Escaping from the big city life I was in Mysore for a few days for a 'work-cation', and Gitanjali Homestay was the perfect place for it. Surrounded by greenery, incessant sounds of birds and the quiet and gentle Mysore rain once a day, I had a marvellous break from the hustle-bustle. The WiFi was great, there were no noisy tourists and the hosts and the manager were very welcoming and friendly, without being interfering. They suggest options for lunch and dinner which are not cooked on the property, but the breakfast is made there and included in the price. I'd recommend this to anyone - especially solo women travellers and professionals looking for a mindful retreat!
Visited Mysore for my first ever solo trip and while browsing through different greyscale hotels I stumbled on a patch of green - Gitanjali Homestay. The pictures don't do justice to the place. It's a cosy Homestay surrounded in greenery. Perfect place for solo travelers, couples and families Hosts were very friendly and made the stay all the more blissful.
If you are planning to stay in a homestay in Mysore, then Gitanjali homestay is the place ! Its a great property with great staff. Mr Arun, manager there and other staff is sooo great that u will not feel that you are somewhere away from your home. The place has great nature feeling and its very relaxing to stay there. N if u are looking for homemade food during yours stay then order food from Mrs Usha who send great food !!!
Spent an extended weekend there and will certainly visit again. The place exudes old-world charm and hospitality. The property has been lovingly maintained with lovely old trees planted by the owners - each with their own story. The couple and their daughter will make it a point to meet you; be sure to ask about the history and stories of the property. It is a true homestay - it does not feel like a commercial establishment. Breakfast is served at the gazebo and will always have a dish or two of traditional fare. Don't miss the jams - they are homemade and to die for. We brought back a couple of bottles with us. I spent one morning on the hammock with a book and a continuous supply of chilled beer. With the sound of birds and the lovely trees and flowers, it was one of my memorable moments during the trip. Highly recommended as a place to embrace calm and de-stress.…
Flowers and birdsong, warm hospitality, clean and tastefully furnished rooms, breakfast in the garden, long morning walks - this is an excellent place to take a healing break in Mysore. Close to several attractions and restaurants, yet green and tranquil enough for all kinds of winged visitors- I saw at least 25 different birds including sunbirds, grey hornbills and a shy blue flycatcher.
A lovely serene setting, a quiet place for a relaxing holiday. Wonderful host Yamuna and manager Arun, who took care of all our needs. Made us feel at home away from home. The two pet dogs Pega & Omar, who were the stressbusters. Nicely placed dining area with seperate, independent tables for each cottage inmates with wonderful home made fresh food both veg & non veg, for breakfast and dinner. The rooms are spacious and clean, well maintained. Plenty of warm water at all times. It was a great experience and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet place.
Cannot recommend the Gitanjali Homestay in Mysore highly enough! This was the perfect start to our new year and we can’t wait to return. It’s near Chamundi hills and the Indus valley Ayurvedic spa as well as Windflower resort- so it’s a perfect location. 💯 ambience, hospitality, legit Kodava food 🍲 No seriously we are OBSESSED with this place 🥰 Apart from the excellent ambience and hospitable and responsive hosts, special mentions for their: ☕️ strong coffee 🍞homemade jams (esp the chia guava) 👩🏻💻excellent WiFi 🌚 and super friendly cuddly doggos 🐕 I spent the morning in the sun, watching tadpoles swim around a shallow pool while admiring the beaut flowers all around, sipping some Cothas coffee. After discussing spirituality and agriculture with the gracious hostess here. Cannot remember the last time I’ve felt more relaxed and at home! Already recommended to everyone I know and looking forward to returning soon.…
This place was a pleasant surprise! Mrs. Yamusa was very warm and welcomed us into her beautiful home. We really had a good time staying here. The food served was homecooked, authentic, and very delicious. Special appreciation for the manager Mr. Arun who was very calm and helpful throughout the stay. We will surely be visiting back soon!
A slice of serenity at the foothills of Chamundi. Gitanjali turned out to be a rare find, it's a labour of love and we couldn't help being mesmerized by it. Yamuna is a fabulous host and her parents opened their home to us and regaled us with some memorable stories. Aunty's lovely garden was a welcome sight for our jaded city-dwelling eyes, the flowers in riotous blooms, fruit trees bursting with fruit - chikoo, pomegranate and cherry guava, which was a revelation for us. The food was delicious, the staff led by Arun, efficient and welcoming. Pega and Omar the two dogs captured our hearts, the kids were completely smitten by them. We left with wonderful memories to cherish. This looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship with this special place, for we shall surely be back.…
A refreshing break away from the city. Surrounded by an array of greenery that varies from fruit trees to bougainvilleas that decorate the quaint tiled roofs of Gitanjali. This was indeed the much needed respite every family yearns for. Neat and well appointed rooms that open into wide corridors that overlook a beautiful garden. Comfortable rooms which have the owners thoughtful personal touches. Home style simple and delicious food that makes you feel like your in a home away from home. But most of all the exceeding warmth and gracious hospitality that was extended by the manager Mr. Arun and his staff. Mr. &Mrs. Achiah and Mrs. Yamuna who opened their homes and their hearts to our family. We were strangers but she made us feel like old friends. A great experience for the discerning traveler who wants to feel at home amongst the green away from the bustle of the city. We will surely visit again!…
