I would advise against staying at this hotel if you wish to sleep. Although the hotel is ideally suited to explore the colaba area, the existence of Polly Esthers Night Club in the basement makes sleep inpossible. Our groups bedrooms were two floors above the nightclub but we were still able to hear the music and feel the vbrations through the floor. Management were unable or unwilling to help and it was clear that they were used to a barrage of complaints about the noise.Do not be fooled by an offer to give you a room away from the noise....they do not exist!

The hotel is very clean and the people dedicated to your comfort.
The breakfast time finish too early for me 10:30 and is basic but ok.
However, the room was very noisy. There is a nightclub in the building and can really be part of it staying in your bed. For that I do not recommend this hotel.
“Abode Bombay” next door is really much better !

Stayed here in March for four nights with my brother. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. We were in one of the "English rooms" at the front of the hotel. We slept really well and heard no noise whatsoever, even from the street! We were there however Sunday to Wednesday night when there is no night club! Cannot vouch for Friday and Saturday nights! Breakfast was fine, there were tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom but the bathroom was small! Anyone overweight may have difficulties! The hotel is in a superb position, close to Cafe Leopold, Cafe Mondegar and The Gateway to India. Wifi good. Staff on reception, however, variable. On our final day, we wanted the room for a few extra hours as our flight was in the evening. We were quoted an extortionate price! I also needed to urgently use my Ipad but they stubbornly refused to reconnect me for our final few hours. The man on reception was somewhat full of himself and the girl just smiled inanely as per usual! Not a good ending to our stay!

I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights while I was in Mumbai for business. Having read all of the reviews about the noise from the nightclub I was quite worried, but don’t worry, the club has closed down so when I stayed (late March 2014) there was no bothersome noise and I had a perfect night’s sleep.

The hotel is in a brilliant location, just a very short walk from the Taj Palace Hotel and the Gateway to India and there a numerous tasty restaurants on the doorstep (The Table is particularly good, just next door)

Staff were both friendly and very helpful and I found the room to be very comfortable, clean and secure with every facility available that I required.

The hotel is a lovely small boutique hotel and each floor has a different theme which makes for a pleasant and enjoyable stay. If you like the big fancy hotels with chandeliers in the lobby, this isn’t the place for you, but if you want somewhere clean, safe, and comfortable in a brilliant location I cannot recommend the Gordon House Hotel highly enough.

I will definitely stay here again.

I travelled to Mumbai and stayed Gordon House. The hotel and the service was good. Unfortunately, the noise from the disco was terrible until the early hours of the morning. After paying so much money, it was disappointing to not get a good night's sleep. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was unlimited and you could order anything on the menu and any amount. when booking your room check with the person to make sure that you are not staying on the side where the disco is. You will regret.

Everything started out nicely with this hotel, until they referred us to their travel agent. My friend and I decided to book the train to Goa for a few days, and their agent arranged the tickets for us. We paid him for the class we wanted, and getting down there was fine. When we got to the train station we found that their travel agent had cancelled our tickets leaving us in Goa with no way back to Mumbai! We ended up getting a cab to the airport, and paid even more for airfare back.
The hotel refused to do anything about the situation, and kept saying it was the travel agent's fault. Well, they've been using this agent for almost 10 years. And we're your guest, and you referred us to this man. The hotel didn't even apologize for the situation, and treated us as if the situation was our own fault. I would never stay here again; they have no respect for their guest. They really don't care about you once they have your money. Keep looking!

We stayed at the Gordon House for one night at the end of a two week tour which was a great trip in all other respects. We simply could not have stayed another night, because of the noise. It is virtually impossible to sleep, mainly because of the nightclub (it's like having a disco in your room). However they also have external wall mounted air conditioning units which are also incredibly noisy.
As for the rooms, they are distinctly average, and the bathrooms are tiny. Breakfast was the poorest that we experienced during our trip, and the staff were the least friendly.
In summary, I would go as far as to say that this is the most unpleasant and uncomfortable night that I have spent in any hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for four nights in March. The first night, noise from the disco made it impossible to sleep until 2:30 am. Next night I moved to the other side of the hotel on a higher floor and heard nothing. The staff were very pleasant, the location convenient, the breakfast adequate. I checked out the Ascot Hotel, in the same general area. It looks much better value.

stayed 2 nights here and on the second night got up to find 3 cockroaches on the bed,
on notifying the management they changed my room but from then until checkout there was no apology so assume it may be a common occurrence , also the noise from the nightclub below is quite bad , the good points are its location and also the breakfast is good

You don’t get a better location to stay in Mumbai. Walking distance from the Gateway to India and a great place from which to explore the city. The hotel is simply decorated, clean and functional. Our bedroom was comfortable, with a small, but perfectly adequate bathroom. Breakfast is good, with a nice selection of both Indian and International choices. The restaurant then offers Pan Asian for lunch and dinner, with a Stir Fried theme - we enjoyed it. There is also a bar, with a good atmosphere and music. Staff are friendly, but interactions are minimal, making it a good hotel for self sufficient travellers. WiFi is free and good.
