Golden Orchid-The Lodge is a newly refurbished family-owned-and-run hotel located 5 minutes walk from Darjeeling's iconic landmark Chowrasta/Mall Road offering a friendly and comfortable stay. We have something for everyone and are popular with both backpackers and families alike. The hotel offers 13 well-appointed rooms of all sizes- single, double, triple, quadruple &studios rooms. They all feature attached bathrooms with showers with 24-hours running hot water service, LED TVs with cable channels and free high-speed Wi-Fi internet connection. The Patio Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a delectable mix of local and international favourites. Enjoy our freshly ground organic coffee sourced from South India or the world-renowned cup of 'Darjeeling'. All food are seasonal and sourced fresh from the local markets. My 2nd time at the Lodge and this time around the Patio Restaurant had undergone a face lift and the Indian & tandoor was amazingly delicious.
Sadly a recent fire had destroyed the upper floor rooms and the owner's residence but there wasnot a slightest hint of the fire.

Pro:
Good clean comfy rooms in budget with good balcony views. Beds has warmers.
We got room with Good view but there is only one room with view but they have common balcony foor view.
Cons:
it is very far. No Cab will go there. You will have to walk uphill. butcher shops on the way.
We didn't like the food from restaurant. Dal and roti was not good.
We had a cab booked for early morning and around 12 in night a family can to room adjacent to ours. They made so much noise and staff didn't do anything and there weren't even present in reception to take complaint.
I explicitly told the staff the were will check in around 6am and no person from staff was there for check-out. We tried every number we had and no one answered. It took us some time and effort to check-out which affect our plan of early travel to avoid traffic.

Very good location & good food. But the rooms have bad odor due to the carpets not being maintained properly. The walls in between the rooms are also thin resulting in lots of noise pouring in. The breakfast is very good though it took time to deliver

I would particularly point out to the poor service that they have. Miscommunication itself is enough to land you a single star in sa sector that thrives on positive consumer feedback. Not quite surprisingly the manager didn't know how to behave and was pretty great at making my friends feel uninvited. Charging us with hefty amounts and then making us feel like trespassers, something that none of you'd appreciated. The only thing he was great at, was the persistence needed to drag a predefined argument. I would not ask you to shun this place at first glance, as the overpriced food, ambience and view was palatable. But I'd definitely ask you folks to think before you invest on rude reception and poor management.

I won't recommend this hotel to anyone ever. The manager should learn how to behave, he was very rude, om the day of check out we were an hour late . For this silly thing the manager behaved such a way as if we stayed there free of cost even though we were ready to pay extra charge. Don't book this hotel just seeing the pictures of the room the way we did, service was worst.

This is a strict mention about this hotel. I comr with my family in june. Read good review. But was dissapointed to find not so. A woman general manager very arrogant and say no to everything. Tells no smoking inside but smokes herself in the dinning, a doggie is dirty inside the dinning. Outside a restaurant with green plants ,very beautiful but no space to eat only drunken men and women. Food very costly and less in quantity,when asking they only smile. Not recommend for family

Worst Experience! Never ever book this hotel.
The staff over here is not cooperative they don't know how to talk to customers. Manager is so unprofessional. it's worst than a 3rd graded lodge...Worst Staff And Worst experience.

This place runs on good service and people friendly management. Mr. Paul is amazing person who gets the job done here.
Location is very near to Mall Market (helps if you like the buzz and try to stay near mall market).
They have in-house cafe which probably considered as backpackers den.
Food quality should have been better for few items also, few people takes advantage of way to much flexibility of this place. That is something to be considered.
I would recommend this place for a longer stay if you’re a bachelor and trying get a bachelors pit near mall market.

The hotel has very good amenities and is very clean. It is also close to the market where we can find hotels which provide all kinds of food. Best rooms for the Best Price is provided in this hotel. Mr. Paul, Manager of the hotel was a very kind person and helped us throughout the stay. The only downside is that cars cannot reach the hotel entrance and we need to walk for around 800 m to reach it. Bhanu Bhawan is the closest place for pick-up and drop.

The lodge has a nice homely vibe, alongwith great interior designing. The rooms are pretty good and clean. Most of the staff as well as the owner are helpful and welcoming. Service is good, food is great too, and one of the best experiences there is probably spending time in the wonderfully designed patio.

1900 rupees for 3 person room. 1 single bed and 1 double bed.

Motorbikes cost from 1000-1500 depending on the models and bicycle hire are available near our hotel.
Hi there, it's a 20 minute lightly uphill walk from the station. Come via Chowrasta square just past the SP cottage. Cheers.
The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Chowrasta/Mall and have to walk a couple of flights of stairs to get to the rooms.
They will drop you at taxi stand, they can't go any further. And my family didn't like the long uphill walk and stairs (in hotel) to get to the room.
Not aware of power backup.
Geyser is there and its good.
I am not sure if they provide room heater but they have bed warmers which heats up the beds.
I don't recommend this hotel for anyone who has problem walking like senior citizens.
