MeghNiwas is a beautiful home (built 1940) run efficiently by Colonel and Mrs Singh who live on the property. With large gardens, lawns, trees, flowers and a pool it is a quiet oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of Jaipur. There are 20 clean, simple but elegant, rooms. Fresh home-made delicious food from our organic farm is available in the dining hall. It feels like a home with a gracious host, and has all the facilities you would expect of a hotel (wifi, AC, hot water, laundry, etc)

Detailed Reviews
This hotel is like a jewel in the crown, it is simply beautiful! The welcome we received from Mrs Singh and her staff was warm and friendly, and throughout our stay we felt truly looked after.
The hotel and surrounding gardens/pool are clean and beautifully maintained, with flowers and plants everywhere. We ate breakfast in the garden surrounded by birds and wildlife, including the family dog who we wanted to take home with us! There was even a local peacock who sits on a nearby roof and calls out each morning, which is a lovely way to start the day! When you are here, you feel as if you are in the countryside, it is so very peaceful - even though you are in the heart of Jaipur.
The rooms are all individually styled, and ours was fit for a king! We had a huge, elegant double room, adorned with wood furniture and and and enormous, comfortable bed. Everything was spotless, including the wet room style bathroom. When we arrived, Mrs Singh allowed my Mum to choose her room as she had two options - a larger room on a different floor, or a smaller one opposite mine, which Mum chose. This was very thoughtful and we appreciated the flexibility.
The evening meal (if you choose to have it) was delicious home cooked food, served buffet style so you could have as much as you wanted for a set price. Breakfast was delicious - a mixture of Indian and Western style foods, with fresh eggs cooked to order.
My sister was staying in a different hotel in the city and came to visit one morning, and she was so jealous of our hotel! She loved it and wished she had chosen this place for her stay.
If you want a truly Indian experience, with amazing staff, food, ambiance and surroundings then this is the place to be. If I ever return to Jaipur, I will stay here again without any hesitation! Thank you so much to Mrs Singh and her staff for an amazing experience.

Meghniwas was a wonderful experience for our family trip to India. Mrs Singh is a gracious host, as are all of the staff, including the four-legged Mira. The grounds are beautiful, with cascading blooms and beautiful potted plants decorating the courtyard, which has so many nice spots for sitting in sun or shade, alone or in a group. We stayed in three rooms including one suite, and they were near each other as per our request. Each room has its own quality and a feeling of living in an elegant and stately home. Rooms were beautifully decorated, and cozy and warm in India’s winter season, even surrounded by marble floors and finishings. The dinner we had was amazing, ingredients sourced organically and you can taste it. Breakfast buffets were also good. All in all we will always remember fondly our time at Meghniwas and how we were treated so well, allowing a peaceful oasis after exploring a busy, exhilarating and beautifully vibrant city.

Our stay at Hotel Meghniwas for 4 nights, in a deluxe double room, has been an absolute pleasure. The hotel, established in what was originally the families private residence, provided us with a very large and comfortable suite (including a bath and a super king bed); delicious food in a very tastefully decorated restaurant; and a quiet garden area to have a light lunch around the pool.
Proprietress Mrs Singh has been a charming and helpful hostess, and the restaurant staff led by Sultan have been attentive and friendly. As to the food, the hardest part has been to exercise some restraint at the buffet, as every dish presented has been of excellent quality and delicious. Should we return to Jaipur, we would definitely not go elsewhere.

I was part of a textiles group and we stayed just over a week in this lovely homely hotel. The room I had was large and very comfortable. The shower was excellent with very hot water supplied by solar panels.
The gardens are kept immaculate and it was wonderful to be able to have a swim at the end of the day.
Mrs Singh and her staff were always available and very friendly. I loved the food and was pleasantly surprised when I was presented with a large cake for my birthday.
I will definitely stay there if I visit Jaipur again.

We couldn’t have asked for a better hotel to stay at during our time in Jaipur. As a family of four traveling around Rajasthan, we were treated very well by the host and the staff, all of whom helped us search for tour guides, book train tickets, coordinante taxi services, and find good places to eat and/or shop. The rooms and common spaces were very spacious, calm, and nicely decorated. The hotel itself is also a nice tranquil space outside the roaring, buzzing streets of Jaipur, but still close to the main attractions. The breakfasts are also REALLY good.

Meghniwas Hotel is a wonderful, peaceful haven away from the hustle, bustle, dust and noise that is central Jaipur. Mrs Singh and the Major share their beautiful home with we travellers and make us feel like part of the family. Wonderful, delicious food prepared by a chef who cares...comes out to speak to you at dinner to see what you liked and would tell you how to cook it if you wanted. The gardens....surrounded by beautiful flowers, birds in the trees, are a delight. There are peacocks strolling around...and a swimming pool if you need to cool from the hot sun. On the doorstep of Jaipur, this hotel is perfect for being right there, yet spared from all the honking traffic horns, crowds of people and noisy, busy city life that is central Jaipur.

This hotel is different from the rest as it’s a historic property. The gardens are a lovely retreat from the Jaipur hustle and bustle. The staff are friendly and helpful. I stayed as part of a group of 10. We all had individual Rooms all of which were different in terms of layout. The staff were helpful and friendly and we dined at the hotel 4 or 5 times during a 10 day period and the food was always home made and delicious.

The family run hotel that my parents used for years has changed management is
completely different. The owner has immigrated to the US and while an old couple is lives on the premises, they are seldom around. We were shown a room that looked dusty and unkempt. Under the guise of COVID precautions the hotel was serving no food except an unappetizing vegetarian thali ridiculously priced at Rupees 1200. We ordered this and had to return it uneaten (but were still charged). We were woken up in the middle of the night by loud noises...the manager had occupied the room down the hall and had a card game..we could smell liquor, cigarette and pot. Terrible experience, to be avoided. Not safe for women and couples.

This Hotel gave us a warm welcome right from the start and it continued right through to the last day. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean.
It felt like home from home and all the staff were very helpful, the food was excellent and we even had the chance to see how it was prepared and cooked.
The garden with the pool was particularly tranquil.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

A lovely comfortable hotel with elegant Raj style and beautiful garden and pool in a suburb of Jaipur. I visited for a week with a group on a textile tour of Rajasthan and a warm welcome was provided by Mrs Singh in person and her staff were charming and very helpful throughout our stay. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and the staff were happy to deliver our meals to the tables on the patio while we enjoyed the sunshine. Highly recommended.

yes. it is. But some people use it.
Jaipur to Ranthambore distance is 180kms
1 you could go by train
2 you could hire a car
both will take about four hrs. The car will charge you fro a round trip
I would imagine that each room does not have a balcony and yes they serve alcohol ( basic, it's not a cocktail bar) even by the pool . I am sure they would have no objection to having your own by the pool . Each room has a fridge. This is a great place and you will be well looked after.
Not sure really - we went first to Pushkar (well worth a trip) then to Ranthambore for the tiger reserve, on to Baratphur & then to Agra. Nandu left us in Agra to return to Jaipur & we went to Delhi by train. The cost for 6 days was 20000rupees plus a tip. He mostly paid his own expenses but we paid for a couple of meals. He was worth the expense. Regards Jann
