Well positioned, comfortable hotel near to the Gateway to India. Walking distance to famous Leopold Restaurant (must visit) and a few shops & arcades. Nice, friendly staff and simple buffet breakfast. Good value for short stay.

The Gordon House Hotel was a wonderful stay. The staff were so helpful, professional, polite, kind and thoughtful. Special mention to Vicky, Sushill and Ajay who made it extra easy and comfortable for us! It was a pleasure to have them looking after us. The rooms were clean, comfortable and serviced to a a great standard. Highly recommend this as a place to stay in Mumbai.

the best is that hotel is in center of tourist area. everything is in walking distance, so no problem with taxis. hotel has restaurant which offers chinese food. breakfast is included and good. limited offer of western and indian food. i was satisfied. rooms are not big, tv is really small. overall: i have no problem to stay there again. especially cause of location.

A great little hideaway in a great spot for Mumbai. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and the staff all happy to help with any requests. The area is great for restaurants, bars and coffee shops. The only thing that I would say could be improved upon is that it’s very awkward getting in and out of the bathroom as the door opens in and the bathroom is small. When I the shower is great

Good location in Mumbai. Clean rooms. Reception desk staff were ok with one gentleman named “Omkar” extremely rude and arrogant. Room was spacious for the price and breakfast was good. Overall good value for money. One staff member tainted the experience

We stayed at Gordon House for 2 nights in February and would most definately stay there again. It is in a fantastic location near the Gateway of India but on a side street so not noisy at all. The staff were lovely, the rooms were spotless and nicely decorated. After a long flight it was great to arrive somewhere that you could relax and enjoy before embarking on a 26 hour train journey across India. It is a funky, boutique hotel with a cool, white lobby and two restaurants. The food was excellent and the service attentive. There is a disco in the hotel called Polly Esthers which we popped into for a quick nightcap but we were v. early so only 2 or 3 people there. If you want traditional India then this hotel is not for you - it is a contemporary, urban hotel with themed floors. Well worth a visit.

My family and I were scheduled to stay at this hotel, check in November 28th 2008. Connecting through Paris on our way into India the day before, I learned of the terrorist attacks and immediately checked with the US State Department, which informed me that central Mumbai (and particularly the exact location of the Gordon House Hotel) was under police and military guard and that no one was allowed into the vicinity for at least the next three days (overlapping the dates of my reservation). Thinking mostly about my family and friends in Mumbai in the wake of the tragic news, my thoughts shifted to re-routing my trip into India. I promptly contacted the hotel to let them know there was no way I could accept my reservation, even if I wanted to (as the location of the hotel was inaccessible). I was shocked to receive a reply stating that I had violated the 48 hour cancellation policy and that I would not receive a refund of my 24,000INR (1,000USD) deposit.

Words cannot properly summarize my anger and frustration. Cancellation policies are in place to protect hoteliers from no-shows, such that another guest may be accommodated with ample notice. As there was no way to accommodate another guest (the city was on fire from a terrorist incident, and under martial law), such bureaucratic trifles like cancellation policies should not apply.

I had the misfortune of being in New York City during the 9/11 terrorist incident, while on business. I can assure you that every New York City hotel RELEASED travelers of reservation obligations during this trying period, including my hotel. This is the morally correct course of action.

It is disgusting and inappropriate for a hotel to refuse a refund by using a cancellation policy as an excuse. The behavior of the Gordon House management reflects poorly on the whole of India, and I find this type of profiteering inexcusable. I urge all travelers to avoid staying at this hotel to protest the morally corrupt and fundamentally unfair policies of the Gordon House management.

(post script: my credit card company is working with me to recover the charges - I will pursue legal means if necessary to recover my funds from these shameless profiteers)

they confirmed our booking 15 days in advance and cancelled it 48 hours in advance. this was the mail they sent:
"We regret to inform you that due to some unavoidable circumstances we will not be able to accommodate you at our hotel hence requesting you to please make reservations with some other hotel for your stay.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to you in this regard".
the funny part is that if I cancel a booking or no show they charge me on my credit card. if the cancel, just an email.
