Villa Everest was built in 1904 and is located at 1 A.J.C. Bose Road, Darjeeling, which was then known as Auckland Road during the British Raj. The property belonged to the former mayor of Kolkata, Shri Kamal Kumar Basu, who sold the property to us in the year 2007.

This building has been carefully reinforced and the basic layout of the building has been retained. We have added one floor to the structure that has the Attic Rooms.

This establishment is a 11 room family run hotel that offers a comfortable stay. To get in touch with the latest all rooms are fitted with LCD TVs with cable connection and also have Free Wi-Fi connectivity in all rooms. So while on vacation at Darjeeling, Villa Everest offers rooms that are comfortable, decent and well equipped with views of the Singalila Range and of Mt. Kanchendzonga from every room.

This heritage hotel has a lot of old-world charm to it, especially in the rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food in the cosy restaurant downstairs (both breakfasts and dinners) were tasty. The only disadvantage was the temperature in the room - it was quite cold, but the mobile heater and the electric heated blanket helped to alleviate it. It is around 15 minutes walk slightly uphill from the main pedestrian area, in a tranquil location.

We travelled with family with kids and have stayed three nights in November'20. Check-in was very professional during Covid days and our luggage was thoroughly sanitized. They have automated sanitizer dispenser at the main entrance. We were alloted top floor rooms with great view. Food was homely and tasty. We tried both Indian & Continental and both were equally good. They provided heated blanket and room heater at no extra cost. Big geyser in Bathroom with shower panel was really very helpful. The only issue may be that the main gate & Kitchen are closed at 8:30 PM and literally hotel service goes completely off by that time. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We give 10 out of 10 to Villa Everest Darjeeling for their hospitality, food, accommodation and service. The generosity of the Host, Mr. Justin is heart warming. The attitude of the personnel towards the guests is worth thousands of praise. The food is outstanding, be it the continental breakfast, Indian breakfast or lunch and dinner. They prepare the food to highest standards. This is our first stay in Villa Everest but definitely not the last. Any time we come to Darjeeling in the future, Villa Everest will be our choice.
It is walking distance to Keventer's, Glenary's, Chowrasta and Japanese Peace Pagoda.
Built in 1904, and nicely renovated, Villa Everest has nicely decorated rooms, with well equipped bathrooms and good hot shower. There is electric kettle, complimentary tea and coffee and mineral water in the rooms.
We want to say a big thank you to Mr. Justin for the beautiful morning talks, for the excellent food and accommodation he provided, to Kailash and Esther for being so helpful and nice, to Kenny, Niraj, Suman for being so attentive and caring and of course to the chefs who created such beautiful and delicious food. God bless you

It has been such an exceptional stay at Hotel Villa Everest. We (my parents and I) had visited Darjeeling last week (October 2020) after so many months of confinement at home due to covid. This hotel is such a lovely place to stay that I momentarily fell in love with everything it had. Amazingly courteous staffs - Bondon, Esther, Benny and Kailash. They are lovely people who take care of you with utmost love and warmth. This hotel feels more like a home. It's 116 years old house that has been converted to a hotel by its current owner. Entire hotel has wood flooring, beautiful crafts and paintings all over, spacious rooms with all amenities that one requires, spacious and cozy bathrooms, sumptuous meals. Breakfast was so sumptuous and filling. They give a combination of Indian and English breakfast, and it's very tasty.
Coming on to the view that the rooms offer. You get a mesmerizing view of Darjeeling city and the mountains surrounding it from every room. If sky is clear, you get to see the Kanchenjunga right from the room window. Hotel is situated at a calm location on a 6-8 minutes walk from the Mall road (Glenrary's to be precise). We had stayed on the second floor (Room no. 10). It was a kind of a suite. It had a sitting lounge with beautiful sofa and paintings and crafts along with the room.
To summarise, this hotel is something you shouldn't miss. Believe me, they're lovely people whom you are going to miss when you leave. It's worth every penny.

Stayed in Villa Everest during my 3 night stay in Darjeeling. The hotel was a small charming owned by locals. It was very clean and there was a space heater provided in the room as well as a heated mattress pad which made it very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and there was a small and reasonably priced restaurant next to the lobby which is convenient for meals when I didn’t feel like walking to downtown, about a 10-15 minute walk. The only downside to the hotel was the wifi wasn’t that great.

A nice quaint budget hotel at a slightly uphill place. Very clean and decently maintained and just because there are few rooms it makes even more manageable . Then breakfast is very simple with no options but they make your stay every bit comfortable . The rooms are big and the wooden interiors make the stay spirited . With the sub zero like temperatures only the heating inside the room needs to be modulated as the room heather , thermo bed cushion and the blankets aren’t enough! Yes they need to have a serious look to their kitchen team as the food they serve needs to be worked upon !

The only feeling that describes Nirvana is LOVE.
Not love of the mushy variety , but as of love and care. Each inch of the property has been made and is being maintained with loving care. We were to stay for two days and move on to Darjeeling, we extended it to three wanted to stay more, but they were already booked.
In every nook and cranny of this boutique is book rack, quite a few really, filled with varied books. Amazingly , there was a small notice asking the guests to enjoy reading them and take back a few as memories!!!
I came to know that the retreat , is owned by Mr Ghosh ,who was top brass with one of the F100 MNC s.
You will realise that this is his dream and labour of love, each corner decorated with unique artifacts of his travels worldwide.
He had left just the day before we arrived ,I really wish we could have met him.
The entire staff, who are mostly locals, will beat any five star crew of the best colleges hands down.
A very loud shout out to our superhost Adriana and her team, specially Suraksha .
The manager Vishal, and chef Praveen. kudos to you too.
Please certainly do stay here .
Go for real long walks in the glades and the woods of the surroundings, disappear in the mist, sip endless cups of the finest tea and play with Teddy the resident mongrel and his mates.
To Mr Ghosh:
A couple of small additions we need for the next time Sir.
A swing or two for the kids in one of the gardens, a small playroom with some games and of course a lovely children's book rack for those foggy evenings before dinner.
Thank you Nirvana for being able to create dreams.

Villa Everest offers very nice service. The food is quite tasty (we had chili chikn). Safe for girls. Rooms were very nice and sanitized properly. We even got heater which literally saved us. The view from hotel was amazing. Kanchenjunga was visible. 15 mins. Of brisk walk from Keventer's. The day we were returning they even packed sandwich for us even though their kitchen was closed which is really thoughtful.

Due to COVID19 we are planning to cancel our travel for now. We booked the hotel via booking.com with the help of pointers from Darjeeling.tourism website managed by gentleman called Raj. The cancellation policy had said 50% post few days of booking but the hotel people were rally helpful and cancelled the booking without a fee. You have stood out to be best guys we will definitely stay with them when I’m Darjeeling.

We would like to thank the team Villa Everest for their warm hospitality. We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay.

The rooms are clean and warm with 24 hrs water supply.
Thankyou to the housekeeping staff.

The young team looked after our every need whether it was replenishing the tea bags/ water, TV connectivity or serving us at the dining space.

The food served was good and piping hot with excellent portions, especially the breakfast spread.

We wish the team all success.
