Travellers' Choice
Tieedi Dwellings is our humble endeavour to rediscover our connect with nature. We have handcrafted a few abodes in our forest garden by working with the local artisans and applying the regenerative principles of permaculture. It is a blend of the age-old tradition of earth houses using local resources with the comforts and amenities of a holiday home. It is offbeat and may not be for everyone but if you believe that connecting with nature is a nourishment for your soul, this is the place for you.

If there is a place you ever decide to go to, then let it be this one. No matter what phase of life you are in, a little bit of tieedi will do you so much good. It’s a little miracle in the forest waiting to enchant you. I wrote a little poem to put into words how truly heart warming my experience was and I am sure you will leave there feeling ever so poetic too ! A place between two worlds To feel a sense of belonging, in a way which isn’t rational, it’s unfamiliar and poetic. To know nothing of a place while at the same time feel like you know everything about it. Every day feels brand new. Wanting to jump out of your warm cozy bed at the break of dawn, to feel no exhaustion after being tired for so long, like an energy with a source unknown. To not tire of the food you eat, to sleeping a dreamless sleep. Flowing through these moments, brimming with possibilities, you find yourself become the need of a tiny little thing who needs some sleep, a tummy full of food and a heart full of love meet in the forest and find what’s enough. They dance in circles and sing little riddles. Saving each other in hugs, kisses and miracles. It’s a place where you find what you are looking for, even if it’s unknown to you, it will find from the depths of your swirling mind, not want you want but what you need. It may come as a surprise but do accept for it knows you better than your best. And in the end when you have what you need it will send you home with what to keep, and when you’re back safe and warm, You will think of a home away from home. You’ll long to find that place again walking under the shadow of trees, sunlight peeking, singing streams, chirping birds, swaying breeze, walking up sloping stones, and as the trees part the sun will shine, the path will lead to where you found A breath of fresh air, the warmth of care, of a loving home with a family of folks who smile and dance with furry friends, fruits & flowers, swinging hens and the hermit who lives to tell his tales of jungles and mountains and shamans and more, most are true and while some are you know….. ;) But like a tree he grounds himself takes the dark and makes it bright. His place is a place between your two worlds, you come as one and leave as whole. The Forest garden will live on to change the world for those who want, it will be there when you need to come and find yourself all over again.

I’ve visited Tieedi twice within a span of 3 months, all the way from Bombay. And it’s safe to say that one can’t have enough of this place. The beautiful forest, the sound of the stream, the soulfully prepared food, the beautifully curated dwellings, the warm, welcoming people, Chungi & Koko (the doggos) and most of all the amazing work they do as a community is an inspiration. Thank you for such a warm welcome every time and making me and my friends feel right at home.

I booked a guided tour with them to see the place through airbnb. It is one of a kind experience.. The experience gives you a slice of amazing people, place and philosophy.. From the very first minute of meeting the people associated with this, I felt at home.Utsow's team is totally into the work they do and their passion reflects while they explain you about their work. All of them - Saurabh, Spoorthy and the team have created this beautiful little self-sustaining world through extremely simple but impactful technology and strategies that even a layman can apply and understand. Be it the technology of waste management, energy consumption, architecture, or be it simply co- living with nature and the neighbourhood. It has something for everyone. Go for it!

While searching for local sightseeing in Kurseong, we suddenly came across of TIEEDI and at the moment we saw the pictures, we decided to book a hut. Few days ago, we visited the place and the place was everything we expected to be. The hut was among the forest and there was nothing artificial. Room was spacious, clean and had a specific down to earth feeling about it :-) Now the people of TIEEDI was fantastic. We should mention about Sourabh, Rehman, Ruhi among others who tried their best to attend our every needs. They arranged our tours, attended our needs. Rehman was an awesome cook and he could make any food more tastier than others. Overall, it was very pleasant experience and if someone is looking for some beautiful and calm places near Darjeeling, they should definitely stay here. Last but not the least..two adorable ones...chungi and coco, they could make your stay more pleasant. :-)

During these dark times we planned a holiday to refresh our minds and soul . We were searching for places which could be safe and not too crowded in such circumstances when we came across te eedi on facebook . The place appealed to us immensely . We are people who prefer a bit of adventure and close proximity with nature . Our stay at Te eedi was a unique experience to be cherished forever. It is quietly tucked away but we were very fortunate to have found Te eedi . We spent 4 nights at te eedi and were mesmerized by the rustic beauty of the place . To start with , all the volunteers there are extremely soulful and warm. They made us feel perfectly at home, played games with us and made our evenings gayer. I would like to make a special mention of Rahman uncle who along with being a great human being is also a wonderful chef. The food is very homely and pleases the taste buds as the main ingredient used is love . We had some awesome dishes at te eedi , most of them cooked by Rahman uncle . The sitting area is very cosy and a perfect spot for book lovers like me . There is so much to explore in the resort itself and there’s something exciting hidden in every nook and corner. Its the best place to lose yourself among the surroundings and then find yourself anew . It is absolutely amidst the forest and passing the jungle gives you a thrill everytime. We had an exciting trek to a waterfall and stream which are perfect photo spots. We have captured some amazing moments behind the lens at te eedi . The thing which I love about te eedi is that its a no plastic area and the team really works hard to preserve the environment by having introduced the zero waste policy. They have amazing ideas and projects . The best thing is they execute the ideas and thoughts so well . Its a pleasure going round the farm and admiring their hard work. I learnt a lot about perma culture during our stay and it caught my interest . It seems that it has the solution to any problem . We stayed in the Air Dwelling which is pretty basic but all the same cheerful. It has the power to brighten up any gloomy soul as it is decorated with colourful things. You can just spend your time roaming about in the forest garden . There’s tranquillity all around. And since the place is so serene I feel its a really good place for meditation and practising yoga. The service which we enjoyed was commendable and we were like a happy family together. Our hearts brimmed with happiness and our faces were lit with a lovely smile . We were one with nature. Its a suitable place for people who like to be in solitude amidst the wilderness . The weather is quite chilly and we needed warm clothes in the evenings. We felt it was home during our stay and all credit goes to the team for making us feel so . It was heart-wrenching to bid farewell to this place . It has given us so much , some of the best experiences of our life . The pet dogs Coco and Chungi gave us company and were are entertainers during our stay , much to our delight. Altogether the place is full of life and can rouse anyone who is bored and inactive during the lockdown. It gives you a wonderful opportunity to leave your electronic gadgets and accept the gifts of nature . Te eedi has motivated and created a spark between Mother Nature and commonplace ordinary people like us. Thanks a ton to Utsow and the talented team of Te eedi for making our trip so memorable . You will always be close to our hearts . We promise to come back soon for a longer stay . Its my greatest pleasure to recommend Te eedi to everyone . Lastly the meaning of the name Te eedi – “take it easy. Easy does it.” has now become my mantra . Lots of love and best wishes for the Team.
