This is the Lalitha Mahal, built by the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore to host his most important guest, the Viceroy of India. The Lalitha Mahal is now one of India’s most opulent hotels, a palace hotel that offers an experience of princely living in a real Maharaja’s palace. On a low hill, just outside the royal city of Mysore, stand a shimmering white palace – a splendid Italianate palazzo, double-columned and domed – set in sparawling terraced and landscaped gardens. I recommend considering a stay at the Lalitha Mahal Palace. While the food may be very costly, the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. However, be aware that amenities maintenance is poor, and room hygiene could use improvement. Additionally, there is no children's play area

Went there for lunch . Property very badly. Managed requiring maintenance . The food was good but not the property, the property was very shabby. The staff was excellent. The food quantity was good and well priced , shame that the place is not maintained. Did nit stay here but had a look around at the property .

We understood we could have tea at the hotel and that it was worth a trip to view the old colonial building and especially the restaurant. We paid to go in and queued up in the hallway to be given a dreadful beverage with a couple of biscuits from a cheap packet. Not at all what we had expected! We could not go into the restaurant and the only option for looking at the so-called grandeur was the entrance hall. The toilets were the poorest and dirtiest we had occasion to visit on our entire Indian holiday. Really not worth the effort - don’t bother to waste your time by going. They are really missing a trick as it could be a wonderful experience!

The floors and bannisters indoors and out are dirty with bird droppings and look like they haven’t been cleaned in days. Breakfast was like in a cheap hostel - tasteless vada and sambhar that was more water than anything else. Hotels in India usually have great service but this place appears to barely have any staff. People were brushing their teeth in the powder room outside the dining room - makes me wonder whether all rooms have working plumbing... We certainly have no hot water in our room.

One of the worst experiences. 1. Quality of the hotel: the hotel used to be the King’s palace but do not expect to be treated as a welcome guest. The hotel is old. The room has never been remodeled probably since it was built. The bathtub contains black spots. The toiletries are very low quality especially the conditioner which does not make hair smooth at all. 2. Mismanagement: A. when I stay, a film was being shot. The hotel is messed up with filming equipment and guests needed to accommodate the film crew. B. Maybe due to the filming, I was asked to park behind the building. Luckily I only had a small suitcase or I needed to drag luggages on gravel road without help. C. The hotel did not give me any communication prior to the check in. This creates a big problem because the road was closed. The hotel knows it! They refused to give me refund. They compensate me with a free dinner but when I forgot my takeaway, they threw it away. I ordered it, it became my belonging and they knew I was a guest. D. The staff hanged up phone calls without listening to you.

Not a great experience at all. You cannot view the palace at is hotel. They charge per person 100 and offer normal tea or coffee with buscute and you can only see ground floor and fo photography. So no value for money or nothing to watch. Only onecan see in movie KGF shooting done at this palace.

We 3 friends had the best time of our lives staying for a night in this magnificent palace where the Mysore Maharajs had once lived. Receiving royal hospitality from the wonderful people, 24x7 service, excellent varieties in complimentary breakfast, swimming pool, all the facilities intact, well-maintained palace rooms and corridors , a pleasant environment... Overall this palace definitely deserves a 5-Star and all the love & praise from the visitors and guests.

Highly recommended palace hotel !! We 3 friends wanted to visit Mysore and chose Lalith Mahal Palace without any second thought. The stay was very satisfying and memorable. We were short of time for taking photos in and around the palace , it had so many things to cover :) The staff was very courteous. Cleanliness was maintained very well ( its definitely a huge task of keeping such a huge structure clean and inviting !). The every inch of the property had something associated with the Kings of Mysore. The Raja RaviVerma's paintings of Mysore kings were really amazing. The Heritage room given to us was well maintained and bathroom was very neat though architecture wise it was bit old, but the fittings are all new age. They had kept royal vintage bathtub inside the bathroom for reminding us that its indeed a palace ! Complementary breakfast was really a royal treat. We were very happy to be able to savor so many varieties. The stay was the most memorable one in the entire Mysore trip and I would highly suggest Lalith Mahal Palace Hotel for anyone who is planning to visit Mysore.

What an incredible experience, to stay here and to be in the lap of royal luxury and serenity all at once. The palace looks absolutely gorgeous, the views are to die for and the rooms are great for the price. Some maintenance work is definitely required but still pretty great. Coming to service, Mr. Madhu with the dining staff is the only amazing staff here alongwith the house keeping lady staff on the 2nd floor, the rest are complacent and unpleasant. Mr. Madhu was so good, he arranged an entire candle light dinner with cake and food for us to celebrate and it was beautifully done. The dining hall is a true sight to behold, so incredibly beautiful. Their complimentary breakfast is great, so fresh and a good amount of vegetarian dishes. Their menu may seem a little overpriced at first glance but their portion sizes are quite large and food is fresh & tasty, so the price is completely justified. We also saw peacocks every morning and evening. Overall, a great experience!

Mysore is a charming town and we are so glad we stayed in the Lalith Mahal Palace hotel. This is a fantastic opportunity to stay at a hotel built by a maharajah (and indeed one of the most famous - the maharajah of Mysore); he built this place to house the visiting viceroys. Our room had dramatic 11 foot ceilings and the dining room was gorgeous, as was the lobby and hallways, with a working original grill-gate elevator. We enjoyed the outdoor pool (note: not heated). Sure the hotel is ragged around the edges and could use a refurbishment, but I am so glad they haven't as then it would be like many other similar properties in India - far outside the budget of the middle class and even most foreign visitors. This is a rare affordable historic property that is decently maintained. The buffet food is mediocre - and has little to offer for those who don't like hot chilis in everything. But overall I am so glad we stayed.
