Special place - set in amazing and beautiful place. The place is calm and peaceful. The team here are gentle and caring. I am gluten and lactose intolerant- the chef offer such a wide variety of food - brilliant. This should be and every travels buck list.

Our family travelled recently to Ging in August 2023 and were a large group taking up the entire villa. This was our first experience in the hills in the monsoon season which we usually avoid, and for good reason. We saw several landfalls along the way that had happened in the previous days and it was an eye-opener as to how difficult life is in the hills. Ging was a extremely welcoming property with their warm team of onsite/offsite staff. Each room has a different character. The food by chef Rajat is always a luxurious 3-4 course affair, yet very homely. Mikesh, Prema and the team are always available to attend to every little need and Andrew, the manager has a hawk-eye on the goings-on. We were treated to a lovely musical evening, hiked through the estate, chatted with the locals and were taken to a very educating tour and tea tasting at the Ging tea factory by Mikesh. We played a bit on the billiards table there, read books, had plentiful of the tea although the second flush doesn’t quite measure up to the first. We were literally walking through the clouds and mist and it was quite a relaxing experience to spend time at this very well-maintained property. On the one day we didn’t have rain, we visited Darjiling and the in-house drivers deserve special mention for navigating those difficult landslide-ridden roads. Going back there anytime I need a break !

Our experience at Ging tea estate was unique. This property was built in 1864- well refurbished and maintained keeping the character! Our experience was made special by the staff- Andrews ( manager), Nikesh, Prema , Anju, Rajat ( chef) and other members. Every tea break was with premium first flush from this tea estate along with freshly made cookies and cakes! Lunch and dinner were three course meals with so much variety! The tour to tea factory by Nikesh was simply eye opener. We hiked through the estate and Nikesh was our guide to local life in tea estate! We visited the primary school, temples and churches, mingled with local people. On our way back we have been lucky to see Kanchanjanga! We had visited other parts of the region and the experience was really fabulous. This is expensive and I wish, the very people making the experience outstanding, should have right compensation! We booked ours through Travel Bagicha who attended to minute details of our need!

We loved our stay at Ging. Absolutely gorgeous location, a beautifully restored bungalow. The food is good and so are the people. If you are a nature lover, this is a place for you. What can really make this experience at Ging a 5 star is a little more attention to hospitality, a little more warmth and personal attention. Few examples, provide home-made jams instead of sugary bottled stuff, ask your guest or give them a choice from your set food menu, this makes them feel more involved and cared for, they do provide most things when asked. But over all 4.5 stars. Very good. We would surely like to return and recommend highly. Thank you Andrew, Alka, Anju, Nikesh, Raju and some others I ve missed mentioning, for a lovely stay. We would love to return.

Beautifully situated with views over the Tea Estate to the mountains beyond, this small - 8 rooms - hotel is a former Planters' Bungalow dating back to "The Raj". Rooms have been very tastefully restored and furnished. In the public areas there are Raj era antiques - including a full size billiard table. All meals were delicious and there was a great choice - even at breakfast - served on the outside terrace Service was just superb and staff were so very helpful. In the evenings as it got colder, a wood fire was lit in our room to boost the temperature. We also enjoyed walking to and touring the Ging Tea Factory and then on another day being taken on a walk through the Tea estate and visiting villages and houses whilst being accompanied by a very helpful and informative staff member. We look back with very happy memories on our stay in "Blue Lady Suite" at Ging Tea Estate - certainly one of the highlights of our 3 week tour of Darjeeling and Sikkim. Thank you Andrew and all your team, thank you !!

The stay at Ging was a dream one. We had planned it years before, and could come to live it in actual this April. Mind you...it is expensive! But sometimes the money spent is not much compared to your take back. And there, Ging Tea House is certainly going to surpass all stays. The first thing that takes your breath away is the lovely colonial bungalow. Seems to have come out of a story book. The warm welcome by the Manager and other team members would certainly make you feel good after three and half hours drive from airport (if you aren't caught in a traffic jam). The rooms are excellent. Lots of space and exquisitely furnished. All amenities like towels, geyser, toiletries, tea/coffee maker are provided. The rooms have cupboards and drawers to store your belongings . There is a common room(lubrary), a lobby with awesome view, a dinning space(dinner is served) Outside is an open space for you to relax . Breakfast and lunch can be enjoyed out here. The service and food are excellent. Even your beds will be done for the night!! We went with our aged family members and the team looked after all their needs...starting from providing warm drinking water to lighting the room fire! The food served is yummy (understatement) Last but not the least....and perhaps the best is the location. I have never experienced such peaceful stay anywhere else. Amidst the green tea bushes with the misty hills beyond...the birds chirping...the unstopping musical performance of crickets...you are transported to heaven

Ging Tea House was an amazing experience. We opted for the Victorian Plan and ended up in the Blue Lady Suite. We were the only guests during our weeklong visit. Peace, quiet, comfort- exactly what we were looking for. Services were excellent. Everyone involved were professional, courteous, and made us feel very welcome. Kausik (off-site accounting) was flexible with our requests. Andrew (onsite manager) checked in with us frequently, and Satyajit (driver/chauffeur) helped us by recommending places to see nearby as well as entertaining any wishes we had. We never had any problems accessing the car for any of our day trips. Nikesh (attendant/server) even accompanied my wife through the trails in the tea garden while I had to work. Head chef Rajat was a trained chef with attention to culinary detail that impressed us. Expect non-Indian/non-local food to be Indian-ized/local-ized- very similar how my own family in India may have cooked Western/non-Bengali food. The food was still very good and portion sizes were often more than we could ever eat. Given we live abroad we may have enjoyed a little bit more local or Indian cuisine. However, we also understand that there is a history of Western food that is unique to Darjeeling and other such British Raj era hill-stations. We noticed that effort was made to provide amenities as much as possible in such an old bungalow in the hills. We had no problems staying warm. Large water heaters/electric geysers were installed for hot water. But don't expect running hot water to last very long in the shower. Wifi experienced interruptions, so working from Ging could be difficult, but manageable. Finally, all services and amenities were as advertised on their website unlike a lot of our previous experiences with boutique hotels in India. It would be wonderful if Ging accepted international credit cards that would provide a level of consumer protection / insurance to foreign visitors. With current payment and cancellation policies prospective visitors may be hesitant to book Ging.
