About

#22 of 219 hotels in Darjeeling
We are one of the oldest (and prize winning) Colonial Hotels in India - with reviews from the Asia Pacific National Geographic Magazine and The Sunday Times of London. We offer truly authentic and original suites from the colonial tea planter days, with absolutely FULL BOARD (4 MEALS PER DAY). Our hotel is world renowned, with many famous film stars and other celebrities finding a path to our door. Truly a "destination and not just another hotel". It is like being invited as a private guest and asked to stay and relax for a few days. We are aptly described as "one of the last Colonial Homes in the World". We have both Colonial Suites & Cottages, as well as standard and superior accommodation.

This hotel has issued 3 fake GST invoices to me . They all have invoice number as "0". Repeated requests for a valid invoice have fallen to deaf ears . Every time I call them , they make lame excuses . I will report this hotel to the GST officials for issuing fake invoices to it's guests . They have No accountability, service and hospitality after payment is received by them . The rooms do not have even the basic amenities for a comfortable stay . Please AVOID this hotel . Thank you for wring Mr. Agarwal. First of all, I apologise for the late response. We are playing "catch up" as we have just changed our website and for a short time could not access Trip Advisor. This is what I found 1. you booked through Booking Dot Com so they will have your GST invoice. That said, we do have a copy of it here, so if you could call our GM, Mr. Gupta, he can send it to you. Kindly call: 08617036440 and then you will receive a copy of this booking.com booking. YOu then stayed on to join a certain group here, so they would have paid for all of their participants. You can also discuss this with Mr. Gupta, GM. Again, thank you for letting us know

A wonderful experience, especially the evening Dining. The staff were great and the atmosphere delightful. Spoilt by rooms that were cold on arrival and should have been warmed before. No one on duty at night when food poisoning required medical attention after 5 hrs of struggle! A little more thought and this is a must place to visit. As said the staff were excellent..

I Expected old colonial and that is what we had. but the room was dark and we had to leave the electric heaters on to be comfortable. No bathrobes available which was a pain. Food was ok and service was good although some of the staff did not have a clue re. what was expected ie pouring white wine into warm glasses. when we mentioned this we were told "oh, the glasses have just been washed". it was a different experience not entirely pleasurable

I apologise that your glasses were warm. This has been reported back to the Head of F&B. From March of last year we were struggling due to pandemic mandates from the State of West Bengal. Quite a few things have changed since your stay with us. Kindly give us another chance once the foreigners are allowed to enter (due to lack of visas in India). We can offer you a special rate. Until then, I do hope that all is well with you and your family. Again, we are also sorry for this late response. It has been a difficult time. God bless

We were really looking forward to this fancy afternoon tea we had booked. First of all it was really hard to come in contact with them to make a booking. They never answered what time we should arrive and I sent two emails asking. It wasn’t much of afternoon tea, scones where dry, the cream was frozen and the cakes were dry. For the price you pay you do expect Newley baked scones and cakes. Service was okay but nothing extra. I would say it’s not worth the price and it feels like they still are living on a old reputation.

Hotel dates back to old time but its just ok ok. Price is too high when you compare hotel. Rooms are named to different people who stayed in hotel. Although its different experience to stay in such a colonial style but still price is on the higher side.
