Established formerly as a rest house for the distinguished Kerawala Family, Harbour View Hotel has witnessed the chiliad that is Mumbai. It is housed in one of Mumbai’s Art Deco heritage buildings by the famous sea side of Apollo Bunder. This family secret was then converted into a Guest House serving genteel visitors from around the world for over two decades and now it has been remodelled to echo Mumbais’ une histoire d’amour with Art Deco. The facades within and around always remind you with ebullience the chronicled past of Mumbai, whilst keeping it intimate and unpretentious. Harbour View is equipped with the latest technology like WiFi, Bay view -a 24 hour sea facing cafe, room service, airport pick up and drops and guided tours. Our team at Harbour View makes it our duty to cater to all your requirements to make for a comfortable and clean stay in the city. We would like our guests to remember Mumbai, through us and for us.

Very nice hotel where everything worked: good service, lovely and clean room, comfortable bed and good exchange rate (don’t change at the airport!). Cubicle shower with enough strength and hot water, and all the toiletries you need. We only had breakfast once and it was ok, but much better than the food was the view from the rooftop! It was great to start our day walking by the Gateway of India and the Taj Palace, and there were many places to eat or drink close by.
We had a little problem with hot water one morning, but they quickly sorted it out. Also the bathroom towels were worn out. But all in all, very good value for money!

Room Tip:Beware of the shared building, the sign for Strand Hotel is much bigger and it took us a minute...

I chose the deluxe tranquil sleep room because I knew I would be very tired during my two night stay. Don't call your rooms tranquil sleep if they have zero soundproofing and every room on the reception floor can hear noise from inside as well as outside the hotel. I got no sleep on my first night as there was something beeping in the corridor that the staff were unable to turn off. Also a leak in my ceiling which I had reported in the afternoon had got worse and was dripping noisly onto the towels they had put on the floor to soak up the water. I was moved into a different room the following day, this was right next to reception so also noisy. I don't recall the staff apologising that I had been disturbed all night by several buckets full of water dripping through my ceiling. On the plus side the rooms are well appointed, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms very nice.

Lovely little hotel right on the waterfront in a good part of Mumbai. Rooms are a reasonable size and clean but ours was next to reception and a bit noisy. We booked a balcony room and were given a window room - didn’t really care as we only had two days. Guy at reception, owner maybe, was hard to engage but I got a smile out of him :-) Restaurant is nice with good food but the waiter didn’t like us ordering two large beers and gave us one to share. Location is fantastic, easy walking distance to all of the sights.

The condition of the room is very poor. On arrival I notified the male on reception that the velvet bed frame and decorator furniture was heavily stained and dirty. He didn’t stand up but sent a young boy in to look - it needs replacement , what could he do but remove it? There was no action taken or further comment from the person on reception. The sheets on the bed are 2 single sheets laid horizontally so they separate while you sleep to expose the mattress protector. The mattress protector is heavily stained with brown marks whose origin I would hate to imagine. The bathroom door does not close at all for privacy- it is stuck open. The bathroom ceiling is covered in mould. The towels are threadbare to the point of having holes in them. The window blinds in the bedroom are filthy with dust and mould. The small balcony off the room looks to never have been cleaned or wiped over - very uninviting area for that reason. The reception staff did not welcome us on arrival and continued to ignore us for our entire 3 day stay. There is no care shown here either for our person or the building they are promoting. This is not a luxury boutique stay. It is dirty and if I could have afforded it I would have left 10 minutes after I arrived. The room has the potential to be lovely but it has been left to decay. We had breakfast once in the upstairs cafe. Very basic food and again little idea of expectations of service from the staff. The velvet chairs again heavily stained and very offensive. Lovely view. Good water pressure and hot water. Good wifi.

This is a real find, the hotel room is very small but once you open the french windows out to the harbour you forget all that, it is awesome. The rooms are nice and the location is great, everything close by including the cruise terminal and the Gateway to India. Breakfast was included and very nice at the rooftop restaurant, looking at over the harbour. I would definitely recommend this hotel and the laundry service is fantastic.

This was the second time we stayed at the Harbour View and it was great again. The rooms with a balcony and a view of the harbour are simply wonderful and absolutely unique in Mumbai. You can tell that the hotel is slowly getting old and you can only hope that the rooms will be renovated again soon. The rooftop restaurant has improved significantly compared to 2018. The food on offer is great, including drinks and there is always something going on, lots of locals go there to eat, a very nice atmosphere

The hotel is well located but the staff are not very friendly at all. We didn’t have a good view, the sheets and room wasn’t very clean, and you could hear the people from reception all the time as there’s no noise soundproof. The photos of the hotel must be when it was built because are not the same!

We stayed at this absolute gem of a hotel for 4 glorious nights, and my only regret is we didn't stay longer. We booked a sea facing room (#301) and the view was sensational. The boutique hotel occupies the 3rd level of a lovely old building and has been renovated superbly. Our room was beautifully appointed with everything we could need: plenty of storage, safe, TV, fast WiFi, tea making facilities and a luxurious bathroom. There wasn't a hairdryer, although I'm sure you could ask for one, but I opted to stand on the juliette balcony in the sunshine. Breakfast was served upstairs at their rooftop restaurant (again with cracking views). Service was a bit slow and the range on offer wasn't very expansive, but the freshly made omelettes were a good start to the day. The location of the accommodation is unsurpassable: obviously directly opposite the harbour with Gateway to India and Taj Mahal Palace Hotel a mere stone's throw away. You get front row position to view awesome sunrises each morning and you're walkable to loads of eateries and sights. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mumbai, and I hope to get back there again one day.

This is actually situated in a multi-purpose building with the Strand Hotel on the first two floors; a private residence on the 3rd floor and Noddy's Guest House on the roof - I expected to hear Slade playing. Our room had the promised Harbour View but you couldn't swing a cat in it, never mind open a suitcase. Good bathroom and room Service. Awful breakfast, though a reasonable omelette. Well situated for the main attractions and restaurants.

We needed a cheap hotel for one night in this district of Mumbai. The hotel efficiently organised a reasonably priced, clean, safe taxi to collect us from the airport. Our rooms were clean and comfortable - everything worked. There was a kettle, water, brew kit provided. It is an easy walk to some attractions - Gateway to India, Fashion Street, Colaba markets, Leopolds Restaurant etc. The hotel occupies the 3rd floor of an old building - other hotels occupy lower floors and floor 4 is a cafe with a view of the harbour. I have two criticisms: The towels are pathetically thin/old, and the walls are not soundproof. We slept fine, but there was constant background noise. I would recommend it as a clean, convenient hotel, staffed by friendly and helpful people.
