Le Royal Méridien Chennai garners mixed feedback, with its central location near key transport hubs often lauded by guests. The staff's attentiveness shines for many, although some visitors recount experiences with subpar service.
The hotel ambiance earns appreciation for its grandeur, yet a number of guests suggest that both the rooms and facilities could benefit from a refresh. While some regard the hotel as a good value with commendable cleanliness, others feel that the dated rooms and variable dining quality do not justify the cost.

Detailed Reviews
We came for buffet lunch, the food is good and tastier. Bavani team service is excellent. All staff are wearing mask and gloves, hygiene is followed.we only had vegetarian dishes and all are good, the briyani especially is very good. The live counter option was also great to have custom made pasta/sphagetti.

The stay at Royal Le meridian was outstanding! we would like to thank the team making our new year so special
Few things to call out- Hygiene ( The hotel maintains top standards from the time we enter the lobby and the extra care taken to ensure rooms are sanitized and cleaned when we were out for breakfast everyday) , Special thanks to Paneer Selvam who took care of that for us everyday.
Arun kumar at the reception was so courteous and went the extra mile to explain the different room options , New year specials and also made arrangements for us to see the rooms before we checked in.
Anbu ( Captain ) at the reception made sure that the weather for the day was told to us, Traffic issues across the city and places to visit and eat was explained to us in detail. He also helped us to the room and made sure all arrangements were in place and we were comfortable.
Ramar at the restaurant made the new year arrangements for us, Attention to every detail is a special mention and it was not just for us but noticed the same with every guest he was attending to at the restaurant. Kudos to his hospitality
Vivek who was assigned to our table few times during breakfast and on 31st night was just the person to pamper the guestsHe is so polite and so full of energy.
We missed to mention so many others from the security to other staff who were equally courtious. You guys are the best
Thanks for making our stay special

The service of this hotel is in deplorable condition . Had requested for a ice bucket and dining menu in the room since 9:00 pm and after 8 calls and 2 visits down to the receipt ion nothing was made available till 10:30 pm .
It is surprising that a Marriott property has such bad service standards and the Marriott group does nothing to rectify it and leaves it to local staff to run the place at there own whims and fancies
Repeated calls to duty manager remained unanswered .
Best to be avoided in future and look for better managed groups like Taj and Raddison where they know what hospitality is

We really had a very unpleasant stay, though a very short one this month. I tried to book the room directly on 19/1 - 14.29, 20/1 - 14:27 and on 21/1 - 10:36. On 19'th I had talked to a gentle man who confirmed the reservation and said he will send me an e mail which never came. He had taken my mobile number and email address. The latter requests were attended by two different ladies, who simply did not want to know about the details or to confirm whether the reservation has been done. One of the ladies told me if at all a reservation is made it will be cancelled for want of clarity!!!! They wanted me to go through the hotel e mail to get the reservation done. But unfortunately, this email though sent by me was never acknowledged. Hence, I had to do the reservation through Make My Trip which was confirmed. I wanted one room for three adults for one night. But on make my trip it was only for stay.
After checking in I had asked for extra towels and bed, which was refused by the person sitting at the reservation saying that they do not provide any facilities for agency bookings, even after telling him that the money has been paid for this. Hence, we had to use a single common bed for the night for the three of us.
The AC could not be adjusted, it went to the maximum temperature at any settings. We had to switch off the AC for the larger part of the night.
The bathtub was very slippery, we had to carefully stand on the mat provided to avoid falling inside the tub.
The reading lamp head has come out of the stem, and wires are exposed, making it dangerous to use.
The carpet has remains of the snacks of the previous boarder and small stone pieces, which hurt the feet.
The summary is that I had to pay a good amount without any discounts for a very unpleasant stay. Though the hotel is said to be managed by Marriot, it does not at present have the quality of service or comfort a Marriot hotel offers.

I had been in sept and October 2020 for a stay of 3 days each. The hotel is very clean and safe even during this Covid pandamic situation. Extradinary caution and staff are fully trained. Food items are good tasty and the cilantro restaurant is well maintained and staff there is well aware of the current situation. Especially team like Saravanan, Bhavani, Sejin and chef Mr Vinod are really care the guest and front office Duty Manager was very very cautious and all these people made me very hotel is very safe.

There were mixed reviews prior to visiting this property, and all i have to say is they were wrong. From travel delays to changing our arrival the staff helped from before we even left the US. Upon arrival at 1am Into MAA, the driver was waiting to pick us up. Upon arrival to the hotel, we were upgraded to a suite on the royal club level. They gave us the option to either have breakfast in the lounge or at cilantro. Everyday the staff was amazing from the dining services to guest services. It was always a 5 star experience. The room was nicely appointed with 2 large flat screen TVs, sitting couch, desk, a king bed and a bathroom almost as big as the suite itself. The food quality was amazing with choice of American, Asian, and north and South Indian foods. The rooms were well kept and clean and strong AC if you needed it. I would definitely recommend anyone coming to Chennai to stay at the property. You will not be disappointed.

Ok hotel but low quality in some areas....
Let my start my review by saying that I have not been blogging for the last three or four years due to the pandemic and this being my first business trip back to India, I was expecting any hotel that had three years of low attendance would have cleaned up all of the maintenance type issues that one might see when there's downtime versus when there's a packed house. Maybe that's not the case for all hotels but for this one I would have thought I would have shown up to seen no issues.
What I liked:
The main restaurant had a very nice breakfast buffet that I never had a problem with choices. The pool area was fairly nice, although I didn't use it. It was nice to look at out the window. The spa was also nice, although they could use some paint on the walls. The massage was great itself.
What I did not like: As a platinum elite bonvoy member, I have a certain expectation for the club level and the club lounge and I would say both fell flat on this visit. The club lounge was a joke and barely saw anyone in there because what they offered for food, snacks and drinks was so little compared to the other restaurants in the hotel. It also did not really feel like a lounge where someone could be comfortable. It was more set up like a dining room where there was five or six tables with four chairs. Once those were filled up with one single person you essentially had nowhere else to sit unless you wanted to cuddle up to someone you didn't know.
The other thing that disappointed me was in the room as the bathroom was completely falling apart and rusting off of the hinges. There was mold everywhere. The bed was hard as a rock and the linens very minimal. The TV remote made no sense as it had two buttons for adjusting the channels and two buttons for adjusting the volume but none of them worked. I had to have maintenance come teach me how to use it which was ridiculous as you had to go through 100 different steps to get to a virtual menu to then change the channel. To then change the volume you had to use a different remote of which was not in the room. When I checked in. The maintenance guy had to go get one. This is ridiculous for a Bonvoy hotel to have this type of silly setup. Lastly, the room lacked one business essential that all hotel rooms should have in this day and age and that was a safe. Unbelievable. There was no way to lock up any belongings.
I think I'll choose a different hotel upon my return to Chennai. Last time I stayed at the Westin and had no issues like this.
