Jaipur, 'The Pink City', was the vision and triumph of Maharaja Jai Singh II, warrior, astronomer, and politician. Built in 1727, it has at its center the City Palace from which radiate the oleander pink buildings, domes, and minarets. Within these magnificent environs, where wilderness is juxtaposed with art, The Oberoi Rajvilas glitters as a jewel in its setting. Its architectural style, its cool, regal interiors, and its 32 acres of formal gardens echo the colors and majesty of Jaipur. Deluxe rooms, sunken marble baths, air-conditioned tents with lavish bathrooms, romantic villas with private pools, and dining pavilions offer an opportunity to live a lifestyle of opulence enjoyed by the Rajput princes. You will be greeted as a visiting maharaja and treated accordingly. The hotel is equipped with Electric Vehicle Charging Stations as well.

We chose the Oberoi RajVilas as our first short vacation post Covid to give a break to the family. We were a party of 4 with me, my wife and my two kids age 12 & 9. We reached the property and were promptly greeted by Mr. Ankush Mahajan, the General Manager of the property and he surprised us by upgrading us to a suite with a private pool (not a small plunge pool but a decent sized one). This was the icing on the cake as we were skeptical of using public pools during these days. We entered our room and it took our breath away. The sheer opulence of the room and the attention to detail was quite amazing.

There were personalized desserts with my kids names, pillows with their names embroidered kept in the room for their welcome. There were also personalized notes left to make us feel even more welcome. I do not think that the hotel could have done more to pamper us.

The staff was super attentive to any housekeeping needs and the level of service during meals was amazing. The food itself was beyond excellent and we sampled different cuisines for each meal. The staff on site for activities (kite flying, golf etc.) was most helpful and we did not feel stressed letting the kids roam on the property on their own. Suffice to say, this trip exceeded all our expectations of luxury and has left us craving for more.

The icing on the cake even now was the gift given to us by Mr. Ankush Mahajan of sketches of the famous monuments of Jaipur. The entire experience screamed thoughtfulness and my appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Ankush Mahajan and his team for this wonderful experience.

We stayed for three nights in mid-December and were bowled over by the design, grounds, staff and attention to detail. Rooms are tasteful and spacious and have sunked marble bathtubs as well as print bathrobes. But what makes the stay at the Oberoi is the warmth and hospitality of the staff. Every staff member, from the chefs to housekeeping to yoga instructor and concierge, was unbelievably thoughtful and gracious to us, truly anticipating our requests.

Food is the best we ate in India in both the 'Indian' and 'international' restaurants, and don't skip the spa-- I had one of the best facials of my life there! Oberoi is pricey but well worth it for the experience.

Yes, it's true - the service here is spectacular. The staff would lay down (literally) what they're holding and deliver the "Namaste" greeting. There's always a smile and the staff seem very happy to service guests.

One day, I stayed long at the morning gym and asked my husband to pick me up some breakfast to bring back to the room as I would miss the breakfast included with our stay. The F&B staff were kind enough to bring me breakfast to my room, with anything I wanted. They even bought in a toaster in my room, to ensure the toast is fresh.

The breakfast is okay. Not much to highlight from the buffet counter. However, the indian scrambled egg is a specialty and delicious.

On our last night, we had dinner at the restaurant and it was the best indian food we had all week. We each simply ordered a curry dish, but it includes sides and naan, that we were happily full at the end. The prices are reasonable, especially for a hotel restaurant. We paid $100 for two entrees with plenty of sides, naan, water, and drinks each.

