We visited this place with family- seniors and kids and were disappointed with the service at every stage. First of all as you enter, you find dog poop at the entrance. The host mentions on various sited that the house has a fully functional kitchen, but does not even has gas connection at home. He offers an induction but no utensils to even boil milk for kids and actually expects you to buy it or carry it. There is no parking facility at his residence, there is space but he will ask you to park your vehicle on the road where police tows away cars!!! In the middle of the day water supply gets cut and then you waste time waiting for it to be restored. It mentions and flaunts a jacuzzi which is actually non functional and has dirty water. The showers throw water every where and 2/4 geysers do not work!!! On top of such bad experience, the owner is ill-mannered and misbehaves which is actually mentioned in lots of reviews which I now noticed after a bad experience! Its Definitely a waste experience so do not go for it at all.

For transparency, I never ended up staying here because of the bad mouthed and misbehaved attitude of the owner (Mr. Rathore). I was gifting my parents a long weekend stay in Jaipur and I found Gulmohar Villa on Bookings.com. I received a confirmation email 2 days before the stay but for clarity, I called the owner today to confirm my booking. Mr. Rathore outrightly told me that there are no rooms available and it is not possible to accommodate my “confirmed” booking. He tells me that there must be a glitch on the website because there are no rooms at his property and suggested another property nearby. I was disappointed at the mismanagement because this was a gift to my parents. Nevertheless, I started looking for other options but it struck me that I should get a written confirmation from him that there are no rooms available so I emailed him through. I immediately got a call back from Mr. Rathore trying to inquire about my booking; by then he didn’t know that I’m the same person whom he spoke to literally 5 mins back. Until now, we are talking with good decorum. He called me and confirmed my name and booking and said the rooms are available. I asked him how is it available now when 5 mins back he told me the property was fully booked. NOW comes the fun part- he arrogantly tells me if I want the room or want to “argue” with him over this. Mr Rathore perhaps failed to realize that he is talking to a potential guest. I was taken aback at his inconsistent a d uncivil response. My response was - yes, it requires an argument perhaps because he literally told me that his property is unavailable for those dates. By now, obviously it is not about whether I want to stay or not but about a host’s boorish attitude. He tells me to write to the Prime Minister or the President of India to complain if I have a problem and tells me that he doesn’t give a f*** about people like me and would close the gate on me. He’s done it to a 100 people already (or something like that). So not only did he lie to me the first time when I was making sure my parents booking was confirmed, badmouthed me and displayed uncouthness and barbaric behavior, he also created a false impression of mismanagement at the end of booking.com I would never be a guest to such a rude and impolite host.

My wife and I stayed here for our last night in India before flying home to Bangkok. Firstly, this is a tough review to write because I'm looking at past reviews and everyone - without exception - seemed to love Gulmohar Villa and I'm wondering if I'll come across as a tad harsh. However, honesty has always been my policy when writing reviews. The Gulmohar Villa was adequate but I think the price they charge per night is extremely ambitious. Both my wife and I felt it was only worth around half of that amount considering what you can get in India and Asia in general for the same money. We found the location fairly easily with a GPS. The Gulmohar Villa is located in C-scheme on a middle-class residential street and just a couple of minutes walk from a very nice modern shopping mall with plenty of places to eat (that's certainly a big plus) This is a great location away from the madness and clogged streets of central Jaipur but you can still get there by auto rickshaw in about 15-20 minutes. Finding the street was easy but finding the Gulmohar Villa itself was trickier. There is a sign, but it's not quite outside the property (you need a sign on the gate to be honest) so I hesitantly opened a front gate and then rang a bell and walked into a ground floor hallway. I felt like I was intruding and still wasn't sure I'd got the right place. Eventually the owner shouted down to me from 3-4 floors above and I shouted back at him to ascertain whether we were on the right track. It certainly wasn't quite the 'warm welcome' I've read about in other reviews. Anyway, we got checked in by the gentleman who runs the homestay and he showed us to our room. He was a very pleasant young man (I didn't get his name) but apart from giving us the wifi password, there wasn't an awful lot of communication. He didn't explain the breakfast procedure until much later that day and he made no mention of the rooftop terrace or how we could get up there. We only found it by seeing photos on other reviews and poking around the property ourselves (not something we felt comfortable with) I guess you might say we felt a little 'short-changed' The breakfast the following morning was perfectly adequate and a decent choice of options (selected the night before) I would also have to make mention of the bathroom. When I first saw the plate glass divider sticking out at a 90 degree angle, I remarked to my wife how dangerous that could be. Glass plates, water and slippery floors do not mix. Lo and behold the following morning, my wife slipped on the floor and luckily managed to miss the glass (but did end up with a bruised cheek). The property also uses that hot water system that is common in India, whereby when you take a shower, you get about three minutes of hot water before it goes cold. My wife and I generally don't do 'homestays' and there is a chance our expectations were perhaps too high. But the reviews were fantastic and that's why we booked it. I still think it was expensive for what you got though.

We had a great two night stay in Jaipur at the villa. The room was large, clean and quiet. Whilst being a home stay it felt more like a hotel. The roof terrace was lovely and nice to relax on after a day exploring Jaipur. The host was very nice making us breakfast each morning when we wanted it. Would recommend a stay at the villa!

Discreet Homestay/Boutique hotel On 2nd floor, no lift Extremely clean, well decorated in modern style with a colonial twist. Just 4 rooms with communal lounge/ dining room. The host was very helpful suggesting best way to see city and surrounds (see Moon tour review) Small selection of drinks available in honesty bar. Breakfast cooked to order Jacuzzi on roof well worth a dip, needs a couple of hours notice to fill. cc accepted, also ATMs nearby with usual 10,000 rupee restriction with local 200 charge. More expensive than most but did feel special. Definitely recommend and would stay again.

I couldn't have asked for more! Not only was the host absolutely amazing (super attentive, easy to communicate with, and makes a great breakfast!) but the room was so neat, clean, well decorated, and comfortable. The location was great as well close to some great restaurants. I always felt very safe in this place. Could not recommend it more!! Truly amazing and I am so thankful for this homestay.

Central location and adorable room decoration. When I saw the room I thought I should be wearing some special clothes not to look too weird in it! Room & bathroom are equipped in detail with everything you would need. Breakfast is prepared with care, you could see it. It was delicious and fullfilling. The owner of the villa was very kind and helpful. This is one of my favourite stays so far (obviously the best in India) and definitely deserves the rate.
