The Viceroy Hotel garners accolades for its charming ambiance, replete with British-era elegance and cozy interiors, which many guests find delightful. Its prime location offers stunning Kanchenjunga views and convenient access to city attractions, a highlight for visitors. While the rooms are commended for comfort and views, some guests feel they are on the smaller side.
The hotel's service stands out for its warmth and professionalism, and the amenities, including diverse dining options, are generally well-received, although some inconsistencies are noted. Cleanliness is a strong point, with the hotel maintaining high standards throughout.

Detailed Reviews
I had visited the hotel in March 2021. I received the best hospitality from the entire staff. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The food was also very comforting and delicious. The ambience was very nice and extra care was taken to meet the COVID 19 standards. The chairs were sanitized after every use and the plates were clean, hygiene and were placed in a warm container.
We appreciate the efforts taken by Mr. Arindam Sen who took special care in making our stay very comfortable and memorable.
Book this hotel for a safe and hassle free stay!

This was our first out location trip with our toddler and were anxious about amenities at the property for safe and memorable experience.
The rooms were maintained well and on our request the staff was very courteous to provide us another room with a bit of extra space. The staff is very professional, prompt and helpful.
Hotel is at the prime location with walking distance to the main mall street.
This review will be incomplete without the mention of Mr. Arindam Sen (F&B Manager/Dy. Operations Manager). He is gem of a person and will go an extra mile to ensure that guests' comfort and needs are met. His personal touch, kind gestures and friendly behavior made our trip memorable.
A suggestion: If there is a possibility to extend the elevator till the parking area (street level), it will add to the convenience.
Overall a property which I can refer to friends and colleagues for their next trip to Darjeeling..!!

A good place to stay with a great view of the Kanchenjunga peaks. The staff is very courteous and always ready to help when needed, especially the restaurant lead by Mr. Sen and his team. The food offered is very delicious with a breakfast and dinner buffet. The location is quite close to the mall road of Darjeeling and is a 10 minute walk.
To get to the reception of the hotel, one needs to climb 15 to 20 stairs and the lift that takes you to the 5th floor also starts from the 1st floor so do keep that in mind when traveling with the family. The view from the 6th floor viewing gallery is also great.
The heaters provided in the room work from 5 in the evening to 5 in the morning. The hotel rooms are kept neat and clean by the staff.
There were no New Years celebrations on the 31st of December which came as a bit of a surprise to us.

We, a total of 4 person stayed at Viceroy Darjeeling during Durga Puja 2021. The hotel is situated at a very good location while Keventer's just 2 min walk away. Unlike other hotels in Darjeeling, this one also have lift facility within. We had two double bed executive rooms booked, but they have upgraded one of them to Premium room at free of cost. View from room is quite good, though they have a splendid open air sundeck to sit and enjoy the beauty of Majestic Kangchenjungha. Mr. Arindam Sen had taken care of my entire family very gracefully during the buffet breakfast and dinner spread, which was quite yummy. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my fellow travellers for making their Darjeeling trip memorable.

We had availed the spine chilling package provided by Hotel Viceroy. Stayed at the top floor attic King room which provided a wonderful view of the Kanchenjunga. The room was comfortable with good amenities. The day trips were very enjoyable. Kumar, our driver is a highly expert driver with steady hands and we felt very safe with him. Food was very tasty, a bit overpriced but quantity was always more than sufficient. Breakfast menu is a bit repetitive with a little low on options, for example standard items like sausages and boiled egg were missing. The attic room was wonderful, but had a few minor problems like the dressing table drawer completely comes out when slightly pulled and since it is heavy, can be inconvenient and a bit unsafe. The wonderful window view is not fully utilised because the curtains of the huge window cannot be drawn aside and fastened. The water pressure is low, which prevents one from using the shower. The hotel amenities are sufficient, warm and comfortable. However, a small gym can be a good addition; a short workout in the morning will certainly be very appealing and healthy. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and whenever we go back to Darjeeling for another vacation, we will opt for Hotel Viceroy again.

