Today's Pratap Bhawan stands on Himanshu Rathore's ancestral land and is located in Jaipur's enviable and poshest colony. Himanshu belongs to an erstwhile jageer called Nimaj and his father served in the army. He has years of experience as a naturalist and even today is affiliated closely with biggest wildlife centers like Bandhavgarh. His passion for the wild and wildlife photography is proudly presented on the walls of the homestead. While Himanshu hails from Marwar his gracious wife, Deepti belongs to Mewar. His keen interest in meeting new people and socializing were the driving force behind him starting the venture in 2010. Pratap Bhawan was built in 1980 and therefore has a fine blend of modern but traditional styles. Credit to this is duly given to Himanshu's wife, Deepti. Not only does she have a natural sense of hospitality as her family owns a Palace hotel but she is a professional interior designer to boot. Her class and taste are evident throughout the home's effortless elegance. All the 4 bedrooms of Pratap Bhawan are soothing in colors but with a burst of richness, which make them charming and very true to Rajasthani culture. All bedrooms come with large and impeccable en suite bathrooms, beds equipped with luxury spring matresses and they are air conditioned. The family's personal temple is for private use only but guests can come and view it while giving it utmost respect. The lush garden boasts of a vibrant and cozy breakfast nook. A big open terrace with its swing invites people to open up a book before enjoying dinner.Other than sightseeing across Jaipur, guests can enjoy an experience exclusive to Pratap Bhawan. As Himanshu works avidly as a freelance tour leader he is takes people on specialized and unique wildlife and photography tours. He worked for three years with a renowned wildlife safari company and as a naturalist. This ensures that tours conducted by Himanshu for his own guests are of an incomparable standard. Other than this Himanshu is also a passionate cook and would be open to providing guests with cooking lessons on Rajasthani cuisine. On special request, he can also conduct bird walks around Jaipur, arrange for ayurvedic massages and even yoga sessions at home. Deepti is also a masterful Rangoli maker and guests can learn how to create those colorful designs from her.

On a friends recommendation we decided to stay at Pratap Bhawan during our recent visit to Jaipur. We are frequent visitors there and this is one decision we do not regret.

The owner Mr Himanshu is a renowned wild life photographer. He and his wife are a charming couple and gracious hosts. The rooms are very comfortable, neat and well laid out with all modern furnishings, amenities and a sumptuous breakfast thrown in for good measure.

Pratap Bhawan is right on.

Col Ranjit Singh, Retd.

but I am grateful to have landed at Himanshu & Deepti's wonderful home stay. I became incredibly sick on the flight traveling from Karnataka to Jaipur and thankfully had pre-arranged a driver with Himanshu to pick me up at the airport. When I arrived at the homestay, Himanshu's employees literally carried me up the stairs to my room where Himanshu took one look at me and offered to call a physician to come ASAP. I couldn't have been treated better. The Doctor made 4 consecutive visits to see me where he administered medicines, provided lab results and carried through on my diagnosis. Himanshu and Deepti were so incredibly attentive checking on me several times a day and providing me with liquids and delicious home-cooked food. And I couldn't have designed a better room to heal in--super clean, comfortable bed and beautiful furnishings, a strong AC, beautiful wildlife photographs (taken by Himanshu), nice sunlight, quiet, cable TV (only time in India I watched English movies), and a phone where I could call for food or beverages to be brought up. It was unfortunate to get so ill during my travels in India, but the Gods provided me a wonderful place, surrounded by kind people who cared for me like family and helped me recover. God willing, I would love to visit again on my next trip to India. Agalee baar thak (until next time)...._/\_

The place was so warm and comfortable that was perfectly comfortable and appropriate for us to stay in for two days. The staff was extremely courteous and the place had a very positive vibe in general. It’s pretty close to the Railway Station, so, travel is convenient. Also, the breakfast they served was delicious and filling.

Himanshu and his wife hosted us for a cooking demo and dinner. Food was fab and learnt a new dish and method for smoking chicken.

