Very good looking and nice hotel from the outside...But you go into the rooms and omg... Our bathroom had cold oil everywhere on the knobs...it was like somebody had had an oil bath months ago and left it at that..so the oil had frozen on the knobs.. The room had a fan with the regulator not working..so either you had the fan moving at full speed or you just switched it off.. I complained at the reception on an everyday basis..we were there 3 days and a total of 6 people came to have a look at it and left promising to rectify it but no sign of it.. There is no restaurant in the hotel so if you need food they order it for you and charge an enormous surcharge.. Unclean but super expensive for anything...we had a good weeks stay scheduled in Chennai but we checked out in 3 days and moved to a better place at almost the same cost

Hello friends after a long time I booked at Hotel Shelter-Mylapore. Front office team greeted me in very nice way. They follow all Protocols. Rooms are neat and clean. Breakfast is really good. I spent some time in indoor games as well as gym. Only two kilometres to Marina beach and 300 meters to temples. People who travels chennai must try because of local culture and exploring gives happiness.will refer my friends and families.

This hotel is in the vicinity of several large hospitals and clinics making it a convenient, reasonably priced hotel for those visiting Chennai for medical treatment. The staff are great, the rooms are comfortable, the restaurant is very ordinary and very slow with mostly Southern Indian vegetarian dishes. The internet is amongst the worst that I have ever been provided in a hotel. Unable to load popular applications such as gmail or Facebook and an eternity to load websites. People sitting outside of their rooms to get a decent signal. Don't stay here is you need reliable, workable internet. Stay here if you don't care about internet.

I came to know about Shelter Hotel thru close friends and I contacted Shelter Hotel management for my trip to Chennai on April 26th, 2016 to watch the IPL match . The friendly staff from the hotel were at the airport to me pick me promptly . The hotel is located at a very nice area in Mylapore and staff from bell boy to service manager were very customer friendly . I cannot thank them for the services they offered me to ensure that my stay and IPL experience will be worth remembering for a long time. The GM of the hotel ensured that the guest experience in terms of quality of service offered whether it is food, transportation, safety etc was prime. Being a foreign national , I felt I was cared for and I give them a 5 star.

This is a nice hotel to stay. The location is okay; easy to find on Google maps. The ambience of the room is good. Washroom could have been nicer; ergonomics is not that good. But I would surely recommend others to book a room here.

I stayed here for a night and was part of a training batch. As I entered the hotel, exterior didn't give much of the warnings but the hotel lacks the basic sense of hygiene and comfort. Although mine was a corporate booking, hotel had sent the confirmation mail, i had called up prior to reaching etc, the room was not ready (i reached around 5 pm). The front desk person was yelling at somebody over phone for not keeping the room ready. Delay wasn't substantial, but it was telling about how things run here. Once in the room, was greeted by flies and mosquitoes. When asked to sort out, the solution was - open the window and chase them out. Bathroom was smelly and run down and you could hardly see yourself in the mirror (ref: pictures) I had asked for iron and was provided with one. They do not have any board to iron on. There were only 2 plug points near the tv. When asked where and how to iron, the staff removed all the coffee maker stuff from a small table, placed them on a chair nearby and looked at me :) language was a barrier too ! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Eventually asked him to get one bed sheet at least to put on the table. Somehow managed to iron and then I had to keep the entire coffee maker kit back on the table. For the night dinner, I ordered in. It was good quantity of Biriyani but could only eat part of it as it was too greasy and below average in taste. The fan in the room was so noisy that for couple of minutes i was wondering if it was coming from the street. And yes some mosquitoes were still very much in the room. Morning complementary breakfast was terrible. They tried to imitate any other business hotel buffet. But lack of standard, quality and hygiene was evident all over including the staff. Uniforms were unkempt. All the food kept were cold (8am in the morning) Hence asked for a Dosa. That's all I could eat. Conference day- the cloth covering the coffee table was so stained that white of the cloth was almost invisible. The boy who was serving tea coffee was throwing the sachets and trash on the floor right at his feet !! Washrooms are one floor below and i have seen better public urinals for sure. Why are you in business if you can't guarantee basic comforts and amenities???
