Villa Everest was built in 1904 and is located at 1 A.J.C. Bose Road, Darjeeling, which was then known as Auckland Road during the British Raj. The property belonged to the former mayor of Kolkata, Shri Kamal Kumar Basu, who sold the property to us in the year 2007.

This building has been carefully reinforced and the basic layout of the building has been retained. We have added one floor to the structure that has the Attic Rooms.

This establishment is a 11 room family run hotel that offers a comfortable stay. To get in touch with the latest all rooms are fitted with LCD TVs with cable connection and also have Free Wi-Fi connectivity in all rooms. So while on vacation at Darjeeling, Villa Everest offers rooms that are comfortable, decent and well equipped with views of the Singalila Range and of Mt. Kanchendzonga from every room.

It has been such an exceptional stay at Hotel Villa Everest. We (my parents and I) had visited Darjeeling last week (October 2020) after so many months of confinement at home due to covid. This hotel is such a lovely place to stay that I momentarily fell in love with everything it had. Amazingly courteous staffs - Bondon, Esther, Benny and Kailash. They are lovely people who take care of you with utmost love and warmth. This hotel feels more like a home. It's 116 years old house that has been converted to a hotel by its current owner. Entire hotel has wood flooring, beautiful crafts and paintings all over, spacious rooms with all amenities that one requires, spacious and cozy bathrooms, sumptuous meals. Breakfast was so sumptuous and filling. They give a combination of Indian and English breakfast, and it's very tasty. Coming on to the view that the rooms offer. You get a mesmerizing view of Darjeeling city and the mountains surrounding it from every room. If sky is clear, you get to see the Kanchenjunga right from the room window. Hotel is situated at a calm location on a 6-8 minutes walk from the Mall road (Glenrary's to be precise). We had stayed on the second floor (Room no. 10). It was a kind of a suite. It had a sitting lounge with beautiful sofa and paintings and crafts along with the room. To summarise, this hotel is something you shouldn't miss. Believe me, they're lovely people whom you are going to miss when you leave. It's worth every penny.

We give 10 out of 10 to Villa Everest Darjeeling for their hospitality, food, accommodation and service. The generosity of the Host, Mr. Justin is heart warming. The attitude of the personnel towards the guests is worth thousands of praise. The food is outstanding, be it the continental breakfast, Indian breakfast or lunch and dinner. They prepare the food to highest standards. This is our first stay in Villa Everest but definitely not the last. Any time we come to Darjeeling in the future, Villa Everest will be our choice. It is walking distance to Keventer's, Glenary's, Chowrasta and Japanese Peace Pagoda. Built in 1904, and nicely renovated, Villa Everest has nicely decorated rooms, with well equipped bathrooms and good hot shower. There is electric kettle, complimentary tea and coffee and mineral water in the rooms. We want to say a big thank you to Mr. Justin for the beautiful morning talks, for the excellent food and accommodation he provided, to Kailash and Esther for being so helpful and nice, to Kenny, Niraj, Suman for being so attentive and caring and of course to the chefs who created such beautiful and delicious food. God bless you

Due to COVID19 we are planning to cancel our travel for now. We booked the hotel via booking.com with the help of pointers from Darjeeling.tourism website managed by gentleman called Raj. The cancellation policy had said 50% post few days of booking but the hotel people were rally helpful and cancelled the booking without a fee. You have stood out to be best guys we will definitely stay with them when I’m Darjeeling.

This heritage hotel has a lot of old-world charm to it, especially in the rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food in the cosy restaurant downstairs (both breakfasts and dinners) were tasty. The only disadvantage was the temperature in the room - it was quite cold, but the mobile heater and the electric heated blanket helped to alleviate it. It is around 15 minutes walk slightly uphill from the main pedestrian area, in a tranquil location.

Well-maintained 1907 property with heaps of character. Very obliging staff. Good bathroom with plenty of hot water. They turned on a radiating heater and an electric blanket for my arrival. Good dinner choices well-prepared The rooms are large and tall, so heating is an issue. In February with damp cold conditions, it was an uphill struggle to get the room heated. Not their fault - just a facet of an old building in a damp cold month. Breakfast was slightly random in terms of what they brought - the only real choice being the type of omelette. But you might get cornflakes with hot milk, and/or baked beans, bacon, chips, and sausages on the side. As well as toast, butter and jam. Need to decide and order dinner at least 45 minutes before sitting down to eat. Location is around 10-15 minutes from the main street, but only a 5 minute stepped pathway to the train station.
