Hotel Kumkum is frequently praised for its cleanliness, with guests consistently appreciating the well-maintained rooms and modern bathrooms. Despite the rooms being on the smaller side—a common trait for the area—they remain a highlight for their tidiness. The service at Hotel Kumkum is often lauded for its professionalism and friendliness, with staff members going the extra mile for guests. While the amenities are found to be satisfactory, some visitors have mentioned the limited dining options and the absence of elevators. The hotel's central location is a boon for travelers, offering convenient access to transportation. Although recognized as budget-friendly, a few reviewers have noted that certain services may not offer the best value for their price. The ambiance of the hotel is generally appreciated, though suggestions for updates to room decor and outdoor seating have been made.

Overall, I had a very good stay at Hotel Kumkum in South Mumbai.

The room was clean and neat. Amenities included water, a heater, Wi-Fi, a TV, and a canteen. However, I couldn't watch any Tamil-language programs on TV as only Hindi channels were subscribed.

During check-in, they provided a transparent, paper-based Terms and Conditions document, which is a good practice.

While breakfast was available for an additional charge, the selection was quite limited. The canteen is located on the 3rd floor, and there's no elevator. I was also unsure how to access the complimentary breakfast included in my room booking.

The hotel's main road location made it easy to get Ubers or Rapidos. However, cab drivers waiting in front charged exorbitant prices and weren't helpful with directions.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, greeting guests whenever they saw them. The overall atmosphere was very positive.

The hotel's location is also convenient for commuting around the city. Within a 5km radius, you can reach Nariman Point, the Gateway of India, and CSMT railway station.

Haven't stayed in a cleaner hotel room till date. Especially the bathroom with perfect anti-skid flooring and new look, and hot water facility round the clock just by pressing a switch. The bath towels kept being replaced everyday without the need for any reminder; they were clean and bright too. Absolutely no mosquitoes. AC and fans worked well.

No lift; had to climb stairs. No kettle in the room to prepare hot water for drinking. Normal drinking water was supplied and refilled. Ventilation is limited. Small size of room and bathroom didn't matter for the reasonable budget level of room rate.

Close to several tourist places and important temples. Taxis are available all the time right near the entrance of the hotel which is close to the road. 10 minutes walk from Grant Road station on the Churchgate-Virar local railway line. Local bus stops are close by too. Restaurants are within walking distance (including few pure vegetarian ones like Pejas); the hotel itself has room service of veg and non-veg food (didn't try though).

Overall recommended.

Not sure if it's new or renovated, but it's very clean.

The air conditioning works well.

The restaurant is cheap and delicious.

Room service is also available.

If you drop off your laundry in the morning, it will be returned ironed in the evening, which is convenient. (30 rupees per piece)

The location is also good. Two train stations are just a short walk away.

Sightseeing spots are easily accessible.

The staff are friendly and helpful.

There is no hot water in the shower.

The only amenities provided are bar soap.

No toilet paper.

No refrigerator.

Great stay at Hotel Kumkum in Central Mumbai. Great Location and in the centre of Mumbai so you can get taxis around easily (taxis available straight outside the hotel)

The staff were super friendly and available to offer advice to local markets, getting trains, and going to sightseeing locations. Paresh and Amol, the day managers were great to talk to and give us really good advice on taxi fares across the city.

My wife and I had also just got married in Satara and we were assigned a twin room but on request we were changed into a double room. The rooms are quite small compared to other cities and areas we have stayed in. (For info there is no lift so this hotel is not accessibility friendly)

I do have two pieces of constructive reflectivness to pass onto the hotel management as possible improvements to guests stay.

1) The hotel looks great, the bathroom in our room was great but the walls in our room (101) would really benefit from having a fresh coat of paint as it looked pretty kid and dirty.

2) you have a lovely roof terrace but it would be good to have a selection of tables and chairs on the terrace for morning coffee/breakfast.. Was a bit disappointed we were not allowed to take chairs and tables from the restaurant.

Despite these 2 points I would stay here again for the location and the service.

Room is clean, Food is really valu for Money. Only problem is Tea is made from Machine. It is too sweet. Person having Sugar should avoid taking tea and coffee at Kumkum. Also food serving timing should start from 6.30am as check out is early.
Overall experience is very good.

Rooms are very clean. It’s Mumbai, so it’s noisy. The rooftop area isn’t like the photos, no where to sit and the restaurant is small with not enough space for guests. We got breakfast included, but would recommend eating out. We appreciated the being able to refill our water bottles from filtered water.

Staff here is friendly and won't cheat you.
The place is far from shiny 5-star hotel, but for its price, it's a great deal, probably the best in all of Mumbai.
The receptionists also help you with taxi and stuff, which really helps you to stay away from those individuals who would make you spend more money than you had planned to.
The roomservice food is nice and its price is just a little higher than streetfood's, which makes it really competitive.

This is the worst hotel I’ve been in India. First of all, provided room was plenty of humidity, we can’t even breathe, walls were buffed and smell was disgusting. We had to change the room, and they provided us a claustrophobic one.
The service was the worst. One day I woke up sick, and they refused to serve me plain rice, because it was “breakfast time”, only toast they said and I had the rice in front of me. Another night, they reject us to take dinner at his restaurant because from 20:00 to 21:00 is reserved for staff, an only provide room service (It was at 20:30). Last day, we called at 21:05 to request some dinner and they told us that kitchen was closed at 21:00 ( just 5 minutes and the hotel empty).
To add more things, service workers opened room door without knocking before, really disgusting.
Receptionists were extremely rude, even without saying good bye at the departure of our stay. Specially the girl, they treath us in a rude way in our welcome, always making us feel unconfortable. Avoid if you are turist, price is not worth it and seemed that we were bothering them with our presence.

Neat and clean room, washroom. Location is good. Staff service is nice. Room is small 10x10 , bathroom is also small, but good in this budget 2500 per night
I did not find any decent restaurant near by although they will bring food for u on order. There is no balcony bt terrace is there. They allow you to put luggage after checkout.

The hotel is far better than other hotels in the area with the same budget. It has the same average Mumbai hotel room size but the cleanliness and customer pleasure is taken very seriously. The staff are generous and cooperative. The only thing that can be improved would be probably installing a lift in the facility and increasing the water pressure in the taps.
