First of all: I had some problems with my credit card. Well, it was hijacked and I could not get any money from the bank. Stephen just helped me out by giving me cash money and I transfered money to his bank account via online/web. But what a nice guy with a lot of trust! We also laughed as if we would know each other since years. And he showed me on this great private bicycle tour some of the best places outside of mysore including some history lessons but never dry but very entertaining...:-) The house was also very nice! Centric and a lot of space. What else can I say. I didnt like mysore very much, but I am thinking of going back. I think this is the best compliment. Shure to bring a little present! At least if you are not german..;-)
What a fabulous experience it is to stay with Stephen in his wonderful homestay! I've been coming to India for 15 years and Mysore just as long, but staying at Mysore Bed & Breakfast and doing the fabulous Sri Rangapatnam MyCycle tour showed me a new and delightful side of Mysore. It's great to stay in a residential neighbourhood with someone who has been so immersed in Indian life for so long, yet also has a foreigner's perspective too. ... ( which includes a wonderful English breakfast!) Highly recommended. BEWARE the prices on Make My Trip and Goibibo are NOT CORRECT, they have been inflated! Contact Mysore Bed & Breakfast directly for the correct rates.
This is a lovely place to stay for seeing the delights of Mysore. Set in a tranquil residential area opposite a peaceful park, Stephen’s home is a a genuinely shared experience. It’s his home and you become part of it. Filled with amazing art and collectibles from India and across the world as well as a library. Stephen is a very amusing, enthusiastic and positive host! His cycle tour of a nearby island is well worth doing. Highly recommended!
Mysore B&B is simply a great place to stay when you are in Mysore. We initially found it whilst looking at Trip Advisor for bike tours that Steve runs (the mad Yorkshire man who owns and runs both the B&B and the tours). When looking at that we found the guesthouse and booked in based on the other great reviews. It has 3 main double rooms and 2 other rooms that can be used as bedrooms. We were lucky enough to get the big double upstairs which is the only one with its own toilet and sink (shared bathroom). Don't be put off by the lack of your own bathroom as the main bathrooms are fine. There is a lovely homely feel to the whole place with lots of momentos. The rooms are all clean and comfy and they serve a great breakfast everyday for all guests. If you feel that it is a little more expensive than some other places you might find in Mysore don't worry, you will never regret staying here. Steve is simply a fantastic host. He has a loud and boisterous sense of humour that might take you back a bit if you aren't used to Yorkshiremen, but he will soon charm and amuse you. You can certainly have a great laugh with him. Having lived in India for many years he has a fantastic knowledge of things around Mysore and a great understanding of Indian culture, history and life. The location is great too. It is a lovely house and home, set on a really quiet street in a prosperous residential district of Mysore. 15 minutes from the centre, the rickshaws are R60 and the bus is R8/person. So it is easy to get in to town. It is opposite a lovely series of parks which are nice to sit in if you get a chance. And if you have time do at least one of the cycle tours. We did the one on Sri Rangapatna which was superb. We finished the day with a drink with Steve at a local Raj palace/hotel and dinner at a street stall. That was the best day we have had in India during our 5 week tour which is really saying something. So thank you Steve & Lucy (the dog) for making our stay in Mysore so great. We will be back.…
The neighborhood is very quiet and nice. In the B&B any single object has a story to tell, Stephen, the owner is wonderful. Ironic and caring, he really loves India and his love for the country is contagious! He can give you very helpful advise on what to do and where to go...The rest of the staff is also amazing: Sowbhagya, the drivers and last but not least Lucy: the sweetest dog ever!!! I just felt at home, surrounded by love and harmony. Thanks to all of you guys!
