The Tea House is located inside the tea estate and has lovely views of the mountains. The house itself is very well maintained with an archaic British touch to it. The rooms are large and well decorated. We enjoyed the stay and the hospitality by your staff. The scenic beauty from Ging Tea House is breath-taking. We loved the calm and beauty of the place. The food was nice. Every day different cuisines were served and not a single item was repeated. Staff at Ging Tea House made us feel special everyday from breakfast to dinner. I recommend everyone who’s looking for a hassle free time with a loads of greenery and beautiful views of the mountains all day long in Darjeeling they should definitely try this property. We will never forget our stay there.
We went there seeing all the reviews and the pictures online and hence had reasonable levels of expectations. First off the place is very cut off from the city, easily a. 30-40 minutes drive. Secondly the place is not maintained well, you can smell Mold in the place, walls have cracks, bathroom shower cabin door is hard to move. Tata Sky connection was turned off and took a a good one hour plus to turn on, this should have been turned on before the guest arrival. The food provided is average to say the least, the staff serves food and after one helping take it away ! We asked for honey and were provided with a watered down version of it. For breakfast the jam that was served was Kissan Jam ! The toiletries provided in the bathroom are not even enough for one person and not of a great quality. They charge more than 21 K a night when you get the likes of Elgin and Wyndamere at half the price providing a far superior client experience, service levels and product to the customer. The place is like circuit house or a government guest house of the bygone era which has sadly not been maintained at all. On the plus side I will like to acknowledge Mr. Andrew and Kausik for being understanding and issuing me a refund for the remainder of my stay. I write this review only so that people can be aware of the reality and make a more informed decision.…
Situated among the tea garden, the bungalow seems to be vintage. Rooms are spacious and comfy. Service and hospitality is awesome, feel pampered. The morning breakfast in garden is a must not miss. Not much to do, just relax and enjoy. Place is 49 minutes away and down hill from Darjeeling
The Ging Tea House is in a wonderful location about 30 minutes from Darjeeling. It is quiet and peaceful and a nice place to relax. The drivers were great, from the airport and taking us around to the local sights. The food at the meals was good, and gave us a great variety. A few things were not so great. Despite our bank following the wire instructions to the letter, then sending additional information, the wire was not accepted by the receiving institution. We paid by credit card upon arrival, but I don't understand why in 2022 this isn't an option for all travelers. Next, we had sent the manager our preferred itinerary a week before our arrival. This included a trip to Tiger Hill for sunrise on our first morning. Upon arrival, we were told that we could not go the following morning, because they did not get tickets. Instead, we told him we would just watch the sunrise from the property and have tea. The first morning, we had teat in a kettle, sunrise at 6 AM, and everything was great. Sadly we did not get the morning tea on the next two days, despite requesting it. The afternoon and evening teas were served only by the cup, we did not see the tea kettle again, which was odd. Not sure if they have a shortage of tea kettles or if they just decided to give single servings after our first morning. The second night there, a couple had dinner served by a fire outside. We asked about that and were told we would have that tomorrow. Needless to say, that did not happen. Strange that they would offer that up and then nor follow through. The staff is hardworking and responsive, but I would say the overall organization and maintenance needs to be improved. Mold is abundant around the building, especially the washrooms. There was also very little input or discussion on itineraries. We were basically left to figure out our own itinerary, which we are capable of doing, but it would be good to have some local expertise and input. It would be good if they had some pre-printed itineraries that you could choose from. Menu boards would also be a nice addition, just t let the guests know what the meals will be. Also, perhaps selling some emblematic merchandise- tea cups, tea kettles, tea, T-shirts (get it?). Would have been nice to have some kind of memento from the property. Again great location, relaxing, but temper your expectations if you think you will be experiencing great service and pristine rooms.…
Few words can portray the experience had at Ging Tea House. Blessed with great views off the main porch, the bungalow is located in the middle of a sprawling tea estate. The place is tastefully decorated, but what makes the stay exceptional is the warmth and the helpfulness of the manager Andrew and the staff. The meals served here is exceptional. Great place to unwind, bring a book or two and take long walks along the tea estate.
Loved my stay here!! The way the place is done up is just so stunning! The view is breathtaking with acres and acres of tea estate and hills ahead of you! Watching the sunrise here was such a serene experience. We got a tour of the tea factory too! The staff is outstanding, they are friendly and so helpful. The food is delicious and you eat your breakfast in the lawn area overlooking the green hills! I had an amazing experience here with my family especially when Darjeeling town itself has become so crowded and polluted a secluded place like this is much needed to understand the real beauty of that place. Keep up the good work team!
We stayed at Ging for three nights. The view was excellent and so was the service. The wi-fi was strong too. The food was nice. Every day different cuisines were served and not a single item was repeated. The sightseeing options were plentiful and the manager was great. Overall, we enjoyed staying at Ging and would recommend everyone to visit this beautiful and hospitable place.
