The best you can find for 500 rupees a night in Mumbai Only real catch: bed bugs. And no internet Great location: close to India Gate, a nice street market and the port from where the ferrys to Elephanta Island leave Free breakfast (bread, butter, jam, banana and a chai) Clean rooms (a lot of mosquitos though) and bathrooms Safe,...

Seems like years of poor management. Location is as central as it can get, right behind Taj Mahal Palace and the gateway of India. Bed was as bad as you can get but you get what you pay for with a few dollars in a golden area of Mumbai. Simple breakfast. If you can, pay a few more bucks and...

Spent my last night in India here and barely slept a wink. Lumpy pillows, a noisy school group who were rowdy till 1am, mosquitoes...There was no wifi, the fan and some of the lights didn't work. Grotty atmosphere. No soap, towel, sheets or toilet paper provided. On the upside the location is fantastic! But is it worth it if you...

The Red Shield guest house is a great place for backpackers, college students, and executives travelling on a tight budget. The location is simply awesome. It is about 5 min. walk from the Gateway of India and 1 min from the Taj Hotel. Good place ... i would definitely recommend.

We stayed in this guest house for 3 nights. We stayed in one of the non AC rooms. The guest house is old and has no internet connection but despite of this, the location is perfect. It is 2 minutes walk to taj mahal palace and 5 minutes walk to the mumbai gate. rooms and hallways are spacious, sheets are...

Even though it's maybe one of the cheapest places in Mumbai, I never met such a careless staff which just looks at you when they need their money. The beds are without bedsheets, the dorms are in a really bad condition, and because there were only two power plugs in this dorm (in the other dorm there is not even...

I visited the Red Shield Guest House recently and I'm writing a positive review -- even though I didn't stay there. The last time I spent the night there was in 1966! Fifty years ago, it was a cheap, respectable place to stay, in a great location. It looks like it still is. Red Shield Guest House was my home...

Excellent location, next to the beautiful Taj Mahal, one block from the sea, walkable distance to all the pretty areas in Colaba/Fort. The hostel is not a travel agency, however all services are available down the street. Good money change and shopping deals in the area too. Plenty of food options at all prices (note that this is posh Mumbai...

It is clean. OK. It is cheap to stay in dorm. But there it ends. Staff is creating problems. There is only one room with available power plugs. It is supposed to be open till 23.00. Staff is consistently trying to drive you out 2 hours before that. No WiFi. There are computers for rent. But there has to be...

We tried to book a double room in advance by sending an email but we never got a response so we decided to just turn up. The prices have gone up recently (not yet reflected on their website) and a double room is now Rs1300 per night, dorm beds are Rs350 per night. We arrived around 7am and the staff...
