We stayed that this hotel for 2 nights at the end of our India trip. We booked at taxi from the airport through booking.com which cost us around £29.00 (luxury SUV). The airport is around 50-60 minutes from the airport with no traffic- the roads can be busy depending on the time of day you travel.
We were greeted on arrival by the friendly concierge team that helped us with our luggage into the hotel. You do need to have your cases and handbags scanned on arrival to the hotel and throughout your stay- don’t be alarmed, it’s a standard procedure at all hotels. We were offered a cold juice drink on arrival and the reception staff were very helpful and checked us in quickly- check in is from 2pm and check out at 12pm.
The lobby is beautiful, with a big baby grand piano in the foyer, lots of seating and a dining area that can be used when eating at the Italian restaurant there.
We stayed on the 6th floor in room 601. It was a lovely room with a large queen size bed, TV (that didn’t seem to have any working channels), desk, plenty wardrobe space, safe, slippers, dressing gown, ironing board and iron, complimentary tea/coffee making facilities, bottled water and air conditioning. The bath room with very spacious with the most amazing hot and cold shower. As you’ll find with most hotels in India the toilet roll seemed to be rationed so you may need to ask for more. They do provide shower gel, shampoo/conditioner and some other bathroom bits- toothbrushes etc. Rooms are cleaned daily and they do have a turn down service in the evening.
The hotel has 3 restaurants just off the lobby area. The Thai Pavilion, Trattoria (Italian) and The Konkan Cafe (Indian). We had a dinner in our stay package which meant we were able to have breakfast (served in the Italian between 7am and 10am) and lunch or dinner in the Indian or Italian. We ate in both and they have a set menu for guests on this package. There is a bar called Wink that opens at 6pm which has happy hour from 6pm-8pm. There is a cafe behind reception which sells sandwiches, quiches, Indian snacks, cakes and fresh bread.
As I said previously, breakfast is served in the Italian restaurant. You basically get anything. It’s buffet style with Indian cuisine, fruit, pastries, bread, toast, cheese, cured meats, some English breakfast items and lots of juices. You can also order various things from the menu such as eggs (any style), French toast, waffles and omelettes etc.
There is a pool and gym, which I didn’t use whilst there, but the pool area is nice and well kept.
WiFi throughout the hotel.
There isn’t much around the hotel unless you take a taxi. We didn’t venture out to eat as we had the dinner deal. We did find one walkable bar called Hammer and Song, which was in a beautiful bar and sold food, just in a very odd location- the walk is around 10 minutes if you take the shortcut which is a little path a few yards from the hotel after the Jupiter Apartments.

It wouldn't be out of place to say that the President Hotel has lived through generations. Set as a primarily business hotel in South Mumbai, this unique property wins due to its strategic location near the Bombay High Court, Gateway of India and all the other important Govt. organizations and offices in Colaba/Nariman Point/Cuffe Parade.
I stayed for 3 days/2 nights here in last week of May, 2024 for business and personal reasons and was quite pleased at how the hotel has modernized itself even though recently it completed 50 years. I was warmly welcomed by Ms. Nisha Sharma, Director of Rooms on my day of arrival and she was instrumental in ensuring a comfortable stay for me.
The buffet breakfast served in the 24 hours Trattoria is a good one and I must mention the contribution of Mr. Mayuresh who tirelessly served me and took my specific orders for waffles and tea even during the rush hour of many guests at the same time in morning.
Mr. Rohit in Qmin shop made coffee to my styling and also helped get my Uber cab for me since sometimes, the Ubers have trouble locating where exactly to park the car because the hotel does not allow waiting.
The Spa and Pool are well maintained and Mr. Kishore was present to take care of me in the wet areas such as Steam and Sauna. I was pleasantly surprised at such good quality of Steam, Sauna and the rain simulating shower in a business hotel! Mr. Rajesh, Pool Incharge was there to assist during swims.
Mr. Yash Tandon, Front Office Manager was quite helpful during checkin and also coordinated with other properties of Taj such as Taj Mahal Palace and Mr. Prasad, Duty Manager was there for a seamless checkout and saw me off to my cab onwards to the airport. Mr. Priyanshu Srivastava, Duty Manager in the night gave me some company and also got me a much needed chai after a long day.
All in all, it is clear that the Taj President team under the able leadership of Mr. Afzal Khan, General Manager was ready to provide the signature Taj hospitality that I have grown so fond of (and used to) over the years and I remain much grateful to Mr. Khan for also giving me some of his time over a cup of tea to better explain the property and provide some historical context. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to stay in South Mumbai, whether for business or leisure!
Room Tip: Try to stay on the higher floors; maybe if you are lucky you would get the topmost 17th floor which has some spectacular views of Mumbai harbour and the ships!

Our staycation at the President was nothing but impeccable. Thank you to all the staff members who were very kind in accommodating all our needs. Divya at the reception, Ritesh, Mayuresh, Malik and Rajeshwari from Trattoria were some to mention. More than us humans, my pet dog loved the stay and the goodies he was provided with. We as a family have been to many other pet friendly properties and none of the provided amenities for my pet even after paying a pet fee. This property provided my dog with a bed, food bowl, shampoo conditioner, perfume and a small pack of food all included in the initial pet charge. The only issue during my stay was that I could hear the other rooms door bell ringing clearly in my room and it was quite loud.

The person who helped us was truly remarkable. They were not only incredibly nice but also extremely respectful and attentive to our needs. I would like to start with the breakfast time of this hotel. The breakfast was great until our last day when a piece of plastic appeared in idli and a hair appeared in kachori. Then pooris took good 10 minutes to arrive at the table. Malpua got over at the counter and the manager said he will deliver at my table...that never happened! I requested for grapes and kiwi to the lady who receives guests in breakfast area and doubles up as a server, on second day of my visit which was never obliged till the time we checked out. They never maintain guest requests on paper and frequently forgets what people ask for.
We requested for non-smoking rooms but one of the rooms had strong smell of cigarette smoke and ash on window sil. They did change our rooms but no-one came to clean that ash from the sil for long time. The door of the rooms on 14th floor dont close by themselves. You have to pull them hard to close. If you are in a habit of having door close by itself behind you (like my husband) in hotels, beware! This never happens on the 14th floor. Rooms on 16th floor are much better maintained and organised.
Housekeeping is prompt in action which is a good feature.

The stay at president Mumbai is very good and the team has taken care of stay each and every element. The bath accessories were to notch. A very comfortable hotel and felt very looked after. The staff were lovely and I recommend the south indian restaurant and the kolkan cafe. Both offered great service and great food. Breakfast was especially good and catered for everything with a huge choice. Live music was played in the foyer and at breakfast - loved the flute was so calming and very welcoming at breakfast time. Rooms are a bit dated and could do with slight modernisation. We were unfortunately charged for in-room service incorrectly which wasn't great so make sure you check you bills on check-out. There's not too much outside the hotel but many of the sights not too far by taxi. All in all a good hotel in south Mumbai.
