This was my first visit post pandemic to Mumbai and I returned to the Shalimar where I have stayed before I felt very comfortable with the precautions followed by the staff and the staff were very welcoming and glad to see me. My room was very comfortable and well maintained and the service was impeccable

The breakfast buffet was excellent with wide variety and plenty of options including freshly prepared dishes
I tried the Indian food at the well known restaurant Gulmurgh and the signature butter chicken was the stand out dish for us. We also sampled dishes from their new Asian kitchen Jintan and the sushi was very good They also have a new outlet called Gelato and the flavours and quality of the gelato was amazingly good!

The hotel is very conveniently located in the upmarket residential district of south Mumbai and provides easy access to most attractions and the business district of the city

I found the hotel excellent value for money and the staff were very helpful and had local knowledge which was very useful in planning our outings

I was a returning guest and was glad I chose to stay here and would recommend this hotel highly for its location,service,in-house food outlets and professional and helpful staff and I look forward to my next visit here

Have regular work in Mumbai and visit it often.

Again stayed at the Shalimar Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

The staff are very polite and ready to help.

The rooms are interestingly decorated and well equipped, specially the Bathrooms, which have all modern facilities.........great shower, magnifying mirror, hairdryer, toiletries and clean / ample towels.

The breakfast is generous and has interesting dishes. Service in the restaurant is excellent.

The Shalimar is situated in one of Mumbai's more affulent areas and the cost of a taxi to get to the Gate of India, Calabra Causeway etc is very cheap. The Shalimar is close to some excellent eating which is also inexpensive.
THe hotel pictures on the web a slightly deceiving but that said the rooms, the Comfort range and the Suites are very good. You get a shower as well as a bath in the Comfort range. These rooms have a fridge and tea making facilities.
There is a tiny gym for guests, a Patisserie and Deli within the hotel as well as a Restaurant that is also good value if you limit your alcohol. At Breakfast you can request eggs in any shape or form.
The Staff are excellent throughout the hotel, but I must mention Karan, in Reception who on the night we arrived was very helpful and patient after we spent over two hours getting through Immigration and wanted a different configeration in our room choice.
. After 16 days it was difficult to get a discount for our long stay and some renovation work in the middle of the night over 5 nights, hence 4 stars.

It has been our constant endeavour as a team to provide the best of The Shalimar Hotel to all our guests. We would like to bring to your notice that the Hotel Pictures on the website are given with its area in Sq. feet. Hence it would not be right to call them deceiving. Also the renovation work which you have mentioned being carried in the middle of the night was actually a repairing of road carried out by the Municipal Authorities of Mumbai, stopping of which was not in our control. Whilst we thank you for the positive review on TripAdvisor, we look forward to have your continued support and patronage in future to come. Please feel free to contact me for any future requirements. I booked this hotel based on reviews on Google reviews and have def regretted my decision.

Right from room allocation to the choice of food to the painfully slow room service .. everything seemed to be a bad experience.

I'll start with the room allocation, inspite of booking "the comfort room" a month in advance, sending requests to allocate a double bed cos I was travelling with my wife and child and also calling them atleast twice to confirm if my requirements were being met we were given a smoking room cos that was the "only room with a double bed" available .. the moment we entered the room we were met by the stench of stale smoke.. I tried switching on the air conditioning but the remote wasn't functional, called room service (twice) and the guy came to fix it after 25 mins... called house keeping to spray the room and somebody from there arrived after 2 calls and sprayed the floor for some reason??? unfortunately they forgot to change the sheets cos they stank of stale smoke.

The room was allocated on the second floor which is above the banquet room.. now trust me when I say this.. this was the noisest hotel room I've ever spent time in. It was horrible...I did highlight these issues to management but they seem to pander more to the Goras renting out rooms..to make it worse, they have a pub in the hotel which played music till 3:30am causing more grevience.

Breakfast was ok but in room dining is costly compared to how much they serve, they didn't have any choice for cuisines best suited for infants.

At 11am I requested a checkout which didn't happen until 11:55am inspite of calling them thrice and walking up to reception.. they kept us waiting due to horrible coordination. They even messed up with our bill.

The only positive was the bathroom which was spacious and had a bath tub and shower, the rest was a horrible experience.

Lastly to top it all they forgot to help with our bags when we were checking out cos they were busy helping Goras check in.

This hotel is a poor excuse for accommodation and I sincerely hope they improve their services.

The road has been dug up near the hotel entrance making it difficult to hail a ride.

