I spent the last few days in the Himalayas, a long standing dream of mine, with my family, tucked away in a glorious hotel called The Oberoi Cecil, that once flirted with British royalty. Oozing with old world charm, the place never ceased to captivate. While all the staff were courteous beyond belief, I would like to make a special mention of a man called 'Mr. Rajkumar', a chef beyond compare. Every place has a story, and I'd like to think that the Oberoi Shimla would not be the same without this gentleman who regaled us with his passion for cooking and his longstanding history with the Oberoi Group. The story of the Oberoi Cecil is akin to the story of Mr. Rajkumar, a man who rose from nothing to be somebody who manages the kitchen with such finesse it is hard to put into words. He took care of our every need and made our stay all the more memorable. If I visit again, he will surely be a large reason for my choosing to!…
Our stay at Oberoi Cecil May16- May 19, 2022 Highly recommended .Not only were we pampered beyond our expectations, the service and the hospitality throughout our stay was stellar. All the staff members went to great lengths to make us feel at home. We would give this place and our stay a 10/10 and higher. A special shout-out to Vishal, Vaibhav, Anjali, Maithili, and the sous chef Raj KumarBhatia for their exceptional service and excellent food .We also loved the live piano performances by Narender kumar and the other players. All in all, this was one of the best hotel stays we have experienced and would recommend to all without any reservations
Some hotels have great interiors and some hotels have interiors that keep mesmerising you every time you see it. Cecil is one such property. While I had seen the pics online, it’s so much more richer when you see the hotel with your own eyes. The wood-work is so heritage, classy and elegant. Every part of the hotel keeps you reminding of the quality of the place and the beautiful colonial era architecture. Rooms are very comfortable and the restaurants are nice. No doubt that the Oberoi standards of hospitality is unmatchable. Don’t miss the small Cidar Garden across the road. We weren’t sure initially but we just loved that place. Calling out Inder who did everything he could in keeping us comfortable, Reshav for great service and conversation and so many others who made the stay so memorable. Thank you everyone at Cecil for making us feel special and taking good care of us.…
Me, and my family stayed in Oberoi Cecil during Dec 2021, for 4 nights, and enjoyed the best hospitality we have seen so far. We had booked hotel pick and drop facility from Chandigarh airport. The Car was in excellent condition, and their chauffer Mr Sukhvinder was an excellent driver. My daughter is very young and get car sick, so the chauffer drove the car very smoothly so that she would not get disturbed during the whole journey. Its location was also great, as it was not far from the city. The room was very spacious, and had a very nice view of the valley. As we had gone to Shimla to celebrate 10th wedding anniversary, the hotel staff gave us not one, but two complementary cakes, which were both delicious. Their whole staff was very courteous and always smiling. I would especially like to thank Ms Sonam and Mr Sunil, at their restaurant. They both knew how to take care of guests. They themselves observed if my daughter was not eating the ordered food, and then asked the chef to prepare some food items which the kid may enjoy more, such as chocolate pancakes. Food at the restaurant was also very good, and the view from restaurant windows is very beautiful. I would also pay complement to their Spa staff. I got a Swedish massage, and the masseuse was very gentle, but very good with her technique. Their spa room was very well furnished. At the time when I was getting the massage, the sun was setting, so the dimming sunlight further enhanced the calming atmosphere in the room. They also have an excellent kids play area. It has plethora of activities, not just for the kids but adults too like TT, xbox, carrom etc. They gifted some soft toys to my daughter and she was really excited by that. It was always difficult to get her back to the room from the play area. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, and definitely look forward to coming back.…
