Detailed Reviews
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Mount Royale. The hotel staffs were very helpful and friendly. The best part of the hotel was the electric bed heater as well as 24 hours hot water supply. There is also a terrace on the 6th floor from where one can have amazing views of the Darjeeling town. Last but not the least. the hotel is very close to the famous Darjeeling Mall. My best wishes to the management of the hotel. Cheers :)

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Mount Royale. The hotel staffs were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very close to the famous Darjeeling Mall. The room was cozy but had an amazing view outside the window. WiFi is available for 24*7. Lift was not working as maintenance was going on. Overall had an nice experience with this and happy with their services. I would personally recommend to go for this hotel when you are in Darjeeling. My best wishes to the management of the hotel.

...It's finished. We stayed for two nights. There was construction work all day long. The power did only work during the day. At night no light and no heating no charging for cellphones and no hot water. The restaurant on the rooftop would have a nice view but because of the construction work it was closed. We had our breakfast in the room but without chairs.

Wow.. I mean like it was totally worth it. I stayed here for 2 times n believe me guys no other hotels in darjeeling could match their services. I always used to come directly from Kolkata towards my hometown Sikkim and its like second home for me.. Mr.Bimar, Mr.Arpit and my handsome uncle Mr.Roshan (I c my grand father on him) always welcome me with their warm and fresh smile. Sorry I forget the lady name.

Location is bad considering it is on private road near to SP bunglow.you and family have to walk till TV tower nearby place. Some taxi drivers even refuse to come near that tv tower. Rooms are small.it is ok for people who prefer walking around .In terms of breakfast and food inside the hotel is good.Manager of the hotel was cooperative and nice.
Don't expect any views from the room.walk to Mall road is around 10-12 min.
Considering overall it is not worth.

The hotel is very average one and had a stay for two days during end of May 2019.
To start with the positives:
1. The hotel location is at the city centre
2. Neat and clean bathrooms
3. Breakfast is limited to few options.
Negatives:
1. No Car parking or commute to the hotel by Car. The street leading to the hotel is very narrow and you may have to walk 500- 600 meters to get the hotel. Not suitable for the elderly or the ones who are not ready to walk the steep path to the hotel
2. You may have to carry your luggage dragging (500 ~600 meters) through the filthy and narrow streets with / without the help of the hotel guys. To make things worst the hotel did not have a functional trolley to carry your luggage.
3. The lift / elevator can accommodate a max of single person if you are well built and can be best described as claustrophobic.
4. I was unfortunate to get 2 rooms at 5th floor one was opposite to the kitchen and another adjacent to the kitchen. The noise of using utensils / cutlery and sound from the table used for cutting vegetables all of them emanating from the kitchen was highly disturbing and felt like we were staying at the kitchen itself. To add to that the burnt smell made the matters worse. Keeping the room door shut did not help to insulate the noise by any way.
5. The service of the hotel manager was totally unfriendly. we requested him to change the rooms but he declined stating that these were one of his best rooms and he did not have any vacant rooms at that time. We then asked him to cancel the booking due to the issues mentioned above but he was rude and unsympathetic and insisted on full payment for the cancellation. We had no option except to stay, walk each time to the cab at steep incline 600 mts away, and it was horrible experience for the oldies who came with us.
6. we did raise the issues with booking.com through which we booked the hotel stay. Infact Booking.com people were courteous and tried to help me out with genuine intent. I did raise a formal complaint with booking.com
7. The deluxe rooms were no more than 80 square foot and not worth the rent they charge for.

I stayed here for nearly 4 weeks due to plans elsewhere not working out so although I obviously had a big bill in the end it was still about the equivalent of at week in a similar hotel in the UK!
The staff are very friendly and helpful, organising a taxi for me to the Panitanki Nepal border for 4000 IR. Daily housekeeping is great. Really comfortable bed and blankets, and the efficient electric blanket is super! Cable channels are good including UK/USA movies and BBC World News.
Great location, short walk to Chowrasta Square. Some road noise and noise from the guest house next door so earplugs may be advisable.

My USA living in laws booked it through Booking.com. With our previous bitter experience we were apprehensive of disparity between real and propagated standard of the hotel. My wife was specially doubtful. But, when from TV tower crossing we were escorted by hotel boy I suspected good thing and when I reached there I instantaneously smelled success as this is not of those ghastly filthy hotel posing as good one. Though less spacious like anything near mall, it had two person lift which is already a boon. Then the deluxe rooms had an extra sofa making it more spacious. And lo and behold, their wash room was exceptional. It had everything needed. There were more surprises. Tv worked so well. And the master bed, yes I should call it by that name. Not only the bed is very comfortably thick it had fitted with it workable body warmer. Even their blankets are lovely. There is warm air circulator of Bajaj make. And the staffs, they were less in number considering of season but they worked with a smile. However no supply of tea or coffee sachet could be seen in spite of asking though they have hot kettle in each room. Everybody was afraid of rain, but there was not only no rain first day we could see Kanchajunga peak from hotel roof, yes our hotel roof, and there was Sun. We saw cloud and fog and rain and always got back to hotel easily. And food, their breakfast is good, specially morning Hakka veg chow, everybody liked. Their main course lunch I found spicy but it's OK. This hotel made our holiday successful.
