The new refurbed hotel is superb. The central location, the ambience of the foyer and the rooms, the fragrance of sandalwood everywhere, the warmth of the staff from the commissionaire to Reception to the Breakfast staff and the room cleaners are all extremely warm and helpful. The breakfast was always the highlight of the morning and we ate more than we should have :-) I grew up in that area and walked past this hotel on almost a daily basis. It was an icon of the 80's and is getting back to its glorious past.
There are a few things that the hotel can work on too - it is on a busy road and the traffic noise does pervade even into a 5th floor room from the early hours. They should think about sound insulation for the higher tariff rooms at least. We were slightly frustrated with the keys because they opened a door once and then had to be reprogrammed again - every day.
But these minor irritants would not stop me from wanting to stay there again. It is very family friendly and highly recommended. I really hope that next time we visit the revolving restaurant is up and running again.

I have been visiting Hotel Ambassador for many years now and always find this property very well maintained giving a feel of warmth and welcome. It is one of the most conveniently located prime property for business travellers as well as for tourists on Marine Drive, Mumbai. The rooms are well decorated and provided with all basic amenities. Service is prompt and staff is very courteous. Overall a great value for money specially during covid times.

The hotel retains its original charm from a glorious past. The rooms are spacious and clearly retains original features like part marble floors and marble interior of bathroom. The rooms look like they are depicted on the booking website. The cleanliness standard of the hotel is very good. Room service and meals good as is the customer service all over the hotel. All staff are charming and helpful. I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel. Great location near to a lot of major sites.

This ancient and prestigious hotel keeps its characteristics intact over the years by renewing itself. Rooms masterfully redone daily, towels and sheets always fresh and clean daily, very varied breakfast and also cooked on request, a chef who interprets your tastes with creativity and imagination. Tonight the executive chef prepared for me a delicate dish perfectly in tune with Indian taste. Compliments!

Hi!

I've been staying in the hotel for years came back to stay in 2022 , post COVID staff changed and not very courteous .

We had made our reservation + - 30days prior yet they gave us horrible room facing into some house where a patient was living. We had requested for a city view. Very disappointing to stay.

When asked to be upgraded (PAID) said were sold out. When I checked out platforms(Booking.com , Agoda etc ) rooms were available .

The Ambassador is in a great location for a base to explore Mumbai. It is a few steps away from Marine Drive to the west, and an easy walk to the Gateway of India to the west. The hotel staff were welcoming and the rooms clean and comfortable. The 24 hour restaurant had a great breakfast buffet including eggs cooked to order, freshly prepared Indian breads, and a wide variety of other options.

This hotel is about a 30 minute taxi ride from the Airport. Fare was about 900 rupees. It is in a good location and easy to get to the tourist hotspots by car - India Gate, the Taj, Prince of Wales Museum, MG Museum, CST etc. Nothing bad to say about the rooms but Hotel is a bit dated and undergoing renovation and the revolving restaurant is closed and has been for many years. Buffet breakfast was good, restaurant a bit on the small side.

This is an old property smelly carpets and elevators feel like they are pre independence. But the highlight of this property is the cell phone network issue. Jio users beware your phones will not work in and around this hotel. Spooky!!!. Checked out half an hour after check in because of this. They didn’t even offer an apology let alone refund.

The rooms were very average. There was a lot of noise of renovation. When we complained they said they would stop it. Sure it stopped for 10 minutes every time we complained. When we complained very strongly they offered to put us in a different room but only the next day (had booked it for a week). And when we looked at the second room it was filled with smell of cigarette. So we obviously refused to move in. Then they put us up in a third room I think after spraying some strong room freshner. It did not stink of cigarette immediately but did after we came back in the evening. So another change of room (cannot stay in room with strong smoking smell with a child). Oh and by the way the renovation noise was everywhere. So the whole moving exercise was pointless. Two stars are for the effort they made in moving us.

My husband and I stayed at The Ambassador Hotel in Mumbai for almost 2 weeks during our trip to Mumbai, India. It was an amazing experience, the room was spacious, comfortable, and the staff was always ready to help and make our stay comfortable. Their General Manager every morning would greet us and ask how our stay was. He was very cooperative in accommodating all our request. The restaurant staff was very friendly, one day we skipped our dinner and the restaurant manager literally called us at 10 pm asking if we were feeling ok as he did not see us for dinner. Overall it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Mumbai.