The Stay:
If I would like to say what was the best part of our Darjeeling trip, I will call it Hotel Viceroy. The rooms were well maintained with all the minute nitty-gritty. You can have a full view of the Clock Tower and if you are lucky enough you can see mighty Kanchenjunga from the room as well. I would highly suggest not to visit Tiger Hill if you are staying in Hotel Viceroy since the view you will experience from the upper deck is even better plus you don't have to wake up at midnight to reach Tiger Hill.
The Food:
If you are someone who likes to avoid junk foods or overcrowded restaurants at your vacation, I would suggest to try out Hotel Viceroy's fine dine restaurant. They serve quality food which are made with utter hygiene and you will get a homely taste too. You can get a variety of cusines viz. Chinese Cuisine, Indian Cuisines, English Cuisine. The breakfast buffet also has a loads of option.
The Staff:
Everyone from the Viceroy team are extremely helpful and super friendly. They are ready to hear all your concerns. I would like to give a big thanks to Mr. ARINDAM SEN. He is a person with great hospitality skills and you will love to have a conversation with him. The way he interacts with every guests seems like he knows each one of them. The way he manages each and everything in the property is very professional.
Overall we were very pleased with our stay in Hotel Viceroy. If at some point we visit Darjeeling again Hotel Viceroy will be our Stay Destination. A big thanks to the entire team.

Overall, a clean and neat hotel with prompt service. Maintenance is a little laidback, and the property is badly in need of upgradation in certain departments - especially the bathrooms. We stayed in the Queen room on the 6th floor, and enjoyed stunning views of the Kanchenjungha every day, from the attached deck. However, housekeeping needs to be more careful (cups were unwashed, corners of the room were dusty) and food could be better quality (the buffet menu has very less variety, and alternate days are repeats!). Standouts among the staff were Mr. Ali, the manager, who was very helpful. Also the restaurant manager, Mr. Arindam Sen, was extremely cordial and a great conversationalist. To sum it up, it was a good experience.

Me & my family (pax 4) stayed at the Viceroy Darjeeling from 11-13 June 2022. The hotel is located in a very congested area with parking for 1-2 cars. One has to climb a whole couple of stairs to reach the 1st floor reception. There was a mixup in the bookings so we were given 1 room each on different floors 4th & 5th floor. Room no 403 & 506. Room no 403 was like a dungeon. So tiny and cramped. Dirty bed linen. Cobwebs in the room. Very filthily kept. No plug points. Dirty bathroom. I was bitten by a spider in the eye and had a swollen eye for 3 days. We are thankful to the management for shifting us the next day to the topmost floor with 2 adjoining rooms King & Queen with a lovely deck. It was a saving grace! Old style Lifts are from the 1st floor to 5th. So one has to walk up the stairs. The Mall Road is in walking distance of the hotel.
The only saving grace was Mr. Arindam Sen at the restaurant. The vast spread of food was fabulous & delicious. The meals were served on time. Served piping hot; Mr. Arindam took extra care of the needs of each and every guest at the restaurant. He welcomed each guest with their names. We thoroughly enjoyed his impeccable service & his warm hospitality and company and shall fondly remember him & recommend his service always. He is an asset to the hotel. Mr. Ajit Singh & other team members too took care of every guest. We were more than satisfied with the food & service.

The location of the Hotel is excellent and the views from our Attic Premium rooms was fabulous from where we could see the Kanchenjunga. We had booked 2 rooms and both had a balcony and a sit out. It’s a 3-Star hotel and reasonably priced. Expectations from breakfast should be kept accordingly. the staff was very friendly and helpful.
We could easily walk to various restaurants near the Hotel. Glenary’s was an excellent restaurant about 10 minutes walking distance.
The rooms had a small heater which kept the room warm and comfortable during the chilly nights. We did spend a lot of time in the balcony sipping tea and hot chocolate in the beautiful cool weather.
