We visit this hotel often and comment on the new things we find as this hotel is very conscious and regularly updates its services based on feedback given by visitors. The proof of this surfaced again and we wish to share this with other travellers to Mumbai.

This is a very friendly hotel located in Colaba, Mumbai very close to the shopping paradise of Colaba Causeaway and many eateries nearby like Delhi Darbar, Bhade Miya, Olympia, McDonalds, Leopold Cafe, The Table and many others. It is a walking distance from The Gateway of India and the Taj Hotel.

We have always found it easy to book directly with the hotel as you can get better rates than for example booking.com and Madam Arfa and her reception staff always come up trumps with us. The reception staff are very efficient and the hotel generally is well run by the Manager Mr Shaikh who is always seen busy in all the areas including the lovely dinning room which serves excellent and varied Indian and Continental breakfast, lunch and dinner; the newly opened roof top gym and the corridors of the rooms which are split on five floors.

The rooms are very cosy, on the larger side and have all the amenities that you may require. A large bed, tastefully decorated and comfortable, powerful air conditioner and good supply of hot water throughout the day and night. There is plenty of spaces for the suitcases and there are two to three settee chairs in the room as well. The bathroom and the toiletries and mineral water are supplied daily as courtesy. Rahul, the young, always smiling Room Manager goes out of his way to ensure that you have a comfortable stay and ironing boards etc are supplied without a fuss on request. He is the best dressed and immaculately dressed person in the hotel and this is very refreshing.

The dining room and reception which are on the first floor have been recently renovated and have the signature of the Manager Mr Shaikh who has been imposing his young and daring ideas to make this area beautiful and the ambience is now extra ordinary. The breakfast is very varied and sumptuous with a lot of Indian food aroma filtering throughout. Our favourite waiter Michael is a gem of a guy, courteous, well trained and always obliging and smiling.

We like coming to this lovely hotel which is very affordable and competitively priced and recommend this to our friends and family and any traveller who wishes to have a comfortable stay in Colaba in Mumbai.

My arrival at the Suba Palace was not particularly auspicious. Road works meant that the only road leading directly to the hotel entrance was closed to all vehicles. Fortunately, I am very familiar with South Mumbai and knew how to circle a few blocks to get dropped off just around the corner from the entrance. Not the hotel's fault at all but the tiny lift with a permanent operator who was then and often thereafter bellowing into his cell phone did not bode particularly well. Some things improved my initial impression but others did not.

Firstly, the hotel has a prime location for those wanting to stay in South Mumbai and it can be fairly reasonably priced by Mumbai standards if you are lucky with your booking. The included breakfast is excellent with lots of choices including made to order eggs. As others have noted you need to time breakfast time right because the room will not hold all the guests at one time but even when overwhelmed by a teenage boys soccer team (more of them later) the staff copied well and there were a few spare seats.

My room on the 6th floor was smallish but okay with a queen bed, coffee table and a couple of chairs, safe, kettle, empty mini fridge and very big windows. There was no stand to rest a suitcase on but one of the chairs functioned okay in that capacity. On a down side the upholstery was grubby and stained on both the chairs and bed headboard. The rest of my floor seemed to be completed inhabited by teenaged soccer players. While they weren't partying late at night they were in and out of each others' rooms and I wrongly expected that it would be noisy. I am not sure if the sound proofing is very good or if the soccer boys were quieter than anticipated but there was no noticeable noise from the halls and other rooms in the night.

The bathroom was small but functional but I was never able to get anything more than tepid water and twice it was stone cold. Perhaps the boys used up all the hot stuff.

The A/C unit worked well but the wifi was a disappointment being barely functional and often completely non-functional in my room. On the other hand it always worked well in the reception area so the problem seems to be with the location of my room rather than the system itself.

Overall, the Suba Palace is a good choice for anyone wanting to stay in Colaba particularly if you can book at a reasonably price.

Located just minutes from the Gateway and in easy walking distance of many of the noteworthy sightseeing buildings, this is an excellent choice if you want value-for-money in a central location. We arrived close to midnight and had prompt service from the desk. The room was a great size, clean and had efficient air con. We heard no noise from the road. There were some small elements of the room and fixtures that were a little dated but they didn't affect the stay in any way. Would highly recommed.

