Bollywood room, One of 2 rooms in the main house, ground floor, in the back with a private internal patio. It has a bathtub, it is quiet, cool, and lovely.

We arrived here 5am after being chucked off a night bus, there was a room waiting for us with hot water in the bathroom. A soft landing for sure - then we heard the price ("we only have this room at this moment" - and it was 5am). Refreshed by 9am, we managed to get the room above at a fair price and spent 4 days enjoying the cool, calm, quiet of this hotel.

Breakfast was delightful, simple and tasty, with excellent service.
We had dinner once in the garden, it was lovely, simple, and easy, a fairytale.

Green Hotel is perfectly located, 5 minute walk away is a shopping and eating area, 20 minutes to the yoga ghetto of Gokulam where you find all the Europeans.

This is a heritage property with lush green gardens and outdoor restaurant, which serves affordable and enjoyable meals. Rooms and facilities are a bit dated and basic. Location on busy road is a downside as traffic noise interferes with good night sleep.

An oasis set off a busy road, the imposing central building of the Green Hotel reminds you of colonial indulgence with its dark wooden floors, cosy library, breakfast room and endless wooden stairs which wind up to the roof with a view of large trees and immaculate gardens. antique furniture and small frames of sepia photographs only heighten the sense of stepping back in time. Evenings are beautiful with candlelight dinner set up in the garden and service is faultless. Rooms are in an annexe near the main colonial building and is interesting from the moment you put the oversized key into the lock to open the room. Inside, the room is bathed in soft light that comes through the large khus/straw blinds hanging on the windows and doors. the rooms are large and comfortable with old world ceiling fans, cane sofas and very comfortable beds. service is great and everyone is super helpful. Food at the restaurant is also good. t

Since it was a last minute travel plan I had booked this hotel for me & my family only by seeing the overall rating it had.
Please do not do the same mistake, realized after that the good reviews were before the pandemic and when it was under a different management.
The service was horrible, room service is pathetic. They offer a room price including breakfast (approx INR 850 extra) but only 1 or 2 items will be there. The hotel confirmed that there is free wifi, but absolutely no signal near the rooms, it works only in the reception area. The room intercom phone was not working, so each time you have to walk up to the reception desk if you need anything.
The bed, pillow & the sheets were smelly and dirty.
Room ceiling & walls were cracked and having patches, please refer to the pictures attached with this review.
The only good this is the ambience of the garden restaurant in the evening, and open space of the hotel.

This old Maharajah’place unfortunately only has 4 years left on its lease as a hotel so go while you can. The main building has 6 fancy rooms which we were shown and where you can stay but the bulk of the accommodation is in a purpose built block. It is not super fancy but definitely comfortable. The lovely gardens and the food served out there is just the perfect. The breakfast that comes with the room was good with the usual pancakes, omelettes etc on offer as well as South Indian breakfast. Good WiFi. The cafe was a bit disappointing. Their cakes were good but not their coffee which, given the credentials of having been trained by a French chef, could have been better. Service there was a bit slow. The hotel had no alcohol licence when we were there but you could buy your own round the corner and bring it in.
The ethos behind the Green Hotel of supporting local projects and charities is good and worth in turn your support.

My cousin and I were due to return to Mysore in Sept 2020 for 2 weeks to train with our yoga teacher, and we had made a reservation with the Green Hotel, and paid a 50% deposit.
Due to COVID-19 global travel restrictions, the training was cancelled, and we requested for a refund as international borders were closed and Mysore was in lockdown, just like many parts of India. Numerous emails were sent since JUNE, and after many, many phone calls, we managed to speak to the manager, Mr D'Souza , and he said he would bring this up to higher management, but after weeks and months, he could not be reached for any updates, and even refused to answer our phone calls, WhatsApp or emails.
We even wrote an email to the Charity Board of Trust but nobody responded.

This is highly unprofessional and irresponsible of the Green Hotel! This is not our first time staying there (we have been to India 5 times and we make it a point to stay at the Green Hotel each time we are in Mysore).

Ignoring our emails and phone calls is not the solution. If you cannot refund our deposit because your hotel has closed down its business due to the global pandemic , then have the courtesy to inform us so.
We are pretty sure we are not the only ones affected by this unprofessionalism.

We booked directly with the hotel and not through Agoda or Booking.
Be careful if you're planning to book a stay at the Green Hotel in the near future - this could happen to you too.

A very warm welcome and a very beautiful place in Mysore!

The place is full of charm and history. The rooms, even without air conditioning, remain very pleasant and cool.

We had a pleasant stay ! In the evening, the large garden serves as a terrace and the waiters took great care. The breakfast is very good and plentiful and the service extremely friendly.

(Small downside for the driver reception area, which is quite poorly maintained)

This characterful place was our favourite during our holiday, an oasis of calm. It was a beautiful room, spacious, clean, tastefully decorated with period furniture, in the main house. Cheaper rooms are available in the annexe, but we thought the main house was well worth it. There was a lovely little cafe with garden courtyard inside, serving good coffees, and the outdoor restaurant was a great place for spending the evening. Needless to say, the food was also good although we didn’t have any of the western dishes, only local. While not in the centre of town, it was a short 10 -15 min tuk-tuk ride to the palace, and also easy walking to get around the local Gokulam neighbourhood. Finally, staff were all courteous and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome and loved being here. Highly recommended.

On our South India tour we were here for two days to discover Mysore. Based on the descriptions we were actually looking forward to the hotel. But then we saw the room (Bollywood Room) that had been booked for us. Actually only the bed would fit in there. There is no room for suitcases except on the floor between the bed and the wall. As an alternative we were offered a room in the building next door. But that had the charm of a garage so we stayed in the dwarf room. Incidentally, this is also the first time that no free drinking water is provided in the room.
The room, which was clean but a bit dated, would get a maximum of 2 points.
But what brings the whole thing back to 3 points is the restaurant and the beer garden where they actually serve beer on tap.

Sorry, but you need to contact the hotel reception direct to ask. They are very friendly and helpful and should be able to answer your question.

Do you have wheelchair accessible rooms?
Answer from Liz S
North Yorkshire, United Kingdom12 contributions5 helpful votes
Our downstairs room was far too small to accommodate a wheelchair. Also, as I recall, there are steps up to the hotel, and various partitions tween rooms. I would say it would be very difficult for a wheelchair user.
