Taj Lands End in Mumbai garners mixed feelings among guests. While its prime location and serene atmosphere with ocean views are lauded, some guests feel the value doesn't match the steep prices, encountering overpriced services and unexpected charges. Opinions on the rooms are divided; they are appreciated for their comfort and views, but criticism arises over datedness and cleanliness. Nonetheless, the hotel's atmosphere is often described as inviting, with commendable live music and hospitality. The service is generally well-reviewed, despite some inconsistencies, and the amenities, including diverse dining options, are a highlight for visitors.

A stay during restrictions had our share of reservations about our stay but all the doubts vanished from the time we entered the gates. The security was reassuring and clearly the Hotel had maintained occupancy keeping all guidelines in mind. We could see housekeepers with spray machines and even the guests seemed mindful of not getting too close nor making it too crowded.

The start was great as we were upgraded to club room which had free cocktail and snacks hours. The physical key has been replaced by soft key and the terms and conditions etc were patiently explained to us. Our room was on the top most floor of the hotel so the view was nice. The room was clean to satisfaction as well as housekeeping insisted on sanitizing it every day even though we didn't want to. The only thing that could have been better was the view as it wasn't clear view of the ocean and perhaps the bathtub which was too small for us making us feel like we must lose weight at the earliest.

The room service was prompt and the call was always answered within few seconds. The food was sumptuous with good portion size and apt temperature. We could not really find a reason to complain and only reasons to appreciate the Taj Hospitality. The room detailing and layout was thoughtful as well as colors were soothing. The room was devoid of any noise and curtains blocked the light as expected.

Here I must mention Lolita who ensured our last order was corrected and it was the way she acknowledged as well as corrected the error that made us a fan of her. Our checkout time was extended as farewell courtesy and surely added to our memories.

I only suggest there must be a drop box for common Tip for all since it's difficult to ensure everybody is tipped as we actually missed the bell boy, sincerely apologies to that person.

We would definitely visit again for another Taj Lands End Experience. Thank you all!

We had a superb time at Taj Lands End. The staff made us feel at home with regard to everything. The housekeeping staff specially took great care, specially MEGHA (from housekeeping team) did a great job in making our stay a memorable one. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday and we had a grt time at the hotel. The food reqmts of my small baby were really well taken care of by the in room dining department and there was no stone left unturned in making our stay comfortable to the core. Thanks Taj for yet another fabulous experience. We have, ever since our past 4 year old association, always had immense trust in the premium level of hospitality of yours. This is yet another pat on your back. Well done. Thanks again and see u at yr next property very soon sometime.

This was my first stay at any of Taj hotels. Location of this sea front property seems to be great for Mumbai, even it doers not look like any beach front in the US. When the place was built (in 70s?) it was probably wonderful establishment. Unfortunately, by now, it feels dated in the public areas as well as in the rooms. Old furniture, old phones, not up to date information regarding hotel services, plumbing issues, etc. They try to compensate with the great attitude and service (for example room cleaning was the best I saw in the long time), but this does not work all the time due to seems to be some systemic issues. Still the stay was satisfactory, but the check out process was a failure. My room was fully prepaid, but I was presented and asked to pay the full bill. When objected, it took a while to confirm, but than I noticed a charge for the breakfast I never had. It was also taken away with nice appologies. Only to find out (after the bill was paid) that there is a double charge for the airport transportation:). This was also rectified, but so many misses in one bill makes one wonder if it is a systemic error? In any case, everyone followed up and appologised and no hurm was done. An advise for everyone (and for myself next time here) is to double check the bills.

