This is my second visit to this hotel in a period of one year.

Usually we stay at Courtyard Marriott ( Teynampet) which we consider to be the best VFM luxury hotel in Chennai in terms of luxurious rooms, quality of service, food and value-adds like Complimentary upgrades, early check-in/Late Checkout, complimentary Airport pickup/drop, Complimentary cocktails in the evening at the lounge etc.

But that is until now. I think now the mantle has fallen on Raintree St.Mary's Road. Superb on all counts.

I think the best aspect was that this is one of the very few luxury hotels in Chennai that offers(in some of their packages) 24 hrs check out facility. ie if you check in at 9 pm in the night you can check out at 9 pm the following night. Very convenient for us.

I think the other luxury hotels in Chennai should learn from this hotel as to how to introduce guest friendly practices.

The only thing that was a bit of a dampener( and I am probably nitpicking) was the service in the lounge when we were there during the complimentary cocktails. There was only one lounge server ( always unsmiling) behaving as if he is doing a favour by offering us complimentary drinks. They don't refill ,we have to ask everytime. The snacks is all crap( some stale fryums).Since my wife does not have alcohol, she requested for a Cappucino. The lounge server says that coffee is chargeable and only cocktails are free. I have never heard such nonsense.A poor experience.

My suggestion to the hotel is that they should set right this. If they are offering something complimentary as a part of the package they should go the full distance and offer the service in a graceful way ( by properly training the lounge servers) without making the guest uneasy..Otherwise DONT' OFFER IT AT ALL.In this aspect I think Courtyard Marriott is way ahead with their services in "Complimentary Executive Lounge Access".

We will be back again.Recommend to those who want Luxury but are also cost conscious and look for VFM.

This was our third stay at this gem of a hotel. The staff are warm, welcoming and attentive. The facilities are excellent, with well-appointed rooms (luxurious shower, comfortable bed and work space) and wonderful restaurants (the breakfasts are amazing!). The rooftop pool is a fantastic place to swim and relax during the day, and then the space converts to a romantic candlelit restaurant once the sun goes down. The hotel feels spacious and peaceful. The St. Mary’s Road location is easy to find but somewhat tucked away from the noise of Chennai’s traffic. It is a great base from which to explore the city. We’d like to give special mention to two staff members, Dhamu and Susmita, who took very good care of us during our stay. And our thanks to the whole Raintree team!

Service was beyond excellence! I had booked my room in the wrong location. When I arrived there, the staff made a switch promptly at no extra cost and actually provided a hotel limousine with a chauffeur to take me to the new location. I felt like a VIP. My stay was excellent as usual. The room was comfortable, the laundry service was excellent and the breakfast buffet was sumptuous. Great location - Access was easier compared to the first one. I was able to attend my family event close by and also go for a walk on Marina beach. The rooftop restaurant is great for quiet dinner or for entertaining guests. I grew up in Chennai and now live in the US. Raintree has become my home away from home.

Me and my wife had a rooftop dinner at rain tree hotel today. We started with chicken soup which was excellent. The floor staff there, susmita and Damodaran assisted in picking the best of the dishes. We tried our hands on the sea food fest going on. They prepared kababs, grills,BBQ with the fish we selected and finally provided naan and curry to finish it off. The desert ( chocolate world) was excellent.
Its a must try here at the rooftop at rain tree.
Excellent service, superb ambience and overall delicious and lip smacking dishes to sign off the day.

RainTree are the best in business. Provides excellent service and utmost care for the guest.
Top class ambience and location
Staffs are really impressive with their attitude and takes immediate action on guest's problems.
Food is comparatively good, but could have been better as I belong to Chennai so I had expected more south Indian flavor. But cant complain much.

OVERALL IT WAS A PLEASURE STAY.

A great hotel close to various tourists attractions in Chennai.

The best bits about this hotel is the food and the staff.
The pool is ok for a quick safe swim if it’s not busy but you might find that the birds like it too so not sure how regular they clean it.

The gym is ok vey small but the instructor Guru is a Pro , amazing and very helpful and attentive indeed.

