Room is very spacious, but surprisingly no kettle or coffee pack that you will expect in any hotel these days. No complimentary water. Title too. Had to call room service every time for hot water and regular water. WiFi never worked in the room and no sincere effort made to rectify. Had to bear with no WiFi during entire stay of 7 days. Huge disappointment. Quality of food was excellent and only saving grace.
Visited Chennai two weeks back with my family and stayed at this wonderful Hotel Maris. The rooms were neat and tidy, service was good and the Restaurant was very good too.The food was excellent.Only problem was not adequate parking space.
Went for for a take away for home. The takeaway order was received by two ladies. Wanted to order a simple dinner for almost 4 senior citizens but was talked in ordering much more than what we can eat for dinner. We could see the kitchen area. It was spic and span. Entire area was unbelievably clean. We were waiting at a table for our takeaway to be ready. The aroma of onion rava, masala dosai being supplied to customers was filling the air. The waiters were were courteous. We received our parcel and a waiter opened the door and helped my wife down the three small steps. Enough parking space inside the compound. No valet parking needed. Parking security guided our car out. The food ( Onion Rava, Bajji, Bonda, Idli, and the sunday special Kozhakattai) was excellent so was the accompaniments of chatnis ( three Varieties ) and the sambar. They also have north Indian, Chinese and meals. All pure vegetarian. Don't miss it if you are going around the sabhas ( walking distance from Music Academy, Narada Gana Sabha, Mylapore Fine Arts and Parthasarathy Sabha). This place has now joined the legendary eating place for vegetariab restaurant in Chennai along with Rayar Mess, Woodllands, Annalakshmi etc. The rates are down to earth.…
Been here for over 20 years, they have maintained the authentic food quality throughout. You can be sure of good health after any meal, this can’t be assured by many restaurants in Chennai. Veg meals is a speciality here on banana leaf. Recently they have revisited there menu and rates are very nominal, not greedy as others. Most of the waiters are old timers and you are guaranteed with politeness and service quality.
Had to stay here once due to sudden trip and my usual Welcome Hotel next door wasn't available. Only best part of this hotel is its cheap and food served here in the restaurant is one fo the best vegetarian food in town. Rooms/cleanliness are kind of ok ok- an avg lodge types
We first booked a standard room for two and then upgraded it to Delux for two. The amount we paid was Rs. 3300. We requested a room in the seventh floor from where one could get a nice view of a part of the city. One can enjoy good food as well in the vegetarian restaurant located in the ground floor, close to the reception area. The staff kindly arranged for a rental car (five hours Rs. 1000 and ten hours Rs. 2000) which was very very convenient. The stay was very pleasant.
Hotel Maris in Chennai is a very good hotel in the Central locality with spacious rooms, veg restaurant, WiFi connection and car parking. The staff at the reception are very polite, friendly and helpful. The only problem is with the AC.The AC in the room is controlled in the reception.Everytime we have to disturb the reception staff to increase or decrease the temperature. In the the restaurant no Jain food is available. so people not taking onion and garlic will find it difficult to manage.
We went along with business people for having lunch. Had meals in the afternoon. Normal vegetarian hotel, nominal taste of meals. Serving staff done their work best and neatness is also fine. We enjoyed the afternoon meals in the full banana leaf as in olden, golden pattern, nice.
There is a restaurant within this hotel which is best value for money and also has a authentic old madras genuine south indian food taste. Either it is a dosa varirties or meals or a filter coffee, please visit once and you will start coming here very often.
Had Lunch at Maris, Radhakrishnan Salai Chennai after nearly five years. The Lunch served in green Plantin leaf (Ela Saapadu) was very homely . The curries like Avial, Potatoes podimas, Pachhadi etc were very well prepared and tasty. Had a feel of home food served on festival Days. The cost of Lunch an amazing Rs 140 inclusive of GST. Really Good return for money.
