my sister’s insistence, we ended up eating at the Calcutta Bungalow and the food left us happy in our bellies. The complimentary breakfast is to die for - it’s so perfect. We went on a walk with Calcutta Walks, and it is something that should not be missed. Iftequar, who leads the walks, is clearly very passionate about the history and culture of Kolkata which is evident in the amazing walks he conducts. In short, Calcutta Bungalow had our heart in less than 24 hrs, and we can’t wait to come back.

We had an amazing time in Calcutta bungalow. We arrived quite late in hectic Calcutta, but the staff made this place and oasis of tranquility. The place looks amazing and the rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable (and has a great bed, which is not a given in india). We were planning on finding a restaurant, but ended up staying on the hotels rooftop, and we didn't regret it for a second. Great food, supernice scenery and staff going out of their way to make it a fantastic night. loved every second of our stay here qnd cant recommended this place enough!

Liked · The time & effort it must have taken to decorate and provide such a lovely space was very much appreciated. That heritage feel is throughout the whole building. Very beautiful. The room I was in was on the small side but very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean with a reasonable shower pressure. It was definitely my favourite hotel of the entire trip to India. Special mention to Manorajan for his hospitality and looking after me so well. All the staff, though, were professional & friendly & good at their jobs. Breakfast for plentiful & enjoyable. Continental or Bengali available. Tea & coffee was available throughout the day, no charge. It was a lovely touch. Disliked · I almost want to say nothing bad about this place. However, the Air Con unit was extremely difficult to control. They have painted it to match the colour of the brickwork, but they painted over the sensor too, so you could only turn it on by standing in one spot at a particular angle. It was very frustrating at times. The other issue with the Air Con unit was its positioning, directly above the bed. Having that rush of cold air whooshing down on you was, at times, very uncomfortable, so I had to turn it off whilst sleeping, which meant I got very hot at times. There is no fan in the room to use instead. My other issue, and this is not a major one, but they have rows of old-fashioned switches on the walls with no labels for that they controlled. They look good, but I ended up switching them all on & off to figure out what they controlled. Perhaps some labeling would help? Also, the WIFI wasn't great. A lot of the time, it connected without any availability of the Internet

First of all big thanks to Keya, Tuhina, Shweta, Wassim and the 'boys'- what a first class team. Best service ever from you guys! The hotel is stunning - in looks, character, charm and personality. I slept so well. The food is excellent, especially the Bengali breakfasts. Kolkata wouldn't be Kolkata without Calcutta Bungalow. Just go there - you'll love it.

the staff was amazingly accommodating. friendly and warm. the place smells divine and looks beautiful. The room was clean. i especially loved the copper bath tub. i highly recommend this place to anyone visiting kolkata. the terrace was my favourite place to eat. the food was healthy simple and delicious. i did not meet the chefs but they were lovely. they waited for me to eat even though it was past 9pm. call out to Sandeep, Manoranjan, Hemanth, Swetha (for organizing my massages), Wasim for the airport pickup and Sujit.

This is an amazing unique property. The attention to detail in the retro design of an old small building (1924) on a quiet side street in the Shyam Bazaar area of Calcutta. My room was huge with ornate fixtures high ceiling, and the public space is extraordinary as well. The knowledgeable staff is attentive and very personable. Breakfast excellent. Highly recommend.!

Calcutta Bungalow was a fabulous find. It is a beautifully renovated and restored hotel with lots of character. All of the staff are delightful. It is an easy cab ride into the more touristy areas. The Hotel is linked to Calcutta Walks and these are great too. Very informative and enjoyable thanks to their excellent guides. Highly recommend this wonderful place.