The Suba is a good choice if you are a tourist/traveller wanting creature comforts in the heart of Colaba at a reasonable cost given the price of accommodation in this big city. My double room (at the back of the hotel, not overlooking the street) was well furnished, had a very comfortable bed and was quiet - I heard no noise from other rooms at all and little from the street. Hot water was on tap at all times and the room was spotlessly clean and with tea making facilities. The breakfast buffet was good - lots of choice and eggs cooked to order. All the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Suba Palace for seven days and found the hotel very comfortable with excellent staff service. The rooms were rather spacious and beds were very comfortable and linen was clean. Hot water was available throughout the day and toilets were clean with ample toilet supplies.
The location is ideal for shopping ( specially street shopping) and for dining out with a number of good restaurants around to suit every taste.
The breakfast spread was good and clean and well laid out with variations and the room service was commendable.
The most remarkable feature about the hotel was its excellent staff service from the lift man to cleaning staff, restaurant and reception staff who were always accommodating and helpful.

We visit this lovely hotel near the Gateway of India and Taaj Mahal Hotel in Colaba Causeway frequently but due to covid restrictions were not able to visit for more than two years. We were very surprised to notice that although we found the screens in the reception, life had almost returned to normal. Our check in was very professionally dealt with Arfa and her reception staff. Always welcoming, pleasant, smiling and very well trained staff under her guidance was a revelation after a long flight from London.

The hotel is within walking distance of all the restaurants, shops, cinema and the waterfront in Colaba. Taxis are very easy to get and the Causeaway is a paradise for shoppers and of course there is a Mc Donald's within walking distance.

The rooms are very well appointed which are spacious, clean, comfortable bed, a small area for sitting with a table and two sofas, and our room had been recently upgraded and it was very evident how clean it was, especially the bathroom and the toiletries and complimentary water was a very nice gesture, but of course expected. The new AC was very powerful and we had to keep the controls at a lower level although the temperatures were in the middle thirties.

The biggest improvement we have seen is in the breakfast room which has also received a new face lift since we last visited. The breakfast is varied and mainly Indian variety, we liked the street food varieties which were on some days. It was also refreshing that different dishes were offered daily, so one did not get bored with the same food as it is our experiences in other similar hotels. Michael was always there looking after everybody with his radiant smile and always went out of the way to make our breakfast experience amazing. The cooked breakfast consists of different varieties of eggs and parathas are always on the menu. My wife was very happy to eat the Masala Dossa which is offered once a week, a rare South Indian speciality.

We met Mr Shaikh, the manager who is very charming and young. We found out that the transformation has been his idea and he has a very well trained army of staff who are always smiling and seem to be enjoying their jobs. Even the lift man is always smiling and happy to interact with you regarding comments on the weather or the local politics.

Thank you to Arfa Maam, Michael, Mr Shaikh and all the lovely staff for giving us such an enchanting experience. We look forwards to staying at this beautiful hotel again and will recommend it to our friends and family.

A fantastic hotel. Checkin was quick. The front desk people are professional and welcoming. The highlight of this hotel is its location. Everything is close by. We felt we were literally at the centre of the city — gateway of india, Taj Palace Hotel, BadeMiya (a famous local eating joint), Shivaji Sangrahalay — a very good museum (formerly known as Prince of Wales Museum), Jehengir Art Gallery, Colaba Causeway market, one of the oldest cinema theatres — Regal Cinema Hall — everything is very close by — say in 5-8 minutes minutes walking distance. Each and every hotel staff is remarkably friendly and polite, always smiling. The rooms are clean and big enough. We travelled with our 10 years old child, they gave a proper single bed for her in an extended part of the room. And they covered both the sides of the bed with two - two extra pillows. Such little things show how thoughtful they are. The breakfast is very nice — they give all essential stuff — a few English breakfast items, a few local items, a few South Indian breakfast items and good variety of cut fruits, juice and flavoured yogurt etc.. We had two rooms and we stayed there for 3 nights. It’s connected to two main roads, yet it’s not noisy. We loved every bit of our stay in this hotel. We’ll definitely stay with them whenever we go to Mumbai next time. I will strongly recommend this hotel to all my family and friends.
