The place is located in Kalej valley,Rangbull, about 10 kms away from Darjeeling. The resort is built in the midst of a tea estate which is functional from 1860s which is maintained by the local tea leaf pickes. The rainbow waterfall is also situated nearby and u will surely enjoy having your beer half submerged in the pool and enjoying the nature's paradise around you.

For the first time I travelled solo and Kalij valley, as it is popularly known, blew my mind away. I fell in love with this place at the very first sight. Though Rainbow valley resort is not the only accomodation here, it surely is the best. The famous Indrani Chhago or Rainbow falls is a 5 K.m walk from here. One must walk all the way down there to witness a rainbow formation over the falls. It is a wonderful sight to look at. Everything there was very nice, be it the staff, the food, the atmosphere.

This is a to the point review only intended to help the future travellers.
Approach: From Siliguri to Darjeeling, cross Sonada rail station and drive further 5-6 km. Then on the left comes Rangbull more. A downward road to the left leads to the resort (5 km). The road is in horrible condition but manageable by Santro, Indica and SUVs. I got a Santro and reached without much problem. From Rangbull more on Hill cart road, the road passes through Rangbull village, Upper Kalej village and then resort at Kalej Valley. From Rangbull more one can get a car up to the resort or pick up service can also be availed from the resort. The price range is INR 400-500.
Resort: Amazingly located in a slope. It has total 6 rooms. 2 separate super deluxe cottages. 3 deluxe cottages attached to each other. And 1 standard room. Best rooms are Rock (super deluxe) and Gladiolus (deluxe). In December 2014, the room rent was INR 1200 for standard, INR 1700 for deluxe and INR 2500 for super deluxe. Rooms are very well maintained and clean. Comfortable bed. Television and a quite good and clean toilet. The moment you reach the resort and look at it from the main gate, almost everyone will feel love at first sight. The resort has a small but extraordinarily beautiful garden, with lots of known and unknown flowers and may be some orchids. They have few domesticated turkeys as well. And the surrounding scenic beauty will take you to a different world. The sunrise and sunset are not so special but overall I just loved the place.
Service: As per my experience, the staffs are extensively supportive and well behaved in all circumstances. They will provide hot water any time.
Food: Good options considering a totally remote place. Tasty foods with reasonable price. If you need something special, inform them in the morning and they will arrange. Camp fire, barbecue chicken will be arranged on request.
Activities: Rainbow falls 2.5 km from resort. Nearby tea garden visit.
Contact: http://www.rainbowvalleyresort.com/
Suggestion: On Hill cart road, a sign board or indication board to the resort will be very helpful.

It is a a hidden gem a midst the beautiful mountains, surrounded by tea estate......... where u can hear the continuous chirping of birds.........
There are 5 cottages in total. We stayed at the Rock(name of the cottage)
Cons:
Reaching the place was really tough for us. At the main Rangbull market, we asked many people about the resort but they donot know about it. So make it a point to ask someone from the resort to escort u from the market to the resort.
The road to the resort is doable but is really in a bad shape..............we got the information later that due to the recent construction of a pumping station just near the resort very recently heavy vehicles using that road caused the pathetic condition. They hoped it will improve soon.
Pros:
1)Food: mostly all the vegetables were grown by them using organic fertilizers. For non-veg. local chickens were served from their own farm........... we had thalis which were simple, tasty and off course healthy.
2) Hospitality: Great.........superb..........excellent
3)Location: living in the tea garden, facing the mountains among the chirping of trees.......what more can u ask for :)
4) Rooms: complete wooden rooms.........with great sense of interior designing........... bathroom is clean with enough space and geyser fitted.
Special note : Do not forget to sip a cup of hot darjeeling tea each morning........and u can ask the people of the resort to arrange some hand made tea leaves for ur purchase just the way we did.

Very peaceful and quiet place. Its only the nature and you along with the resort caretakers. Don't miss the early morning trip to the rainbow falls. The place is quite hidden from main road. So best option is to ask Simone Rai, (the proprietor, and a very friendly guy)to pick u from your starting point. Good for a day far away from the maddening crowds.

Yes, this is a place of endless peace in the hills of North Bengal. The first glimpse from the road above the resort was breathtaking as it is tucked in the slope of a lush green tea garden. Cottages painted in different colours were looking like a permanent rainbow! The rooms are small but cozy, toilets are clean. Food is simple yet mouthwatering. People are good, though we could not meet Mr Salmon, the owner of this beautiful property. The natural beauty of the area along with the village on the way are very interesting along with a pretty waterfalls. This is really a lesser known heaven, not very far from the famous hill station Darjeeling. One can easily visit popular places of interest in and around Darjeeling from Rainbow valley Resort.

The way to the resort is bit tricky and far away from the Darjeeling city, but when you reach the resort it is worth coming. It is deep in the woods, a gem amidst the mountains.
It is an awesome resort with great views. You won’t find any inch of garden or greenery without a beautiful plant or flowers. Sunrise from the room was awesome. Waking up listening to the birds chirping, gives a feeling of serenity. The staff was extremely courteous, very friendly and had a great service.
Everything was excellent - The 180-degree view of the landscape, the food at the restaurant and the fireplace. Because of its well-maintained lawns, there is seating available right outside your room. There is a waterfall nearby where you can go via trekking.
I strongly recommend it to everybody and would like to visit again someday.
Pros –
Beautiful Location and View.
Nice flora and fauna.
Bonfire.
The staff was extremely courteous, polite, helping, friendly and had a great service.
Food was excellent.
Cons-
No Networks on the phone.
Tough to reach the resort, owing to lesser "Direction Boards" for the resort and steepy gravel hill road.
No hospital / Medical store nearby

Visited on 15th August 2019 with a group of 14 school friends (all aged about 51 years, friendship for last 45 years, since Class 1 in 1974).
The place is about 5 km down from Rongbull bazaar, between Kurseong and Ghoom.
Rainbow Valley Resort is owned by Mr Simon Rai, a well mannered gentleman supported by his wife.
The resort is amidst tea garden overlooking green mountains. We saw even deers around the resort. The food and hospitality was awesome with the Rai family personally taking care of us.
The season being monsoon, the whole area was covered with mist with occasional rains and clouds entering the rooms.
We stayed there for 4 days with a day tour to Darjeeling.
Will highly recommend this place for a short tour with friends and families.