We have all lived in extreme anxiety since the beginning of the covid lockdown. Office, school, markets etc have become a distant thought.. So when it came to our summer break, we couldn't trust anyone to plan a safe enough space for us to relax.. Till we came across the Raj Vilas Jaipur, one of the most stunning Oberoi properties.
The booking as well as the check in was all done seamlessly online.. Thanks to the limited traffic, the drive time was also minimal..
The entire management and staff, go out of the way to ensure that there is no direct contact between people and minimal with high touch objects like pens and menus .. The staff is all dressed impeccably with added masks and face shields, and gloves.
The rooms, are sanitized and the staff pays extra attention to providing you with any possible thing one may require to keep you comfortable within your rooms if you so choose ..
The restaurant has blocked out some tables so that a healthy amount of social distancing is possible even if you chose to eat there... They make as much of an effort if you decide to dine in your room instead as well ..
The 3 key aspects that made our stay there safe and enjoyable were,
1. the property itself which is beautifully landscaped and spread over 30 acres, stunning peacocks who have made this their home, and many other gorgeous birds which remind you how beautiful nature is
2. The food, which is unmatched.. The care of its preparations and serving, and the flavors which are a delight to the pallette irrespective of cusine
3. The phenomenal staff, which is going above and beyond the call to ensure that the hospitality remains 5 star but the safety is never compromised..
Would recommend going beginning /mid week if you want to avoid the weekend crowd..
Ankush Mahajan and his team all deserve a special mention for making our stay in these challenging times an absolute joy..

My wife and I visited Rajasthan on a guided tour staying at three of the Oberoi Hotels in the region. We especially enjoyed our stay at Jaipur because of the rural feel of the grounds, the 80 wandering peacocks and the wonderful bird calls of many other species, in the early morning hours. It was a sanctuary for nature as well as humans. Though sitting outside, you have little time to scarper inside so you are not blanketed by the 'safe' insecticide that covers the property on your early morning sojourn. Nevertheless, there were no mosquitoes anywhere on the property when we visited, so it is a worthwhile exercise. Our tour left no time for swimming in the luxurious pool or visiting the spa, but we did enjoy a sumptuous breakfast. A puppeteer was selling puppets at the poolside on one of the evenings we were there. Our room was comfortable, the bed firm and the welcome turn down service included a plate of Petit Fours Chocolates, which were very nice. The vista of the sunken marble bath and the stucco walls and the garden outside the bathroom reminded us of the Oberoi Bali. The path from our room to the foyer across a moat was a point of interest with stone monumental guards each side of the entrance. And of course the wandering peacocks trumpeting and showing their plumes were a joy to see, up close, like living in a big zoo. This is one of my favourite hotels on the tour. Staff were warm friendly and helpful. A stay in this hotel is highly recommended.

What an experience! We just spent three nights in a luxury tent here. The staff is unparalleled in courtesy, knowledge and service. Oberoi has perfected the art of luxury hotel stays.

We loved the Indian restaurant (try the prix fixe menu and the Indian wine). The all day dining restaurant was also excellent. There was a beautiful breakfast buffet as well as made to order items from a menu. The outdoor area is beautiful at night for dinner. It was a bit chilly while we were there and both restaurants were well supplied with braziers and gas heaters to take the edge off.

The tents are extremely private, with surrounding walls and several outdoor spaces. The windows surround the bedroom area. We could sit and watch the peacocks strut past the window following an afternoon nap. After sightseeing one day, we returned to our room to find the free-standing tub full of hot water and rose petals. Nice!

The bar area is cozy and clubby with an exceptional group of cocktail table books on various subjects of Jaipur and India. Bar snacks are good and they also offer some snacks to order.

Its a beautiful property with a small temple in the center. There is plenty of room to stroll around with the peacocks, parrots and other birds wandering the grounds.

We stayed at five Oberoi properties during our trip to India, as well as two other hotels. On our return trip, hopefully soon!, we will stay at this hotel chain at every opportunity.

After recovering from COVID, this was our first outing & the entire experience left me in awe of the place & the staff.

From the time you enter the property, you are made to feel like a king. The front desk staff was extremely courteous & helped us to our room in a matter of minutes. The icing on the cake was the upgrade to a premier tent, which was thoroughly enjoyed by my daughter.

The room was spacious & well furnished. Housekeeping staff did an exceptional job during our stay & they were happy to clean up the mess created by our one & a half year old daughter. In fact , the personal gifts (embroidered pillow, flowers) the staff got for our daughter were very touching.