I don’t normally post negative reviews but this visit was extremely disappointing. Arriving for lunch we thought it would be a lovely spot with service and food to match as we had eaten at the famous one in the south which was truly fabulous.
However despite pomp and circumstance and various signs displaying shops restaurants etc there were two shops ( both hideously overpriced even by London comparisons) and only one place to eat was open. Since this had a lovely terrace overlooking the sea and it was about 1/4 to 2 we decided to eat there anyway. Imagine our disappointment to be told the terrace was shut so we were shown somewhere past a gloopy looking buffet inside.
The air conditioning was on so high it was freezing and other customers were complaining so we added our voice to theirs. Half an hour later we all did the same again and the icy blast was eventually moderated.
Our food took over an hour to arrive. After 45 mins we enquired as to the location of our food to be told the curries took 20 mins to prepare. As one of our party was a maths teacher we pointed out the obvious.
Around ten mins later something arrived that was not what had been ordered but as it was now pushing four o clock, fearful of it taking another hour and expecting the curries to arrive we agreed to just have that anyway. So imagine our surprise to have finished it before the curries appeared, and when they had been half eaten the waitress appeared with what had been originally ordered, and she was seemingly most disappointed when we didn’t now want it having filled up on what was brought in the first place. By now it was nearly five and what was intended as a quick bite in a luxurious destination had turned into an ordeal. In fairness I should point out we were given free desserts from the buffet table as an apology.
I have visited several Taj hotels and not just in India and they are generally luxurious, well managed, the food delicious and the staff impeccably trained. What a disappointment and a waste of an afternoon. We should have sat in a cab for two hours and gone to the Taj on Marine Drive. It would have been about the same time before eating but that would have been worth the wait.

So i booked a delux room here for 3 nights through MMT. Reading the reviews, one was half expecting to upgraded but no. I had to prompt it myself and ended up paying more for the upgrade (which i didnt mind doing as i had come here specifically for the "serene views" from the rooms) The views are great mind you, and the infrastructure is grand - its location is another plus point. But sadly, thats where the good things end.

Breakfast on the first morning was like visiting my local fish market. There was no freshly laid table - i had to sit down at a used one and actually ask the staff to clean the table after a couple of minutes. Tableware was not complete, neither was there salt and pepper. I asked for a fried egg and this is what i got (see attached picture). Apparently, when you fry an egg, you either fry it till its dead or leave the embryo swimming. Some of the wait staff fawned and swooned over some guests, running after them carrying their cups for them whilst other customers were politely ignored.

Another problem was my room on the 16th floor which is a connecting one and my neighbour made it a point to not let me sleep for the first night at least. The walls seem to be thin as well and i could hear him pacing around his room the entire night. So this morning on my way to breakfast, i requested the person at reception kindly to change my room. He basically told me an untruth (trying my best to avoid calling him a liar) to my face and told me that the entire hotel was sold out and he would, as he so blandly put it, "try his best" to accommodate my request. I knew very well rooms were NOT sold out as a couple of friends are literally making reservations for today and tomorrow through MMT as i write this.

Again, the hotel is nice, views are superb and the lower rung workers of the hotel and a couple of the ladies at reception are its saving grace. Especially the guy in charge of housekeeping on my floor and the tv guy who hooked up my Amazon Prime stick. Being a long standing customer of the Taj brand, i was disappointed with the service i received. And i also perceived this low key snobbishness from some of the employees - maybe this is the price of booking through MMT. On my earlier trips to mumbai, i bave stayed at the Trident, Nariman Point a few times and even though i didnt deserve it, was treated like royalty when i checked in. I have to say, i regret breaking the pattern.

Maybe ill return for the views and the location. Then again, maybe i wont. I certainly wont be recommending it through my social media however.

Pro tip : Ask for delux room with a view of the city/sea link. Dont pay for an upgrade for a sea view room as its not worth it imo.

I must say, we was extremely impressed with the arrangements and procedures during my recent stay at Taj Lands End. It was my birthday and my husband and I booked the stay for a night on 20th Sep. We were initially skeptical as we hadnt moved out of our home in 6 months,
There was a delicious cake and the room was decorated with balloons. Really felt special.

However, right from reaching the hotel, the fact that we had to self park our vehicle itself was so comforting. All staff were in protective gear. And contactless communication was followed meticulously including reading and daily news or the menu for inroom dining which happened to be a scan of a QR code on our phones. Even the cutlery that came with food was sealed.