Also, blown away by Himanshu's wildlife photos. Perhaps one day we will ask him to guide us for Tigers.

Cannot recommend highly enough.

My colleges and I were on a culinary exploration of north indian cuisine and had the oppourtunity to meet with Himanshu the owner of Pratap Bhavan, who created and demonstrated a wonderful menu of authentic Rajasthani cuisine. The food was simple, yet flavourful and wonderfully executed.

We were a group of 6 friends attending the Jaipur Literature festival and rented the entire top floor , 3 double rooms with a lounge and dining area and a lovely sunny terrace. Having stayed in homestays earlier, I can tell you this place is run super professionally, each room decorated with beautiful Jaipur Linens and curtains. Himanshu and Dipti the owners are warm and friendly hosts who personally coordinated our entire stay from delicious Rajasthani home cooked meals , local tips on shopping for jewellery, fabrics and spicess, to safe & punctual taxi service.
Do request for the freshly squeezed orange juice if in season and the Rajasthani Thali meal.
Highly recommend Pratap Bhawan if you are looking for great value, true Indian hopitality and personalised services.

My friends and family booked three rooms in Pratap Bhavan Jaipur and couldnt have picked a finer location and product for our visit of the Pink City. This beautiful villa is located conveniently close to to the railway station and is probably one of the best maintained vacation rental units ive stayed in. The gracious hospitality of the owners and their staff was overwhelming. i cannot say we were the easiest of guests, seeing that we all had our own schedules and woke up at various times and have varying preferences in terms of food and stay- but Himanshu Rathore, his lovely wife Dipti and their super efficient cook and housekeeper, Prakash and Prem catered to our needs effortlessly. I highly recommend that you have at least one meal at this lovely haveli, especially the rajathani thali that Himanshu s team gladly cooked especially for us during our stay. The recipes are well kept secrets but the family is happy and generous enough to share them if you request. The rooms are very well appointed and well maintained. Quality of bathroom fittings i superior, the interiors are simple but elegant, and there is an intercom facility avaialble if you d like to order food and beverages outside of regular meal times. Dipti and Himanshu, both spent a considerable amount of time with us as their guests, and were marvellous with their guidance on where to eat, shop and hang out. Himanshu is a wildlife enthusiast and photographer par excellance. We were more than comfortable at this stunning property and were treated like royalty by our hosts, Himanshu and Dipti Rathore.Highly recommend you stay there when in Jaipur. The room rates are moderate and affordable, the property is beautiful and the facilities are better than staying at a star hotel. Will definitely head back there when we visit again.

Crossing Jaipur while on our way to Nepal on our Royal Enfield motorcycle, me and my wife needed to stay in Jaipur overnight. That's when Pratap Bhawan was suggested to us by a friend. I have been to Jaipur many a times and stayed in many different properties and I can say with full confidence that Pratap Bhawan is arguably the best B & B place in Jaipur. Located right in the heart of the city it makes it very easy to go to any place in Jaipur from here. Ever smiling Himanshu and Preeti were the best host we could have found. We were lucky enough to taste one of the best home cooked Masala Chicken ever, cooked by the celebrity chef Himanshu himself. My wife still drools when ever she thinks of the chicken...so guys pester Himanshu to prepare one for you..;) this place provides you with the luxary of a 5 star and feeling of being right at home. We highly recommend Pratap Bhawan to any one going to Jaipur.

Our sojourn, which was combined with a Geological Conferece in Jaipur and for sightseeing, was immensely enriched by our stay at Pratap Bhawan. Any wish was fullfilled with complete friendlyness, even the breakfast muesly for my wife. And when I had a photo-memory-stick problem, I had Mr Hammanshu, an expert photographer to help me. The optional dinners we had were the best of our entire two weeks excursions in Rajastan. Shops for textiles and hand craft articles are in walking distance or with a short tuck-tuck ride. And the Old City is reached in 10 to 15 minuites inexpensively by tuck tuck as well. We shall always have pleasant memories of Jaipur mainly because of our stay at Pratap Bhawan Homestay.