We stayed in Ging Tea House for 3 nights and boy, we thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, serenity and tranquility of the place. Night views of hills across the valley with thousands of city lights in front of you and feeling of staying under the cover of clouds was surely breathtaking. We used to did hiking to nearby places everyday. Couldn't explore much because every place was closed because of COVID-19 lockdown. Staff at Ging Tea House made us feel special everyday from breakfast to dinner. They would customize food for you, whatever you like is on the house. They have indoor games, library too. And the hotel architecture is too good to die for, from colonial era, that looks as fresh as it was built yesterday. We stayed in Blue Lady Suite and it was the best room in the hotel. I would also recommend their Airport transfer.…
We travelled to Ging Tea House from Delhi. I stayed at the property with my parents (senior citizens) and children (11 & 9) from in Oct. 2021. Our stay was one of the best we've ever had in our lives! Ging is a treat for the eyes, balm for the soul, peace for the heart, and a sheer joy for all the senses. The property, the breathtaking tea estate, the hills... everything is simply majestic. We were promptly picked up at Bagdogra airport by Kiran from Ging. Since I had told them we would be a family of 5, they sent 2 Innovas which was very smart since that allowed all of us to sit comfortably in one car while our luggage came in the other car. The drive from Bagodgra to Ging (beautiful drive) takes usually 3.5 hours, but that day it took us about 5 hours since we got stuck in the worst traffic jam in Darjeeling city due to the upcoming festivities for Dussehra. We were quite exhausted from our travel (which started very early from Delhi) but when we arrived at Ging in the afternoon, all our fatigue vanished! We were immediately struck by the sprawling British bungalow and the serene beauty of the place. We knew we were in for a treat for the next 3 days! We had breakfast outside everyday under the beautiful seating area Ging has overlooking their own sprawling tea estate and the mystical hills. We could hear the chirping of the birds as we sat there over endless cups of the best Darjeeling tea (picked at Ging’s tea estate) and we soaked in the clean, fresh air. The breakfast was delicious. The main menu for breakfast was different on each day with either poha, cutlets, and puris with sabzi being served along with any kind of egg/omelette, jam, butter, toast, cereal. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-hour leisurely breakfasts every morning surrounded by amazing natural beauty, lush greenery, peace, and quiet. The package included lunch and dinner as well. We had Indian, Chinese, and Nepalese food during our stay. We enjoyed all the home cooked meals that were prepared with love and care. The bedrooms were large and clean and the beds were super comfortable. We slept very peacefully on all 3 nights (I wish we could have spent another few nights there!). The loos were also very spacious with a Geyser, a good shower, and even a seating area! Only advise would be to carry your own soap for bathing since the soaps provided are quite small. The property provides free Wi-Fi which mostly works well. We didn't face any major connectivity issues while were there. The staff was outstanding. Mr. Andrew was a perfect host. Smiling, pleasant, and always willing to be of assistance. We had asked for cars to take us around Darjeeling and to Mirik Valley and Ging provided us not only with comfortable cars (Innovas) for a family of 5 (at no extra charge), but also with polite and courteous drivers. All the staff at the tea estate, including Raju, Anju, Prashant, chef, and Kiran were so well mannered, humble, helpful, and just awesome. Ging has 6 bedrooms. We stayed in 2 of them and we made friends with some of the other guests also staying at the property during the same time. We had evening drinks and snacks together in the beautiful, spacious lobby. We enjoyed playing snooker on the large snooker table and we loved the view of the night lights scattered around the hills that we could see from the lawns. Ging is a perfect place to unwind, forget all your troubles, and just immerse yourself in the best of nature the property has to offer (along with its outstanding service). Staying at Ging is a once in a lifetime experience. It should be fully enjoyed. It is for people of all ages, My young children enjoyed it as much as we adults did. The cost is definitely high, but I would say it is worth every single penny. We simply fell in love with Ging. We will never forget our stay there. Now that we are back in Delhi, we marvel at the beautiful photos we took and already dream about when we will be back!…
The place is personified by its hospitality. Mr. Andrews and his team is exceptional in taking care of every small detail of their guests. Unlike most other star rated properties, here you get a personalised touch which adds a whole new dimension to your holiday. You just feel like you are in your own backyard which is very comforting. The Tea House is located inside the tea estate and has lovely views of the mountains. The house itself is very well maintained with an archaic British touch to it. The rooms are large and well decorated. My favourite part of the stay here was just being able to sit in the garden and enjoy the breakfast and the evening tea. The dinner experience in the beautiful dining room was very royal. The highlight was the born fire organised by the team. If you want to enjoy a relaxed vacation and experience really good service, this is the place. These guys arrange everything for you and all you have to do is just be there and enjoy. Darjeeling is a very popular tourist attraction. But when you go there, try to keep a day just to enjoy the tea estate and the property. You will not regret the experience.…