Overall we were really satisfied and have shared this experience with our friends and family. Though I missed the live music, the hustle and bustle of people, the bar area , I guess its all a small compromise for Safety during these times. We have always trusted Taj properties and our current stay only made our feelings stronger. We will definately be back even if there is no occasion to relax in a beautiful home away from home.

Visited landsend from 3 rd November for two nights.
A nightmarish experience starting from word go. In covid times a luxury suite has someone medicine on the window seating platform.
Instant cleaning of room with apologies tendered.
Same evening in room dining services unable to handle order correctly. Have a missing dish and after repeated calling for another dish there is response but only on deaf ears. Had to sleep on an empty stomach that night.
Morning am surrounded with staff and chefs to make my breakfast pleasant( great consolation with restaurant manager giving his number for any service desired.
Evening in room service an ice bucket takes 45 minutes and that too when I ask to talk with manager.
Message to restaurant manager with no response. He meets me for breakfast with a good dish I asked him but no talk about the service issue.
Finally last straw, called for room service to clear last nights in room dining. Four calls and 4 hours later even after checking out room is in same manner. Had to cancel a meeting as could not get anyone to be in the same room.
Got apologies again from the food manager to duty manager and finally director of rooms.
Lost a loyal customer to the landsend hope not the taj group in all.
Have spoken about services of taj to the world seems standards are just going down and under.
I am not mad but disturbed by what I have faced.
Of course to my consolation got a free lunch which wanted to pay as not here to be a freebie.

Regards to everyone at Taj and others who want to go please ensure not to call for room service and for that matter even the restaurant where for 10 tables there are only 2 servers.

Stayed 17 nights at @TajLandsEnd in the middle of the Pandemic and let me tell you, the staff at Taj Lands End has done everything possible to ensure a luxurious stay for us.
The rooms are very spacious and the views are spectacular. Housekeeping takes special care and sanitizes the room every time. Minor adjustments to amenities in the room due to covid, but you can hardly notice it and is very thoughtful during these times to keep us safe.
Last minute wedding planning was a breeze with Krutika assisting us with all the arrangements for food, decorations and the suite. Special kudos again to Krutika for arranging a photoshoot for us within the hotel with special management permission as we did not want to leave the premises due to covid. Thank you to Francis and Salil for helping plan our special day here.
Vista cafe staff has been the most hospitable during our entire stay. Starting with the smiling welcome by Priya as we enter the Cafe for breakfast lunch and dinner, to great table service by Gladys, Mervin and Ganesh and hosting by Managers Subodh and Prakash. Taj club service by Ganesh is definitely worth mentioning.
The concierge and bell desk with special mention for Tejas for taking care of all our needs during checkin and checkout.
Overall i am extremely impressed by the dedication of the staff here at Taj to keep the Taj service at the highest level even when they are short staffed. They go over and beyond to maintain the quality of service.
Adding a few pictures with members of our Taj family that made our stay memorable.

I have visited this property atleast 20 times in the last 4 years staying over 100 days but their standard has reduced so much this year. Their front office staffs are the worst when it comes to 5 star hotels in Mumbai.

Imagine being denied key card to your own room. Yes that happened to me. I was told that all the key cards are sent for sanitisation and I will not be allowed to enter my own room. Yes! That happened to me. I realised that I left my key card in my room and they denied me another key. When I ask them to escort me to my room to prove that I left it they give me another key. So they basically swing a magic wand thereby giving me another key. Bunch of liars. Please stay away from a staff called Anushka. She behaves as if she pays for your stay at Lands end.

Do not stay at this property ever. I atleast had to live with it because of my company's contract.

I have been a Tak inner circle member for few years now. I have stayed with them even on personal visits. I will stop doing it henceforth.

The pre pandemic staffs used to be so good and I miss them. They were atleast polite. All through my 18 day stay my room fridge did not work. My night lamp bulb was fused. I was given a no as a default answer all the time. I am sure you will encounter the same.

Goodbye to Taj.

Regards
Muthu

I would agree with the response in which 2 kids of 3yrs and 8yrs are mentioned. They would do the best they can. But, pls ensure that you clarify with them about the club category rules, if you plan to book so. Because in the cocktail hours, they don't allow kids in the club lounge.
