We stayed her3 2 nights -- charming boutique hotel in the heart of Jaipur, rooms were very spacious and comfortable, and the owner and the staff was very helpful and attentive. Great breakfast, wifi, easy access to sightseeing.

What a cracking little place of tranquility in the mist of the madness of Jaipur. We had a wonderful stay, the room was beautiful and bed very comfortable, the food was exceptional as well as the staff serving it. Hair the head waiter was humble and professional but with heart warming kindness in his attitude to us as guests. We... More

This is one of the gems in our 31 day trip through India. Massive suite with mezzanine, beautifully prepared and restored. Durga is a superb host and has such attention to detail that rivals the best. All meals were taken in the central courtyard and served by the ever attentive 'Harry' and the rest of the staff who are all... More

Dera Mandawa was our favourite place to stay during our trip to Rajasthan. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. Our room was fabulous, a real taste of haveli living, with traditional features and modern touches. Despite its proximity to a busy main road and close to major sights, as soon as you step through the entrance... More

During our travels we have stayed in many different places. Most of them were nice, some of them really nice and a very few are so special that they would justify travelling 16 hours in a plane just to stay over there again. The Dera Mandawa falls in the latter category. A beautiful old palace, with dreamy spacious rooms and... More

In recent years India has started to have charming old style homes turned into lovely guest houses and small hotels. I was looking for such a place in Jaipur, and our travel agent recommended Dera Mandawa. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The place is managed by the owner, who is the descendent of the original owners, courtiers to... More

This was our third hotel/homestay in India and each has been wonderful in its own way. Dera Mandawa is the smartest we've been to and its welcome after a day of hot travel was truly special. We were ushered to a huge and comfortable room and attended by staff who struck the balance perfectly between friendly and efficient. We ate... More

We stayed at Dera Mandawa for 3 nights before moving on to Udaipur, breaking our journey at Bundi and Bhainsrorgarh on the way (those detours come highly recommended by the way!). DM is a home that has been in the family for 300 years and they still live there. Set close to one of the old gates through which you... More

Dera Mandawa is run on eco-friendly lines. It has palatial rooms with excellent bathroom facilities. We ate in the beautiful courtyard - a real oasis of calm with great food and daily specials. You can even have an Indian cookery lesson. A guaranteed warm welcome and you will love the rooms!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A lesser-known fact about Rajasthani monuments is that rarely were forts, palaces and havelis (large residences) constructed at one go. Each generation added new wings, rooms and arches in an architectural style prevalent during its time. DeraMandawa has also seen such an evolution, as the Mandawa family constantly kept extending the residence over the years. Thakur Durga Singh, the current custodian of DeraMandawa is a keen observer of history, culture, religion, current affairs, and is a bank of knowledge so vast that he has a point of view on anything under the sun. He is what one could call a modern traditionalist, actively seeking the use of modern technology and methods to support the principles of traditional living. The inquisitive can have endless conversations with him on a number of his projects like rain -water harvesting, biogas plant, solar heating and, even, healthy cooking. He would be more than delighted to share his experiences with you. ... more   less
