The first thing you need to know about this hotel is that it doesn’t really exist. If you make a reservation here you’ll arrive at the address provided to find that your booking is actually with a place called the RK Hotel. The manager told us that they only use the name Rishi International when advertising on booking.com and other websites. He didn’t explain why but I can only presume that it is to avoid taxes or some other nefarious reason. It certainly sounds a bit dodgy to me! My lovely wife and I spent four nights at this hotel when visiting Mumbai. Our tiny room was dark, dank and dingy. Nothing like the bright and fresh rooms shown online. Moreover, the sheets and towels were old and in dire need of replacement. The bathroom was minuscule, measuring no more than two metres square. One literally couldn’t swing a cat in there. Breakfast was included in our rate of ₹2,500 per night. There’s no restaurant so you’re expected to eat it in your room. But we decided to eat in reception given how small our room was. We were presented with a long list of breakfast items but were told only three of them were actually available. We picked puri bhaji but were then told this wouldn’t be ready for an hour! So that left a choice of omelette or idli. We ordered the later. Twenty minutes later it arrived and was stone cold. Pathetic! At this point we gave up and went elsewhere for breakfast. In fact, we ended up eating breakfast out each day. There are some plus points. The water is hot and the air conditioning effective. The bed was also pretty comfortable. The location is also pretty good, being a short walk from Chowpatty Beach & Marine Drive and a ₹100 or less metred taxi ride from the city’s other major attractions. The Grant Road railway station is also nearby which is handy if you want to visit Bandra or the northern suburbs. All in all, a pretty disappointing stay. I know that getting a good room at a good price in Mumbai isn’t easy but there have to be better options than this. I’d encourage you to look around for somewhere better.…