I would give this hotel a 1/5.. worst experience ever.. if you are travelling with family avoid at all costs

RohaanMenon, We thank you for putting up your opinion on your stay with us. We are a hotel which has been in operation for the last 57 years to be precise and have survived only on the basis of guest opinion and feedback. We appreciate genuine feedback from guests, as that has helped us over the years to constantly improve our facilities and services. We would like to clarify the issues you have raised in your review which is definitely damaging our reputation as one of the best hotels in our category. Sir, we endorse your claim that you had spoken to our front office team twice about your room requirement. However, it is pertinent to note that you were clearly told that the requirements would be met subjected to the availability as there were groups staying in the hotel. We tried our best to meet 2 of your requirements namely comfort category room" and a double bedded room, however, we were not able to comply with non - smoking floor request as we were running on high occupancy. Also world over all requirements of guests in hotels are catered to subject to availability. We are apologetic for the same. We do have a daily check of the rooms by our qualified and experienced housekeeping staff. On the day of your arrival your room was checked by our Executive Housekeeper and approved it to be let. So, in all likelihood, it is not possible that we forgot to change the bed sheets. The remote of the air condition, when checked by our maintenance person, was found to be on the fan mode while it should have been on the cooling mode. As per our record, you had ordered Goan Fish Curry, Dal Khichadi and Roties at 12.34 Hrs. and were served at 13.00 Hrs. At the time of clearance, you had appreciated the food and prompt service. We would like to bring it to your kind attention that, had you asked for customised food, we would have certainly given you a few options and prepared the food for your infant. Our menu rates are very moderate and competitive and we have never received any complain about it being expensive. The municipal corporation authority of the city had undertaken civil work for a few days during your stay. Since the work was in the public interest, stopping the same is beyond our control. You had informed the reception about you check out at 11.31 am. However, when the minibar attendant went to check the minibar, the room was not vacated by you. As a standard practice, the same can be checked only after you vacate the room. As per our CCTV records, you had come at the reception at 11.44 am and left the hotel at 11.55 am thereby completing the check-out procedure in merely 11 minutes which also includes the minibar check after you vacate the room. We would also like to inform you that we do not have a pub as stated by you nor your room was right below the banquet hall. Our banquet hall is located at level 9 whereas your room was on the level 2. We disqualify your claim stating that the foreigners are being looked after at the cost of Indian guests. Our Indian guests constitute almost 75% of the guests staying on our hotel and hence, your statement stating the front office staff was busy renting the Goras is extremely discriminating and we do not appreciate the same. However, we apologize for service flaw or inconvenience caused to you if any. We would request you to treat this as a one off incident. Please once again accept our apologies. Best Regards, Deepak Varunkar Vice President and General Manager

I stayed at the hotel for a week and was quite pleased. Although I had some hiccups initially, the team was agile enough to take those up and ensured I was comfortable. Housekeeping is exceptional— special thank you to the gentleman who made my room everyday (i cannot recall his name since he mostly worked in my absence) but he was really sincere and got even the finer details right. Kamlesh was another gentleman who made my day by serving me food everyday. He was warm, courteous and caring.

Lastly, a big thank you to Kirtan and Jacob for being on their toes always! Had you guys not stepped in, my experience wouldn’t have been half as good!

I had reviews that exclaimed over the nice service. We stayed last night. And we have no regrets. Went in directly yesterday afternoon to enquire and inspect the room. The front office is quite friendly and courteous. And we could easily inspect the rooms.
The rate was a bit steep ( for me ) so we politely declined, and again, they were quite understanding.
But then we decided the location is quite what we wanted, and we would stay despite the slightly high rate…the quality of the property justifies their asking.
We had a comfortable residence. The staff are all uniformly and exceptionally courteous and friendly.
For total strangers staying here first time, we felt quite ‘@home’, which I seriously believe, must have taken the management a lot of time, money and serious effort. You need an efficient system for all staff to be focused on the guest. And I feel here have fine tuned it well.
The pasty shop and deli is very good. We went there twice in one evening. The lounge bar is, too.
Went there too. It’s is not huge but it is quite comfortable and so I went again.
The breakfast today morning was not bad. Staff all as friendly as yesterday. And good food. Nothing fantastic, but no regrets either.

They have a 12:00 noon check out so we kept our bags at a safe corner near reception and went out, hoping to have a break if we had time. But we were quite busy. Anyhow they quite decently kept the room for us, without charge, till another checkin came at around 3:30. And they were also good enough to ask if we were okay with their giving the room to the next guest.

We had already checked out! But they still had this concern. Nice. I’m hooked !

When I travel, which is quite rare, having a home away from home sort of place is nice. And not the pretended kind. I’m sure there are other similar places in Mumbai, waiting to be discovered, and this was one. And I’m quite happy with my discovery

I had been to this hotel in the mid of march. This place is very centrallyWe located on the campus corner. But because of the Metro construction at the moment the way to the hotel was one way so it could become a little inconvenient. The hospitality was very good. The hotel is like a european boutique hotel, it was also full of foreigners. The breakfast is a small spread but nevertheless you will get all that you’re looking for.We were in a comfort room as we were three of us. The room service is also quite fast the housekeeping is also good the bathroom is also good with the bathtub and a separate shower area . Recomended for a friendly budget hotel.

We stayed here last month for 3 nights. All safety protocols followed. Prachi at reception and Karan at reception were really nice helpful One of the managers Umesh also was very helpful, I think he was in charge of housekeeping. Good staff. Rooms are tastefully done. I know the hotel business is going through very tough times, we read about it all the time and people talk about it but I must say Shalimar still went out of the way to ensure everything was perfect giving the circumstances. Priya at the pastry shop along with the other staff there were really nice and helpful Great stuff to have there. They have various options for food and all were nice. Value for money. I must give the credit to the management for running this hotel well. Shall surely recommend the same. Thank you.
