I stayed here for three nights at the start of my tour of southern India. The location is excellent at the southern end of the city and within easy walking distance of many sights. Staff helpful. Comfortable room. Both European and Indian options for breakfast inc eggs cooked to order. Bowl of sweets in the room. Kettle. Tea and coffee. Bottles of water. Safe. I was far away enough from the night club not to be bothered by the noise which was very evident closer. However, being further from reception meant that the wi-fi signal was at best intermittent. Generally I went and sat in reception to get any signal. Good but noisy a-c. Plenty of sockets. Good hot water. Good housekeeping. Shower. Newspaper. Very good stir-fry meal in the restaurant.

The Gordon House hotel is well situated in the main tourist area, Coloba. It is a short walk from the Gateway of India, and just behind the Taj Hotel (which I believe charges a little bit more for it’s rooms).
Our room was on the 3rd floor and was a reasonable size for a city hotel. It was however let down somewhat by the lack of any view from the window (when we opened the blinds all we could see were a stack of air conditioning units) and a very small bathroom.
The staff were all very friendly and provided us with very good service.
The issue of the noise from the bar on the first floor or the building has been mentioned in many other reviews of this property. In our third floor room we were certainly aware of the noise and the vibrations it caused. It did not stop us from sleeping, but we can appreciate that people in rooms on the 2nd floor or who are light sleepers might well find it a problem.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Gordon House hotel and we would consider staying there again if we ever return to Mumbai (but not on the 2nd floor).

An ideally located hotel for exploring the Colaba area of architecture, upmarket shopping and the various markets. Also a short walk from the sea front where you can watch the sunset along with the many other spectators.

Our bedroom and the public areas were extremely clean and well kept. Big ,comfortable bed, decent safe, toiletries, tv with BBC news and English language films.

Breakfast is fine - you can order eggs, pancakes, toast and more.

We did have to move rooms because of work being done to an adjacent room, but this was very smoothly done by the staff. They were allvery helpful and friendly.

I was disappointed that the Havana Bar was shut - would have liked a place to drink on site. And the rooftop patio could have been a brilliant place to chill, but seemed to be used for storage. These are my only quibbles- I would definitely stay here again when in Mumbai.

We had booked Gordon House for a few days and after the first day we noticed that the windows didn't open and the room lacked ventilation (and had a damp smell). My partner was uncomfortable and we let housekeeping know. The next day, we could not sleep the whole night as my partner had serious breathing trouble due to the lack of ventilation. She had to get on an inhaler (steroidal) to which right after dawn we checked out and asked for a refund, packing our bags at 7 am to find another hotel.
All this while the management was completely unhelpful and two weeks later have REFUSED us the refund despite knowing all our concerns.
The management is completely unhelpful, insensitive and shockingly rude to someone with health conditions.
Food is awful at the place (breakfast full of grease and oil) and while the location may seem like it is worth it, please avoid this terrible place.

Steve and Beth couldn't have been more gracious hosts. Our luggage got lost on our flight to Glasgow 5 days earlier and they went out of their way to launder our clothes and assist us in rerouting our luggage. Beth's laugh is contagious and they both had great recommendations for food in town and in other towns. Our room was on the corner of the street with beautiful views and full amenities. Breakfast was delicious and a wonderful start to a long day of touring. We highly recommend you experience the Highland hospitality at the Gordon House.

The location is great 👍 then everything goes down hill. The receptionist that checked us in Okhart was just plainly rude, he didn’t see we had two rooms booked and wanted to charge extra and then did not apologise when he found his mistake, bad mannered, arrogant and rude. The rooms are old not maintained and have a look at the filthy windows and 😝 “view” This is meant to be a 4* Hotel and charges accordingly more like a 2*. There is no pool and no out door area we asked about the roof patio and were told “it’s not open to guests”. The breakfast is mediocre and the food is just as cold as the staff. Avoid this Hotel like the plague.

I stayed at the Gordon house Hotel with my daughter from 21st- 25th December, prior to continuing on a holiday in Goa.
The hotel itself was fine in itself - basic but clean and well located. However, we booked via booking.com and when we left on Christmas Day we told the reception staff they had the pre-authorisation credit card details. They assured us that the credit card would not be drawn on. We were in a massive rush to get to the airport and paid the full bill in cash (rupees). We have also been charged the full amount on our credit card. We have contacted the hotel but they are ignoring us. I feel gutted that the hotel has taken our money twice. Wanted to warn others of our experience.

A comfortable hotel, with attentive staff in an amazing location. It was also surprisingly quiet given how close it is to the busy tourist area. The breakfast was great and included cereal/fruit as well as eggs to order.

A few reviews have mentioned the small bathroom - which we also experienced. But the shower pressure and temperature are good and you get used to the small size.

This hotel is situated in a small side street behind the Regal Cinema, just a five minute walk from the Gateway of India. It is a calm and peaceful hotel away from the bustling nearby strees. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the place is immaculate and there is an excellent breakfast - what more to ask?
