Today's Pratap Bhawan stands on Himanshu Rathore's ancestral land and is located in Jaipur's enviable and poshest colony. Himanshu belongs to an erstwhile jageer called Nimaj and his father served in the army. He has years of experience as a naturalist and even today is affiliated closely with biggest wildlife centers like Bandhavgarh. His passion for the wild and wildlife photography is proudly presented on the walls of the homestead. While Himanshu hails from Marwar his gracious wife, Deepti belongs to Mewar. His keen interest in meeting new people and socializing were the driving force behind him starting the venture in 2010. Pratap Bhawan was built in 1980 and therefore has a fine blend of modern but traditional styles. Credit to this is duly given to Himanshu's wife, Deepti. Not only does she have a natural sense of hospitality as her family owns a Palace hotel but she is a professional interior designer to boot. Her class and taste are evident throughout the home's effortless elegance. All the 4 bedrooms of Pratap Bhawan are soothing in colors but with a burst of richness, which make them charming and very true to Rajasthani culture. All bedrooms come with large and impeccable en suite bathrooms, beds equipped with luxury spring matresses and they are air conditioned. The family's personal temple is for private use only but guests can come and view it while giving it utmost respect. The lush garden boasts of a vibrant and cozy breakfast nook. A big open terrace with its swing invites people to open up a book before enjoying dinner.Other than sightseeing across Jaipur, guests can enjoy an experience exclusive to Pratap Bhawan. As Himanshu works avidly as a freelance tour leader he is takes people on specialized and unique wildlife and photography tours. He worked for three years with a renowned wildlife safari company and as a naturalist. This ensures that tours conducted by Himanshu for his own guests are of an incomparable standard. Other than this Himanshu is also a passionate cook and would be open to providing guests with cooking lessons on Rajasthani cuisine. On special request, he can also conduct bird walks around Jaipur, arrange for ayurvedic massages and even yoga sessions at home. Deepti is also a masterful Rangoli maker and guests can learn how to create those colorful designs from her.

I was fortunate to spend an evening here with my tour group for a cooking demonstration and dinner that was absolutely phenomenal. The hosts were incredibly polite and immediately treated us like family, they even had 3 beautiful dogs that made it feel even more like home. The cooking demonstration was exciting and interesting, and the meals afterwards were so different to what you might find in a restaurant, in the most delicious way possible. If you have the chance to stay at this place longer than I did, I can’t recommend it enough.

I booked Pratap Bhawan for my Sister in law visiting from Nepal and this is what she had to say about Pratap Bhawan. "I along with my son was visiting Jaipur for the first time and wasn't sure what to expect. My Sister in law booked me at Pratap Bhawan and assured that I will be looked after well, sure enough staying at Pratap Bhawan became the highlight of our trip. From pick up to drop, organising my trip to markets and other attractions were all very well taken care of by wonderful couple (Deepti and Himanshu) the homely atmosphere and amazing food made everything even more comfortable. A big thanks to Deepti and Himanshu for such great hospitality and warmth that I can't wait to be back"

We arrived after midnight due to a late train and our transition to our accommodation was easy with Himanshu awaiting our arrival. We stayed in the beautiful cottage room which is incredibly spacious and well fitted out. Plus the bed is so comfortable. Breakfast is delicious each morning and make sure you opt in for a lunch or dinner cooked by Himanshu and Deepti. Ask for the aubergine curry!

We just visited Jaipur and stayed at Pratap Bhawan Homestay for 4 nights. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience at this place. We thank the couple, their dogs and the amiable staff for this, and highly recommend this place for a relaxing, family outing. Himanshu was very proactive and co-operative and made sure that we were comfortable during our time at Jaipur. I would like to highlight some of the things that I liked. 1. We had a little change in plan a few days before and I asked if we could accommodate my dad in the Cottage room. He agreed at a very nominal rate. They picked up my dad from the airport, allowed him for an early Check In and made him comfortable till we reached there in the evening. 2. We were served very nice, homemade fresh dinner of traditional style

Dear Sukanya, Thank you for appreciating us and I have been wanting to reply to your review for a while. As we mentioned earlier also that we outsource our taxi service and it was just a miscommunication on the hearing part and deal was never changed because these taxi vendors in jaipur never include the airport drop in the full day sightseeing and this has been the case since past 10 years since I started the homestay. We are in no way involved hence we never collect payments for taxis and ask all our guests to pay the driver directly. We are always open to connecting the guest directly to the vendor, we only talk to the vendor to make it easy for guest which we did in your case too, and then later we did connect you to the vendor directly too.Our focus is on guest experience not on earning a extra petty amount by cheating anybody.Hope I have made myself clear on this. Regards Himanshu

Himanshu and Deepti have a beautiful home filled with all the amenities you could need. They are excellent company and assisted us in planning every step of our journey in Jaipur. Himanshu's home cooked dinners are amongst the best dishes we've had in India and I cannot overstate how welcome they were after our long days sightseeing. If you're staying in Jaipur, you would be remissed to pass on this fantastic homestay and it's wonderful hosts.

Many thanks to Himanshu and Deepti Rathore, as well as their excellent house staff, for hosting us for 3 nights at their lovely Homestay. The property is beautiful, the rooms are so comfortable, and the location is very convenient (nearby the best shopping and the train station). In addition, our hosts gave us great recommendations and helped us organize a camel safari day trip in Pushkar. Extremely good value - I almost can’t believe how affordable our stay was! I could enjoy Himanshu’s delicious meals for weeks on end, and I will definitely stay here again when I return to Jaipur. I would recommend Pratap Bhawan for travellers and families of all types who wish to experience Rajasthani hospitality and culture. Cheers from Canada!

Pratap Bhawan was our favorite lodging in India. We stayed in big chain and boutique hotels, but this small B &B turned out to be just perfect. Owners Himanshu and Deepti, and popcorn-loving dogs made our stay absolutely delightful. Their staff, especially Pratash, were especially helpful. We stayed for nine nights in a little cottage in the back of the property. The cottage was comfortable, clean and quiet at night. After a full and hot day of seeing the sites and shopping in Jaipur, we looked forward to sitting on the cottage porch drinking tea, reviewing our day, and watching the daily visits of peacocks who lived in the neighborhood. Dinner was always a treat featuring a different cooked vegetable specialty dish each evening. Himanshu is a naturalist; his photos of

Was in Jaipur for a few days and was recommended Himanshu place by a mutual friend. We didn’t stay at the property as unfortunately we only had a day left in our trip but himanshu invited us over for a meal and wow the food was super. Home cooked food always rates top for me. He made us some junglee maas, safed aloo, dal, gatte ke sabzi, and rotis. Simple food full of flavour done to perfection. Wish we had more time to spend there but will sure be making another trip will more people. The property is very homely has four rooms with attached baths and also has a few bigger suite type ones in an adjacent building on the same property. All in all very nice place and more importantly nice ppl. Ps his dogs are the cutest 😊