We spent Christmas at the hotel & the high tea arranged on that day was an amazing experience.

Food was exceptional & the chef was happy to prepare special items for our your young daughter. Doing away with the buffet breakfast was a good initiative to prevent the spread of covid.

COVID precautions being taken by the hotel were immaculate. Entire staff was wearing the required PPE & rooms were topped up with personal hand sanitizers on a daily basis.

Overall, we had a great experience & we would like to thank Mr Ankush Mahajan (GM) & his dedicated team for providing us with this royal experience. Dubra, Ishant deserve a special mention for helping us with the room.

Rajvillas is an exceptional property. We visited it for 3 days in the middle of a trip through Northern India in late December. Having started our trip at The Oberoi, New Delhi our expectations were very high but Rajvillas and its staff exceeded them all. Although not a historic palace as some other hotels in Jaipur are it is has the feel of what a Maharaja would have built if they were building their palace today. The main hotel building is, as with all other Oberoi properties we visited, approached by beautiful grounds. Accommodation is then spread out in grounds behind this main building in small villas or in tents. We opted for rooms in the villas. All the rooms are very spacious and beautifully appointed. The grounds themselves are superb and in addition to the swimming pool and the spa you can take a horse ride if you feel in the mood.

Once again the best aspect of this property isn't the bricks and mortar, spectacular as that is, but the people. We were met on arrival by the GM who knew of our unique dietary requirements (we are strictly kosher) and made us super welcome. The chef and his team were phenomenal in catering to our requirements and producing exceptional food. At our request the chef communicated our requirements to our next stay at Udaivillas, ensuring a seamless transition from one exceptional Oberoi property to the next. Beyond the F&B every single member of staff was just superb and literally couldn't do enough to ensure a fantastic stay for our entire family.

The only word of caution relates to a factor the hotel can't control and that is the large number of birds in the grounds and their tendency to chirp into song in unison. This is not incessant but if you want peace and quiet at all times then I'd suggest discussing the location of your room in advance with the hotel.

I really can't say thank you enough to the general manager and his team for making our stay in Udaipur so special. Our stay here suggested to me that Oberoi is the best hotel brand in the world and this was cemented by our trip to Udiapur (see my review of Udaivillas.

Thank you team Oberoi for being the most fantastic hosts and we hope to see you again soon.

OBEROI RAJVILLAS
November 2019

As alway this hotel never fails to impress, located about 35 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Jaipur's city center, it's an oasis of tranquility and beauty. The rooms are dotted around the sprawling property, the gardens are perfectly manicured and on every corner you are likely to meet a Peacock strutting its stuff.
The service is quintessentially Oberoi, the staff are attentive, professional and charming.
I highly recommend this oasis

We stayed at Oberoi Rajvillas in Nov 2020. Given this was during the COVID pandemic, we were very satisfied with the measures the staff had taken to ensure safety for all their guests. I recall an instance when I asked one of the staff members to click a pic using our phone and he first sanitized his hands before taking the phone (shows how thorough they were).

There were several small gestures that made our stay super special. The moment we entered our room, there were two plates of treats (fruits, cookies, and chocolates) with our kids' names written on them! The entire property is absolutely gorgeous ... adding to the overall feel are the 50+ peacocks across the property that our kids absolutely loved. The service, the food, the ambiance ... everything was absolutely top-notch! My elder son (8yrs) recalls their wonderful deserts to date :)

We would love to come and stay here again.

Is there a shuttle service into the Pink City?
Answer from 809saibalc
Kolkata (Calcutta), India53 contributions5 helpful votes
No, I am not aware of any shuttle service to the Pink City. However getting a conveyance is never a problem. You can hire a hotel car, or get a car and driver from a local car hire company. Taxis and rickshaws aare also available. Shuttle services do not exist in Jaipur. At least we have never heard of one, unless any particular hotel has any special shuttle service available, which we are not aware of.

Please go to Oberois only. There is no comparison. Ram bagh taj looks a little outdated and has an old type feel. The staff at Oberois is excellent and you will fall in love with the property along with the peacocks.
