Reached Chennai airport around 10.40 PM on 10.04.16 and within 20 minutes we were in the hotel. So conveniently located on the main road and quite near the Airport. The room was small but self sufficient, neat & clean. Adjacent Ashok Nagar Park was another attraction where people start early morning walking, jogging and enjoy fresh air. Roof top restaurant is very good with varieties of breakfast items. Enjoyed our short stay of 2 days.

This hotel offers luxurious amenities at affordable price compared to other big star hotels. This is also a place to taste authentic south indian food. The staffs were very helping and kind enough to all guests.
Even one of my German friends who came for vacation gave an excellent feedback about his stay.

I was here only for a very short duration.
I must say that what I liked the most was the food. Breakfast was good and so was the lunch and dinner .. I ate all the three times in Hotel only. Has a rooftop restaurant which turns into a bar in the evening. Staff was very polite and helpful.
Rooms were clean, Airconditioning worked, toilets were clean too. Outside view from the hotel was not good. though situated on the main road, some construction works were going on I guess.
Nearby has a few restaurants, Saravana Bhavan is one of those. All in all - it is just touch above average, okay for a short term visit.

We had booked Hotel Gokulam Park through the Yatra portal, for a stay of 4 nights during the end of December 2014, and had opted for their deluxe rooms(at higher price) for our family of 3 members. When we checked in, we were given an extremely small room, which we suspected was a regular room. We demanded to be shown a regular room for us to compare against the deluxe room we were allocated, but was curtly told by the manager there is actually there is no difference between a regular room and a deluxe room. We tried to reason, but the staff was extremely rude and simply refused to see reason. We felt very helpless, having felt cheated and also because we had made the full payment in advance through Yatra. Moreover, all our favourite hotels were full (being a year end) and did not have an option to move out. (Yatra also did not help even after frantic calls and emails).

I am attaching a picture of the room after putting the extra cot - painful for a family to survive for 5 days with practically no space to move around. Note that the booking was for 3 people and the payment made was accordingly.

Having been a regular visitor to Chennai for the last 10 years due to medical reasons at frequent intervals, I have stayed in various guest houses, hotels and hostels, but never a hotel like this. Note that they charged almost like 4-star property on R K Salai where we stayed last time, and facilities were a fraction of that. Few unique observations:
* Front desk people extremely rude and untrained, not very common in hotels like these. During course of our argument, when I pointed out that travelguru website mentions that there is supposed to be a "mini-bar" in the room, he rudely opined: "What is there in mini-bar? You want cold water, I give you cold water. You want cold drinks, I give you cold drinks".
* Changed bed sheets are almost always torn. Usually they seem to put 2 bedsheets on top of the other so that torn parts do not show up. In one of my previous visits to Chennai, I had stayed in a 900 rupees hotel near Chennai central, even there I did not come across torn bedsheets.
* Food is of a mediocre road side dhaba quality - good for only once or twice for their spice content and lack of taste. Thank goodness, there is a Saravana Bhavan next door that kept our digestive process running. The morning buffet is a moderate South Indian spread, but the food is cold if you land up anytime after half an hour from the start of the buffet.
* Curtains are dirty and full of fungus(picture attached)

Overall impression is that this hotel is avoidable if you value your money and do not have a pressing need to stay in this particular locality, there are innumerable hotels in Chennai at lower prices and are more professionally managed.

myself and my husband went to Gokulam park, when i enquired through phone they have said only proof is enough for to check in. but when we visited, during check-in they have asked the address proof of we both and also the landline number of both. we have shown our passport, & I have given a landline number but they were asking my number as well my hubbys. How come a couples will have different resident landline number. We fed up the way they approached, we paid through cleartrip and it gone waste. No refund also. Atleast during prior enquiry, they should have told their rules & regulations, but they have not. Very much bad experience in this hotel.

I made online booking on may 16 th check through yatra after I made booking only they informed to yatra (not to me) rooms are full so they denied check in after I go to the hotel in direct @ 8p.m only but my booking s from 12 p.m but I requested front office staff that I I'll wait if any cancellation allot me a room but he said 1 room is available but u have to make direct payment and get refund from yatra. It's pure cheating from yatra and gokulam park. I already paid full amount to yatra fr gokulam park but they again ask fr 3000 in direct mode
So dear guests be careful with this cheating attitude of this hotel. Pls confirm before making payment in online towards gokulam park chennai alone. But other hotels like gokulam coimbatore r really awesome .very worst nature and rude money stealing attitude only @ gokulam park chennai.Management has to take necessary action towards the issue. How come a customer can pay twice fr 1 room .they ruined my sleep but happily got room at grt grand they treated me like guest . Gokulam park ashok nagar must learn from grt how to treat guest like their partners.

We stayed at this hotel for few days... I will not recommend this location to anyone specially after the customer service by certain people like the overnight manager was really bad. I have requested him to help me call a taxi and he said it's not something he can help with instead gave me the phone number to call them and when I went down to get a taxi I saw him sleeping. The other employees are friendly. Also we had people come and knock our door at very late at night. Security needs to be increased specially when they have bar nights. I will not recommend this hotel to family and friends. I ended up cancelling the rest of the two days I was suppose to stay here and left early to another hotel. Not recommended.

The hotel is located at a prime location with all kinds of business, tourist, food and other needs of the travellers met. However, the cleanliness within the hotel can be improved and pest-control treatment can be given to add more value of their offerings to the customer.