The dining staff are amazing to name a few.
Ganesh and Vinoth were very professional and attentive to my needs.
The food is very tasty Indeed with lots of varieties to cater for your plate
The free international breakfast is second to none get up early as it can be busy, everything though is always stocked up so you won’t miss out on anything good

The front desk staff was very helpful, kind and professional in all my queries. Ritu and Anamika outstanding customer service and a pleasure to speak to so you know your in good hands if you have any concerns etc..
Ashton very helpful with organising my bags, auto to destinations or Uber from the hotel

The room Maintenance Muness and the staff kept the room so clean and tidy and felt like a new room each day I was here, which was nice to see.

The iron in the room has such a small cable so can be tricky to use. Also the plugs get a bit of getting used to I bought a world travel adapter to used but it’s not ease to stay in the wall safely on a couple of sockets in my room.

My only thing is try and get a good price in advance as it can be very expensive if your staying for a long time here and I was charged a very high rate by the manager knowing what I know now please go through various sites. This was very unfair. So be very careful indeed please!

Also they need to make the website a bit clear as I thought it had a spar etc but it was another hotel chain in Chennai. I thought there was a secret floor I missed where the spar- massage room would be hiding

But apart from that an enjoyable, Pleasant stay all around due to the very welcoming staff here. Which in my mind definitely make this hotel indeed.

The hotels services, rooms and food is of excellent quality and the ambiance is beautiful. There is a good range of options for restaurants and food. The facilities work well and the communication about practical things works perfectly.

Obviously there will be more hotels that provide all these facilities. But there is one big difference that makes this hotel more special as others of their kind. And that is their heart. The staff in the diverse departments is not only friendly but really putting an effort. Not only to service, but to contact the guests. In doing so they go beyond service attititude, it is a heart’s attitude. Where jokes and personal stories and sharing is happening, just like you would do with friends. So even tough it is a big hotel it feels like a small family where you are very much welcomed to be part of this heartfelt ambiance.

For example, we were invited to a free cocktail party on the rooftop where we ended up talking with guests and staff alike, about backgrounds, hobbies, marriage and what not. After sharing all that informally, their was a community feel, not only with the staff but also with other guests as they no longer where strangers to each other.

This kind of communing you cannot put into a Value of money that you pay. for the experience that I had was of a hotel with a heart. Or better: a community in a hotel setting. Thank you 🙏🏽

We used to be regular customers here in December. I think we have stayed there at least four times. But our visit in December 2022 makes us rethink our loyalty. Overall, the quality and value of products and services have gone down recently. I am not saying this is a bad place to stay, but I expect more when I pay $83 per night.

A few examples:

(1) They had written down the last name of my father wrong when they transcribed the written form. Even though I paid for all the rooms, they would not give me a duplicate key. The front desk wanted the guest (my 85 year old father) come down and verify the details to get a duplicate key card. There were no apologies for the problem, and they made it look like I wrote the last name wrong.

(2) Multiple calls over multiple days to get them to refill the coffee and milk pods in the room. Toilet paper was not refilled on one of the days.

(3) The restaurant and room-service menus are uninteresting. For dinner, they have just two vegetarian North Indian curries and no South Indian options.

(4) Their rates are comparable to the Courtyard Marriott. I am sure that the Marriott service is going to be a lot better.

A few good things I want to mention. The Google TV in the rooms give you access to YouTube and Netflix. This hotel is in a relatively tranquil location, and allows easy access to restaurants, concerts, shopping etc.

We stayed five nights (4 at the beginning and one at the end) during a 3 week family trip around South India last winter. The Raintree St Mary's Rd is located in the Alwarpet neighborhood of Chennai. The location was ideal both because of the close proximity to the homes of our relatives, but also the interesting and vibrant character of the area. The hotel has an upscale vibe, with a swanky entrance and lobby, trendy and tasty restaurants, a nice rooftop pool and clean, comfortable, stylish rooms. The service was thoughtful and attentive, although for my taste a little overbearing. Sometimes when you are asked every moment if you require some service, it becomes oppressive and detracts from your relaxation and peace of mind. We were visiting over Christmas, and the hotel's christmas costumes, decorations and music were both ridiculous and dreary. We were hoping to have a break from all the normal Christmas hoopla by being in India. Despite these negatives, our stay at the hotel was excellent and we appreciated the great location, many amenities, good service, and nice rooms. Lastly, the trustworthiness of the staff was apparent to me when I accidentally left several hundred dollars in the room safe when we left the hotel. When I called a day later, the hotel had the cash and kept it for me until our return to Chennai a few weeks later. I was relieved and impressed.
